CUSTOMER REVIEWS

Rated 4.9 out of 5 by 12 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Echo Model # SRM-280S - Great trimmer; lots of power The trimmer came fully assembled right out of the box and started right up with no issues. I have a 3.5 acre yard loaded with plenty of trees, weeds and grass so I needed a good quality trimmer with power. I've heard nothing but good reviews about Echo so I spent the money - didn't want to spend twice the amount on an overpriced Stihl. Anyway, it performs great. I had a Ryobi for 8 yrs and it worked just fine but age got the best of it. So in my search for a new one, I discovered that these weedeater manufacturers have decreased the displacement size over the years. My old Ryobi was a 31cc and to my disappointment, that doesn't exist anymore (21 -22cc is the most common now). Only Stihl and Echo seem to have the larger cc engines. The bump feed or "speed feed" works awesome - you barely have to tap it. Now for the cons - it's a bit heavier than my old Ryobi so that'll take some getting used to. The trigger is a little bit difficult and requires more pressure which puts a strain on your forearm after a while. I find myself having the switch hands for a bit. The brush guard is very tiny so expect to get showered with rocks and grass frequently. Oh, and it is NOT attachment capable as Home Depot listed in the specifications. But that's OK because I have a little wimpy Troy-Bilt for my other attachments. Still, I highly recommend this product over all the other brands out there. June 1, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Don't buy anything else Just bought the SRM 280/S. It's FANTASTIC! It replaced a 15 year old SRM 260S- a winner also! I considered the 280T, but did not want higher RPM's in order to get more cutting torque. The 280S has an awesome attack, and far more torque than my prized old 260S. Believe me, this is all the whiskers you will ever need! I used to own a commercial lawn service in Florida. I moved to Tennessee and retired with 7 acres to care for. I brought much of my Echo equipment with me and I am an Echo fan - exclusively! No other manufacturer builds comparable product period. May 21, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Echo's the #1 product on the market. I purchased this and used it 6 hours straight around my property and like my old echo it keep running and running. Love this trimmer it has the steel shaft in case I want to put a different head on it. Echo it the best product on the market , you cannot go wrong with Echo. April 3, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Best made I've got stihl and Echo, the 280s is a monster, don't think I've ever even needed full throttle, starts every time easy, lighter and lots more power than than my km-90 Best I've owned, also got the 500t backpack and cs-590 timberwolf saw, I only buy echo now, run um all day comfortably December 10, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by wonderful machine I have other Echo products and they are the best out there.I bought the SRM-280S a month ago and I love it,This thing will chop through just about anything and it starts in one pull.I think this is the best trimmer to buy. November 24, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Durable - holds up well We have been using these for several years - 26 weeks a year. They are operated by seasonal help from a temporary employment agency. So many different hands have held each piece - we have six ECHO trimmers now and they hold up to being handled by a variety of folks each year. They are reliable and easy to maintain and repair. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Commercial grade trimmer! Don't settle for the off the shelf trimmers. They don't have enough HP to trim heavy loads. The Steel drive cable is a must for long term heavy duty use. We have 2.5 acres, so lots of trimming to do. The SRM-280S is professional model that is a great long term asset for the average homeowner. September 1, 2011
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by All of the features are great on my new Echo SRM-280S Since buying the Echo SRM-280S, I have had the opportunity to use it several times on my large yard. It started after only one pull the first time I used it. The machine was very quiet when running and cutting grass and weeds. The power of the engine was excellent. The fuel usage was much better than I expected it would be. I will mention, though, that I changed the head on the machine. I bought an Echo head that fits ANY and ALL of the SRM trimmers. The head was fitted for four stationary plastic lines (2 lines, with four openings on the head) that could be replaced manually as needed. These extra lines placed on the head, made short work of everything that I trimmed. The machine is quite light and comfortable to hold and to work with. I would also recommend buying a shoulder strap for the machine, since the strap does not come with the machine when you buy it. Home Depot also sells the type of oil that should be used in this machine (Echo oil), so I also bought several containers of this oil. This particular trimmer was more expensive than some of other trimmers I looked at, but in my opinion, it is well worth the added expense. November 6, 2012
