My wife says it is a very nice saw for her unlike our previous Yellow & Black one we also still own.
This saw has extremely good balance, seems smaller physically, cuts fast so no need to hold up as long as our other one, is less harsh on ears although I still suggest ear protection & is easier starting if you follow directions that is.

Yes it is very easy to use. My wife is 62 years old and uses the saw with no problems. Ease of use is directly attributed to how easy the saw starts and how sharp the blade is.

It depends on how strong the lady is and what you are cutting. Cutting a down tree is easy for anyone but cutting branches overhead or in front of you are hard since you must support the saws weight. Also if you are cutting for hours you get tired. I think this is a good match at only 10.1 pounds. It pulls easy to start and you can put your foot in the handle on the ground and pull the rope to start it. Read More

Yes I'd recommend this saw for a lady. It's not very heavy at all, the blade cuts smoothly and rarely kicks back, and what may be most important in my opinion for a lady is that the pull cable takes much less effort to start the engine than other chainsaws I've used. It's a very nice chainsaw overall.

Hello nana, I’m Newf from the Home Depot’s how-to Community. Thank you for your question.
“Is this a good saw for a lady?” This model is lightweight for its size, but is made to take down large trees. The issue is not one of gender but of the right tool for the job you need it for.
I hope this helps,
Newf.

My Echo did not come with a case like my older saws had. I made a blade case out of wood so the saw didn't cut anything while I was transporting it. Not a problem. Maybe the Echo Co sells them.

I have had my Echo over 5 years now with no problems. I came with a 5 year period. I don't think you will have any problems if you drain out the fuel and run it dry after each use. Also use a fuel stableizer in your gas so it will last 6 months.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Best Saw I ever owned!!! Got this saw to replace a Jonsred 2050 Turbo which I owned for 30 years and used it often.Good as it was it cost a lot of money in repairs. I have to say that the Echo has out cut and wights less and has more power than the Jonsred ever did. It has 18" bar and is balanced so perfectly. I replaced the safety chain with 3/8" semi chisel tooth chain and cut an old hickory up and a ash and a red oak and a sycamore that had fallen over during wind storms. I also have a 455 Husky Rancher that I never even fired up. My Echo never slowed down or got dull until I was done. The only reason I ever stopped was to gas and oil and rest. I couldn't believe I had as much wood cut up as I did in 4 hours of cutting. With either my Husky or Jonsred I would have been out there another 4 hours. None these trees had smaller butts than 38". So far this is the best. I am thinking of selling the Husky for a bigger ECHO now. Very satisfied. October 29, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Echo is the way to go The Echo CS-400 was a gift for me from my parents. They bought it for me to cut down a 60' pecan tree in their back yard. Bamboozled right? Well, not really. The CS-400 made light work of the 25" diameter tree. It never bogged down and has the power needed to get the job done. It really did slice through the tree. Now, I've had other less expensive chainsaws in the past. They last several years but they also require a lot of effort on my part which can be exhausting in an already demanding chore. With the CS-400, it's just fun. I spent the following weekend cutting 15 mesquite trees without any problems at all. I ran the Echo CS-400 chainsaw for 6 hours straight with the regular stop for refueling and bar oil and stacking. It starts super easy, it's well balanced and just looks good. It's the hotrod of chainsaws. I will never use anything else. My friends were so impressed, they are buying g Echo's too. My Echo CS-400 is awesome. Buy one and don't look back. October 26, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Instructions If you take the time to read the instructions , their won't be any trouble ! GREAT SAW starts everyone! October 27, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Just what I wanted Purchased the CS400 from my local epuipment dealer after researching chainsaws reviews online. It's features compared very favorably with all top saws in its class. It was the only saw that came with a case and starter kit at no extra charge. I think I got a great saw and a great deal. October 26, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Starts easy and quiet Ive had mine for under a month. So far so good. Fires up on the 1st or 2nd pull October 23, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Dennis. h Works great, always starts on first pull. I've cut up 12 dead trees on the property and cuts like a knife through butter. October 28, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Nice machine. I bought this saw in a package deal to replace my ailing Craftsman of 20+ years. The features are nice and the saw cuts wood like butter but lacks some power for very large logs. I like the easy access filter would have liked slightly better toolless chain tightening. The case is too boxy (could be smaller) and the chain cover comes off and on too tightly. The saw starts very easily every time. The chain brake doesn't seem too useful. October 11, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by GREAT 18" CHAINSAW Have used this chainsaw to cut down 2 large trees one trunk 32" in diameter and another 26" in diameter. Also several small trees. Starts on 1st or second pull every time and cuts fast with no effort. Would not trade for any other brand. Great features including primer bulb and auto type air filter. October 5, 2016
