Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Hard to start, and that was the best part. Highly rated by others, but I had nothing but problems. Very difficult to start out of the box. Finally got it going and as soon as I did, the string cap flew off, with a resulting mangled mess of line. Had to restring, multiple times. Same recurring issues with the cap popping off. When it ran the motor was strong. Auto line adjust wouldn't work, period. Would restart when warmed up, but after that a real workout. I'm returning it to HD. I may replace it with the same model, as maybe I just got a lemon. July 25, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Highly Recommend It! One reason I ordered this one is from a review which said it came assembled and ready to go. I am a 60 year old lady who is not mechanically inclined. I was able to get it started and trim my lawn edges and remove weeds at the sidewalk easily. I purchased some fuel already mixed with oil at a local hardware store so it made it very easy for me. It gets a little heavy for me after awhile but I kept going and cut down my 93 year old neighbor's weeds. I'm very happy with the quality, and it's worth the price! March 21, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Echo does the job Very happy with this purchase. Very easy pull start. Bought the saw blade and it cuts brush very well. July 28, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Finally cordless! We finally decided to upgrade to a gas powered weed trimmer.....boy what a difference! Super easy to use, easy to start, and makes our life without a cord, so much more pleasant! May 26, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Easy starting This is my first Echo purchase, and judging by this trimmer, it won't be my last. Starts very easily, Good power for a small engine. Quiet for a two-stroke. Will accept 8" blade for tough weeds/reeds/branches. Straight shaft! 50/1 premix, no visible exhaust. I get the impression that the engine is the star here, wish I would have purchased an Echo chainsaw instead of the one I got (one of the big two chainsaw brands). May 15, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Best Trimmer ive ever owned I'm not sure why a few people had such problems with this machine. I have a small lawn care business, I have bought plenty of ryobi's, I have 4 to be exact and not one of them is running. Bought my first echo 2 years ago and is now 1 of the 3 I own. These trimmers will be running off and on for 8 hours a day 3-5 days a week, always starts and never any problems. The only problem i do run into is the primer bulbs drying out and cracking but its a .60cent fix. For those that had problems with feeding the line, its actually a quick feed, you shouldn't have to take it apart to feed it. You need to pull out a strand of line 6-8', feed the ends through the holes then start turning the bump feed clockwise and the string should start winding up. Once you get it wound up it should be a loop of string across the head of the trimmer. cut it in half and your ready to do work. Any other problems you may have, resort back to the owners manual, it will tell you all you need to know. thanks March 20, 2011
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Fantastic trimmer If you are looking for a well built residential trimmer this is the one for you! I've owned John Deere and Ryobi trimmers in the past and this one is a better built, much higher quality trimmer. Just holding this trimmer you can tell how solid it is. Plenty of power to knock down thick weeds and grass...If you are on the fence about this trimmer, jump off and go get it. You won't regret it! June 25, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Top Quality Very much worth the price, this is probably the best string trimmer I've used. It started with 3 pulls first time, and has been pretty consistently around that. With the pull chord being easy on the arm as well.... It is not super heavy, but has plenty of power. I have determined to use the high quality ethanol free pre-mixed fuel as well. It is more expensive, but for the homeowner, the trimmer is efficient enough that the cost is negligible, and you are guaranteed the best performing fuel for the engine, without risking ethanol damage, treat your engine right and it will be a workhorse... I was very pleased with the bump feed string loader as well, it works great and is in fact very easy to load. No taking things apart, just put the chord through and wind it up, great! I would also recommend the ECHO brand cross-fire chord as well, it is phenomenal, strong and effective. You can get a cheaper trimmer, but I don't think you'll get a better one. Save yourself the hassle and headache of cheaper models and go with this one. April 25, 2014
