I've had many string trimmers over the years, but this Echo has been the best by far. This trimmer is light, powerful, quieter than average and reliable. I'm glad I didn't opt for the larger engine, as the 21.2cc has plenty of power and easily tore through two foot tall grasses and weeds. I cut the meadow across the stream and the neighbor's hillside too, on less than a tank of gas; and unlike my previous trimmer, I do not feel the need to wear hearing protection. I previously purchased a Echo blower/vac, and am very please with it as well. Echo does cost a little more than the average, but it once again proves that you get what you pay for.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by TNhills Great Product so far. Your mileage may vary.
After researching quality, durable trimmers, I decided on this model.Note the "i" at the end. It has been very useful and very functional and works as reviewed. I also bought the steel blade attachment kit which is awesome. I only wish that switching back and forth between string trimmer and blade was not as involved as it is, but given the difference in guard types, etc, this is acceptable. Durability is still undetermined, but the device seems pretty solidly built. The shoulder harness (part of the blade kit) is highly recommended.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Frh Solid, reliable trimmer
Bought this a month ago and already put over 40 hours on this machine. Easy starting, reliable, trimmer cord is easy to replace and cuts through heavy weeds with ease. The only drawback is I bought without harness and fatigue on the wrists and hands after an hour on the trimmer is very evident. Highly recommend, however only drawback is the weight on the hands and wrists over a period of time.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by docliv warranty no good
Was less than a year old and had to have a new carb....just quit running suddenly....
Echo will not warranty any fuel issues....even if you use their fuel.....5 year warranty is a joke.
I have 2 other two cycle pieces of equipment using the same fuel and they are running fine.
Plus Dealer has had it for over 3 weeks putting a carb on......
Back to walmart to buy the throw aways.....at least they run for 3 years.....then toss em and buy another.....cheaper in the long run...
Echo has lost a customer.....and by the way.....you can't post a negative review on their website...they won't let you.....so all of those positive testimontals are filtered.....

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by MBurke Awsome trimmer machine, bought 4-17-2014
For me this machine is what I want in a yard trimmer. I go from cutting grass to buzzing a bush. It has the power when needed for thick heavy wet grass and or vine. I put the smack down on what ever grows out of place. Easy starting every time with smooth idle to screaming string like a killer hornet. I love it, I am picky about my tools and it does the job for me every time. I can depend on it. I buy mid grade fuel mix in good two stroke oil and no problems. I do burn out some string but to me that is to be expected as to what I'm smacking down. Great tool. bought it 4-17-2014 and it will scream all day with no problems. Electric or battery tools don't compare to this for what I use it for.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Silvertank Great yard tool
Very easy to assemble, actually stupid easy since the thing is already assembled. Just load the included string and some pre-mix gas. Make sure to use super unleaded as mentioned in the instructions. A few quick pulls and the trimmer is ready for action. The engine warms up quickly and only requires a minimum of choke. The string lengthens with just a tap on the ground. So far, I am very impressed with this unit. My original trimmer was a Toro which functioned for over 15 years before the shaft bearings wore out. The next unit was a Poulan, and that one was utter garbage. Only lasted a few years before the engine refused to start and the pull mechanism broke. Don't ever buy Poulan, it's Chinese junk.
By comparison, the Echo is well designed and super easy to operate.
