I installed .130 trimmer line into the trimming head with no issues. The Echo is a work horse. No issues starting it, trimmed my yard and proceeded to cut down about a third of the empty lot next door's field grass/weeds! ***Please see attached photos*** The Echo never came close to stalling, even on the rough stuff! I am very happy with my purchase!

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by rpward51 Good Machine, replace the head
I bought this trimmer about 2-1/2 years ago. It was lightly used up until yesterday. More about that later.
During my first or second use I figured out that the Echo head had to go. I replaced it with a Rino Tuff head which has easily changed plastic blades. Buy and install the Rino Tuff head, buy a replacement pack of blades, and the Echo GT225 becomes a light weight work horse of a trimmer.
Keep in mind that I add Stabil to all my gasoline jerry cans. My GT225 starts on the first couple of pulls every time as long as long I don't have a stupid attack and forget to press the prime plunger, 3 or 4 plunges for a stone cold machine, 1 good plunge for a warm one.
This spring thru my own abject laziness I let our back yard go way, way too long until it was about a foot tall. That was grossly overgrown for my Honda mower so I basically mowed the entire back yard with the Echo. I ran it full bore thru 3 tanks of gas and it never missed I beat.
I am very happy with this little unit, would buy it again, and recommend it.
I would've given it 5 stars if it came with a blade style head.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by bugmann Best I have found
I previously owned the gt225, I wanted another one, but seems the curved shaft only comes with a fixed string head, so I bought a stihl, husqvarna and a toro and took them all back, then I bought another gt225 and bought the new speed loader 400 bump head, could not be more pleased, I use it for my yard and my rental across from me, I trim and now twice a week, the gt225 has lots of power, easy too start, very lightweight, liked it so much, I went and bought another one and speed loader and have it hanging up for the future, you get a 5 year warranty with it, what else could you ask for at such a cheap price?

Did quite a bit of research on this. Talked to some golf courses. Was surprised so many used echo. Have only used for about a month. Works great! Glad I bought the extra Speed--Feed 400 curved shaft trimmer head. I don't like replacing the line all the time. I wish they would include that with the trimmer, instead of the one that comes with it. Hope this helps.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Stewy Starts every time
I have owned this now for a few years and it gets used once a week year around. I don't have to much bad to say about it. It still starts as it did when it was new and it runs along time on 1 tank of fuel. The only things I have replaced has been the spark plug and the air filter. It is loud but so are all gas trimmers. I would buy another one if this ever quits but I would get the straight shaft one next time.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by JGinKC Buy this Head and Its great.
There's a lot of reviews regarding the head that comes with the unit. I was one of the guys who bought in the store and discovered this poor design once I got home and fired it up. The product designer clearly does not trim his/her yard. The installed head was running out of trimmer for me every 20 ft going against a fence like a lot of reviews here. Once it runs down to very short lines you have to shut off the unit, pull out the short stubs and manually insert new ones. I have a 1/2 acre yard and I ran out of the 16 lines that accompanies the unit. I wish I had read beyond the 4 stars and read a few reviews to find the comments about the head. Fortunately, I caught another guy in the store the other day that had one of these in his hand approaching the checkout. He went back and picked out a different one.
That said I was happy to find the "Speed-Feed 400 Curved Shaft Trimmer Head" on line at Homedepot.com that easily replaces the head on this unit. It appears to only be on-line...so beware if you're reading this and think you'll run to the store and solve your problem. Had I read all these I would likely have bought a different trimmer myself as the replacement head and the trimmer begins to get a bit expensive compared to other similar brands.
Once assembled it's great. Someone at Echo needs to rethink their decision. Unless the folks at Home Depot made them do it to be different than other retail outlets.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Jon Pretty good!!
I bought this for my mom for Christmas. She always gets the cheap equipment. She wanted something light and EASY to start. I did manager to convince her to get a husqvarna lawn mower! So we went to look at all the brands at all the stores. Of course she was looking at the cheap ones... After she picked this up she loved it. The head design is a little weird.
Cons: the line it comes with is total junk. It doesn't last long at all. So I told her to get the rhino tuff line and cut it up into pieces like the echo ones. And BAM the line last much longer!! I have a house now and this is what I'm getting.
The only other con to me is the curved shaft. Kind of a pain for a tall person. But I'm not paying an extra 50 bucks for the straight shaft.... If I were going to pay 200 for a weed trimmer I'd get a husqvarna hands down.
