I'm assuming you are asking about the Eco SRM 225. If so it has the i30 starting system. Here is a link to Ecos page. I this model and I have to say it's the best one I've ever owned. But it DOES NOT take attachments! I think that's why the previous owner took it back.

Answer:
ECHO's Straight Shaft trimmers can accept a metal blade. In order to add a metal blade onto this model, the Blade Conversion Kit would need to be purchased. The part number for the kit is, #99944200418. This kit will include a shoulder harness, shield and blade hardware.

Only a brush cutter blade this model can not handle a saw blade and if you try will wear out the machine faster. Good luck.

Rated 4.5 out of 5 by 1036 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by After 3 months, so far so good... Every time I go to start this thing I cuss it. Then I remember to flip the "on/off" switch to "On". Then it starts on like the second pull. This thing is very easy to start. It is pretty darn easy to load string (although the string that comes with it isn't the best). The string feeds fairly well with a little "bump" on the ground, but it isn't as easy as some others I have used. This may not be a bad thing. Overall, after a few months use. I 'm very happy with this purchase. If it lasts like this company's products tend to, I will be very happy! August 25, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent I purchased this weed trimmer after owning a Stihl Fs-94 that I was not pleased with. This Echo trimmer literally starts on the first pull (after 1 choke pull), it is well balanced, and has comfortable grips as well.. I bought this because with Echo changing the string is a snap August 9, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great trimmer The only reason I wouldn't give this trimmer five stars is because it does not come with a sling. It is a little long and heavy to work without a sling. Other than that, it is a great trimmer. August 2, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Worth the money I've had many string trimmers over the years, but this Echo has been the best by far. This trimmer is light, powerful, quieter than average and reliable. I'm glad I didn't opt for the larger engine, as the 21.2cc has plenty of power and easily tore through two foot tall grasses and weeds. I cut the meadow across the stream and the neighbor's hillside too, on less than a tank of gas; and unlike my previous trimmer, I do not feel the need to wear hearing protection. I previously purchased a Echo blower/vac, and am very please with it as well. Echo does cost a little more than the average, but it once again proves that you get what you pay for. June 16, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great Product so far. Your mileage may vary. After researching quality, durable trimmers, I decided on this model.Note the "i" at the end. It has been very useful and very functional and works as reviewed. I also bought the steel blade attachment kit which is awesome. I only wish that switching back and forth between string trimmer and blade was not as involved as it is, but given the difference in guard types, etc, this is acceptable. Durability is still undetermined, but the device seems pretty solidly built. The shoulder harness (part of the blade kit) is highly recommended. June 30, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Solid, reliable trimmer Bought this a month ago and already put over 40 hours on this machine. Easy starting, reliable, trimmer cord is easy to replace and cuts through heavy weeds with ease. The only drawback is I bought without harness and fatigue on the wrists and hands after an hour on the trimmer is very evident. Highly recommend, however only drawback is the weight on the hands and wrists over a period of time. July 28, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by warranty no good Was less than a year old and had to have a new carb....just quit running suddenly.... Echo will not warranty any fuel issues....even if you use their fuel.....5 year warranty is a joke. I have 2 other two cycle pieces of equipment using the same fuel and they are running fine. Plus Dealer has had it for over 3 weeks putting a carb on...... Back to walmart to buy the throw aways.....at least they run for 3 years.....then toss em and buy another.....cheaper in the long run... Echo has lost a customer.....and by the way.....you can't post a negative review on their website...they won't let you.....so all of those positive testimontals are filtered..... June 12, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Pro grade I was using another "consumer-grade" trimmer. It did the job but had it's annoying issues. THIS TRIMMER THOUGH. Starts right up, stays on, feeds easy, RELOADS INCREDIBLY QUICK AND EASY, takes .95 line, very powerful (I don't even need to have the throttle fully depressed to make clean cuts). I love this thing. When I'm done edging and trimming my lawn, I get bummed that I have no more use for it and just go hang it up in the shed haha. I stand a whopping 5'9" and find it to be comfortable. Little tip: the trimmer cuts way easier if you follow the direction of the arrow on the shield whenever you are cutting. August 16, 2016
