what gauge string do i use for the GT225

the nylon stringers come out of the heads when i weed grass at high speed?

I use LoNoiz .130-Inch-by-150-Foot Spool Commercial Grade Spiral Twist Quiet. It is awesome trimmer line! I use needle nose pliers to remove it from the trimmer head when nit needs replacing, as it is usually tight. But inserting new line is no issue at all!

Is this product worth the money and has anyone had to use the warranty ?

Asked by: Anonymous
Purchased this two years ago. It's easy to use, light weight and starts very easily every time. However last week I noticed some gas leaking. Found that the fuel line to the PCV valve was splitting. The user manual indicates that warranty is for five years including the fuel lines. The manual also indicates that fuel with 10% ethanol is fine. Took it to an authorized service center and they claimed that fuel system not covered by warranty because use with ethanol fuel. My choice was to argue about it or buy the part myself and install. Service center also said 3 week wait for service. Clearly they did not want to handle this, and I couldn't wait 3-weeks, so I bought the 3-hose fuel line assembly for $18 and installed it myself in 10 minutes. This is a great trimmer but you can't depend on the quality or warranty.

Are these trimmers good for edging?

Asked by: Anonymous
no the curved head is difficult to get into position and you will have a hard time keeping string in it that's if you can get it started.

:Having trouble getting the gt-225 curved model started. Thought I followed directions. What could I be doing wrong ?

My first unit would not start at all with the starter pack and regular unleaded fuel. Your better off to use a higher grade fuel or a 50:1 premix. I swapped out my first one for another and it started right up. I made sure to do it there at Home Depot so I did not become a traveler of multiple trips.

I replaced my old Echo. It was over 10 years old and had performed well for all those years. I never had to take it in for any reason. Because of that record, I purchased the new one. I really like this product and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Absolute satisfaction!! I am 80 years old and still take care of my 10 acres. This is the FIRST weed-eater I have ever had that was easy to start, easy to reload string and light enough to weed-eat around all of my Crepe Myrtles. I have about 100 . Love the weedeater.

Gas models just last longer if they are maintained. I would recommend putting a Speed Feed head on this trimmer, as it makes trimming about 5 times quicker, but it takes some practice. It has never failed me yet. During the winter, I empty the gas out and run the motor until it's dry to protect the engine. I'm strongly thinking of getting an Echo gas leaf blower too. If you treat it right, this thing will serve you well. I have no problem starting it, but some shorter people may not have the arm length. You have to have some range of motion to pull the cord. Shorter people should consider something else.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great features I purchased the Echo to replace my 12 year old Weed Eater Featherlite. I wanted something lightweight and the dealer recommended the Echo. The 5 year warranty was a huge factor in the decision. It is easy to start and I like the clutch feature where the cutting head is stationary until powering up. The Rapid Loader head, which was also a feature the dealer had positive recommendations, was just as advertised. However, after using it over two weekends; cutting along 300ft of fence and using it to trim grass along the house foundation, rapid loading became just that, having to stop and load several times. I purchased the Speed Feed cutting head and now the Echo is perfect.

Replacing the head makes it usable and fairly capable. For some reason I have better control with a curved shaft and this was the only choice. As is, out of box, this thing is useless. Worst trimmer I ever used. spent more time putting in and cutting strings then I did trimming. Then the strings became stuck and I had to jam a nail into the hole to remove. Totally unacceptable. After changing the head to a speed feed 400 it is a fairly good trimmer. It gets a low score for being terrible out of the box. We will see if it starts next spring.

Many years ago I had a week eater with the headed loaded with string, but something always seemed to go wrong. I can load the strings on this in a flash and keep cutting. Even though brand new, it fired right up after pumping the primer bulb and about six pulls. Now it starts right up on the second pull. The .095" string is plenty strong, too. I did my entire front yard without having to replace any strings, and it just kept going. I have no doubt this trimmer will keep my lawn trimmed and edged for many years to come.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great buy I bought this little Echo a year ago as a back-up for my main trimmer that is always in the shop. (it's a high dollar husqvarna) Anyway, the Husqvarna has been in the shop this Spring so I have only been using this little Echo. What a beauty it is! Starts every time and has enough power to do my yard. I don't buy the pre-cut string since it doesn't seem to last as long as the heavy duty roll. I just pre-cut sections out before I start with it and put them in my pocket. Going to replace my Husqvarna with a larger Echo straight shaft on my next trip to Home Depot. (i'm tall so the curved shaft is ok for a back-up)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This gas trimmer is so user friendly that it practically starts and runs itself!! The original Echo trimmer of the same model I purchased over 10 yrs ago stopped working only because I had caught a piece of nylon twine in the shaft and was unable to get the head off to fix myself. While in the shop being repaired, I needed a trimmer, and decided to get another, so I could retire the original for use as a back-up. I am a single 65 yr old lady, maintaining a 2 acre yard by herself and this trimmer is more than worth the cost. It is light weight and almost effortless to start, and if it ever turns over while transporting...it will not leak fuel. I highly recomment this trimmer for use by adults.
