One reason I ordered this one is from a review which said it came assembled and ready to go. I am a 60 year old lady who is not mechanically inclined. I was able to get it started and trim my lawn edges and remove weeds at the sidewalk easily. I purchased some fuel already mixed with oil at a local hardware store so it made it very easy for me. It gets a little heavy for me after awhile but I kept going and cut down my 93 year old neighbor's weeds. I'm very happy with the quality, and it's worth the price!

This is my first Echo purchase, and judging by this trimmer, it won't be my last.
Starts very easily,
Good power for a small engine.
Quiet for a two-stroke.
Will accept 8" blade for tough weeds/reeds/branches.
50/1 premix, no visible exhaust.
I get the impression that the engine is the star here, wish I would have purchased an Echo chainsaw instead of the one I got (one of the big two chainsaw brands).

Very much worth the price, this is probably the best string trimmer I've used. It started with 3 pulls first time, and has been pretty consistently around that. With the pull chord being easy on the arm as well.... It is not super heavy, but has plenty of power. I have determined to use the high quality ethanol free pre-mixed fuel as well. It is more expensive, but for the homeowner, the trimmer is efficient enough that the cost is negligible, and you are guaranteed the best performing fuel for the engine, without risking ethanol damage, treat your engine right and it will be a workhorse... I was very pleased with the bump feed string loader as well, it works great and is in fact very easy to load. No taking things apart, just put the chord through and wind it up, great! I would also recommend the ECHO brand cross-fire chord as well, it is phenomenal, strong and effective. You can get a cheaper trimmer, but I don't think you'll get a better one. Save yourself the hassle and headache of cheaper models and go with this one.

I'm not sure why a few people had such problems with this machine. I have a small lawn care business, I have bought plenty of ryobi's, I have 4 to be exact and not one of them is running. Bought my first echo 2 years ago and is now 1 of the 3 I own. These trimmers will be running off and on for 8 hours a day 3-5 days a week, always starts and never any problems. The only problem i do run into is the primer bulbs drying out and cracking but its a .60cent fix. For those that had problems with feeding the line, its actually a quick feed, you shouldn't have to take it apart to feed it. You need to pull out a strand of line 6-8', feed the ends through the holes then start turning the bump feed clockwise and the string should start winding up. Once you get it wound up it should be a loop of string across the head of the trimmer. cut it in half and your ready to do work. Any other problems you may have, resort back to the owners manual, it will tell you all you need to know. thanks

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Kspie Echo Products - Designed Right, Superb Manufacturing, Great Owner Documentation
I was a 30 year rocket engine designer for the Space Shuttle. I originally purchased a Stihl chainsaw and hedge trimmer. I spent more time trying to start them than actually doing the job. After two uses I needed a carburetor replaced on the hedge trimmer that was just a few days past the warranty period - another $65 plus labor. It still doesn't run well. A landscaper friend had the same experience and told me he replaced them with Echo versions. I bought an Echo chainsaw, then a hedge trimmer, then a blower/vacuum and finally last month a string trimmer. I have never pulled the rope more than two times to start any of them. They are the best gas operated tools I have ever owned. As an engineer I look for design features related to structural failure. Echo's engineers do it right both in design an material selection. They use the right plastics for impact resistance, metal where it's really needed and the ergonomics are well thought out - I can't say enough about Echo products and engineering. Well done Echo, pat yourself on the back, you deserve it. Kirk S., San Luis Obispo, CA

After purchasing the trimmer and reading the owner's manual, I used it for a solid two hours. It started, idled, and worked great with no issues. As mentioned in another review, it uses very little cutting line. I bumped it for more line three times in two hours. Knowing how long I would use the trimmer, I bought strap for it at Home Depot for $7. A strap is the way to go for this trimmer. I also plan on buying the Echo U-handle kit for the trimmer. As far as the hand vibration mentioned in another review, it's addressed in the owner's manual and that will happen when using any power tool for a long time. Once again, I'm very pleased with the trimmer it works great.

I needed a good trimmer to replace an old one I had. I bought this Echo based on the good experience I have had with my Echo chainsaw. I'm not normally a member of the "you get what you pay for" club, but in the case of anything with a 2 stroke engine, I only buy Echo. This is reliable stuff worth paying a little more for.
