Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Matt Trimmer head defect
Took about three hours to finally figure out why when the trimmer head was tapped to the ground the line would "re-tract " rather than release more line. The head was assembled from the manufacturer backwards. The "quick" line install would only turn CCW but not CW as the manual instructs. I removed the head, took out brass nut and turned plastic gear upside down and now it works. Line will now quick install and will now release more line when tapped to ground. Frustrated that had to waste 3 hours but at least it now works. I suspect mine is not the only one with head assembly defect. Hope this helps someone with similar issue.

The unit started right up after the first few pulls. It's powerful enough to trim and edge for the average home "yard man". However, the unit did not come with a strap for for looping around your shoulders. It's not a heavy unit, for if you have a large area to trim and edge, it will become heavy after a while. All in all, it's a great unit. With my experience with "Husky" products, you can't go wrong. They consistantly build quality products at an affordable price.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Fixer48 Great trimmer but manual is lacking
Although I've only used this trimmer for about an hour I have little to complain about. Due to some reports of hard starting and winter storage coming on I'm using the pre-mixed fuel sold in Home Depot. The trimmer started and ran with no problems when I followed the manual's instructions. Unfortunately, the manual is very repetitive when it comes to safety topics and is lacking in other places. Two come to mind: (1) If you need to remove the spool from the Speed Feed head it must be reinstalled one way. One side of the spool has an "L" stamped on it and the other side has "R". The "L" must face away from the trimmer. (2) There are two screws that hold the engine cover in place. The screw with the coarse threads and rounded top is close to the starter rope. The screw with the fine threads and flat top goes in the hole close to the muffler.
As others have mentioned, a shoulder strap would help reduce arm fatigue. I'll look into purchasing one. I've also discovered when edging that the engine doesn't run in all positions (probably not getting fuel) so i have some learning to do in that regard.

I purchased the optional blade kit with shoulder harness. I could not believe how this Echo SRM-225 cut through the thick brush and ferns, I installed the blade kit before i ever used the unit, so the grass string trimmer pieces are brand new.
This is the best investment i could have made. Starts right up, Idles very smooth, Balances perfectly on the shoulder harness. The instructions even showed me how to sharpen the blade myself with a flat file.
SUPER MACHINE!!! And a 5 year warranty, I am very happy with my ECHO

These weed trimmers are the best on the market in my opinion! I have tried many different styles and types of weed trimmers and these are hands down the top of the line units. I have owned an Echo weed trimmer for the last 12 years and it starts on the first pull without fail even after setting idle for months! You cannot go wrong by purchasing this item from Home Depot, they are fast and friendly and a pleasure to do business with.

This tool is very simple to use, reloading the line is easy, and the motor is not very loud. Highly recommended!

My first straight shaft trimmer. Had several curved models. The cutting end on all straight shaft units rotate CCW rather then CW. It takes some getting use to and rethinking the direction and stance I take when edging walkways and the driveway. Still working out the details. I have used it 3 X now and it starts easily as advertised. I only gave it 4 * because I only have it a short time.
