Was less than a year old and had to have a new carb....just quit running suddenly....
Echo will not warranty any fuel issues....even if you use their fuel.....5 year warranty is a joke.
I have 2 other two cycle pieces of equipment using the same fuel and they are running fine.
Plus Dealer has had it for over 3 weeks putting a carb on......
Back to walmart to buy the throw aways.....at least they run for 3 years.....then toss em and buy another.....cheaper in the long run...
Echo has lost a customer.....and by the way.....you can't post a negative review on their website...they won't let you.....so all of those positive testimontals are filtered.....

By far, the easiest pull start I've ever experienced. The new I-75 start system literally allows you to pull with 2 fingers and it starts.... Minimal vibration and very easy to use. Another nice feature is the ability to replace the line without having the take apart the trimmer head. You simply put the line in the head and turn the head.....SWEET... I
Maybe the single best reason and benefit for the ease of use with this trimmer......My wife was amazed on how easy it was to add line and the ease of starting, she said she might start using the trimmer...... NICE!!!

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Mark21 Awesome Trimmer!!!
I'm going to make this short and to-the-point.... Quit reading and buy this trimmer! After all of my research, this is surely the one I needed to own.
It's perfect for the average homeowner with a very broad amount of trimming and edging to be done. This ranges from light yard trimming, to all-out shrub clearing. It has great power, more than enough. It's also very quiet.
I recommend to ANYONE looking for a fantastic trimmer that WILL last for years I'm sure.
Also, this thing produces ZERO SMOKE! That's amazing compared to what is produced by the other 2-strokes.(non-ECHO)

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by keifer Outstanding tool with few drawbacks
Admission...my local HD did not have the SRM-225i model in stock - only the 225. I went to a smaller local dealer and they sold me the 225i unit for 199.99, which I thought was a great deal so I took it. It was very clear to me that these units can be had for well under retail, so I marked the value column down a notch due to the HD price at retail. With that said however, the unit certainly performs well enough to be worth it's retail value and I thought I would review it to help others who might be in the market. No doubt, the review section of the HD website is terrific so here goes...
-Perfect length and balance for my 6 ft. body. A comparable Stihl I shopped was too long.
-Has good power despite the smaller engine. I can get it to bog down on really heavy stuff at half throttle, but at full throttle, it really hums fine for my residential needs.
-Engine runs smoothly at all RPMs
-Clutch works perfectly as the head does not turn at all at idle. I know that is expected, but many units spin slightly at idle including my last unit (not Echo).
-Speed Feed head is terrific. It works as advertised. Feeding line requires a gentle bump only, not a slam on the ground. In addition it is very simple to feed new line. Today, I caught the trimmer head onto a tent stake rope used to hold own my outdoor shelter. The rope wrapped around the speed feed head and all the line was actually sucked up into the head. This is unusual and certainly a stupid decision on my part to get close to a rope....but, the point is...the head came apart easily without any tools. I had the line off the head in seconds, put the head back together and used the speed feed mechanism to rewrap the line. The whole process was quick and clean. I really like this head a lot and would say that it is the best bump feed head I have ever used at this point.
-Forward handle is comfortable and adjustable.
-Starting is fine, but not totally intuitive yet. Pulling the rope on the 225i requires little effort, which is great, but the unit needs 4-8 pulls to get going cold. Once warm, one pull is all it takes. Maybe after a few more cold starts I'll get better at this and the unit will be broken in a touch more, but for now starting is slightly finicky.
-Not quiet. Not too obnoxious, but ear protection is required.
-Small debris shield is a strange choice. It is clearly smaller than most other trimmers in this class and reduces flying debris only minimally. Larger here would be better although it might upset the balance a bit. I would trade a touch of balance for more protection.
-At this price, I think that more features would be nice. First of all, I would prefer a momentary off switch instead of the static switch which is either in the on or off position. In addition, a shoulder strap would be nice. Finally, the units above this model have a nice rubberized throttle handle instead of hard plastic. I would prefer the comfort of the rubber handle.
I do understand that Echo needs to include the features I would like to see in higher end models to differentiate their product line. My only true gripe would therefore be the small debris shield.
Overall though, I think this tool is very nice and I would recommend the unit to others.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by PowrHaus I Love This Trimmer
After poking around Echo's website I settled on this trimmer because of the ease in starting. Unfortunately HD didn't carry this in my local store, but offered to ship it to me. Upon receiving it I put it together and was surprised at how simple it was to start. Yes, Echo's website said it was, but I wasn't sure if that was marketing speak or what. This trimmer is very simple to use and starts easily on the first or second pull. It takes no effort whatsoever to pull the starter rope. The trimmer works well and I love the fact that it can be re-strung without tools.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by DenWim Easy to start.
You get what you pay for. Easy to start. I wish the debris shield was bigger. And I wish it came with a shoulder harness, which is an optional part. I have not changed the line yet, but the bump feed works fine. Very satisfied.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Vince Great buy
I made my purchase 3 yrs ago and have not had one problem. A buddy purchased a Ryobi weed eater and laughed at the price I paid. He has had to replace his with an Echo. Make the write purchase once and do your homework. Electric is for condo dwellers.

I bought this for my business and it has been a workhorse that never has given me any problems. It starts on the first pull and does an excellent job. Buy it, you'll be glad you did!
