I was using another "consumer-grade" trimmer. It did the job but had it's annoying issues. THIS TRIMMER THOUGH. Starts right up, stays on, feeds easy, RELOADS INCREDIBLY QUICK AND EASY, takes .95 line, very powerful (I don't even need to have the throttle fully depressed to make clean cuts).
I love this thing. When I'm done edging and trimming my lawn, I get bummed that I have no more use for it and just go hang it up in the shed haha.
I stand a whopping 5'9" and find it to be comfortable.
Little tip: the trimmer cuts way easier if you follow the direction of the arrow on the shield whenever you are cutting.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by GW588 Great trimmer, but not reliable
This is a really good trimmer with a really cheap ignition coil. I have purchased two Echo products - a blower and this trimmer. I purchased both from Home Depot. The problem with both devices is a poor quality ignition coil The trimmer starts pretty quickly, but after it runs for 5-10 minutes, the coil stops sparking and the entire unit has to cool for 30 minutes prior to running for another 5-10 minutes. If you have the skills to replace the coil, it will cost another $50 for a new coil. If you don't have the skills to replace, then plan on throwing the unit away because you will never find a dealer willing to replace the coil the small amount they get from the factory and all the hassle to collect their labor cost. I called the only Echo Authorized Repair shop in my area and they said we won't repair for the reasons cited above. If you happen to get a unit with a good coil, you are lucky.

I am very pleased with this Echo Trimmer model # SRM-225, it is a very powerful trimmer and more than adequate for my purpose. I will be only using this trimmer around my house and I can honestly say that it is just as powerful as the FS 250 Sthil Trimmers I use at work. I love how easy it is to start and the speed feed head works great!!! I am very impressed with this product from Echo I would highly recommend this product to any home owner in the market for a new Trimmer.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Huffer01 Pleasantly surprised!
Brought this home today because I was in desperate need of a functioning trimmer. Well let me tell you, what a surprise this unit was. Starts easily, surprisingly powerful and lighter than I expected. It cut through grass that was 18" or 20" tall and hardly slowed down. Had I known, I would have thrown my old one away weeks ago. Of course, I wish I paid less, but the unit is top notch. I paid a little more hoping it was going to be worth it and it really was.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by FKingPSUCE Very impressed with the SRM-225 trimmer. Light, powerful, easy to use.
I have had the SRM-225 for about 2 weeks now and have used it about 3 hours total, but my early impressions are VERY good. I was going to spend the extra for the 225i, but my local HD didn't have it on the shelf, so I went with the "plain" 225. The i30 system makes it VERY easy to start and I don't see where the extra money for the "i" model would be justified.
The 225 seems to be very fuel efficient. I trim my 2 acres on a single tank of fuel. It had quite a bit of torque and easily cuts through weeds and light brush. The trimmer is relatively light IMO and well balanced. I can hold it with one hand and trim when I need the extra reach. I was also surprised by the lack of vibration.
I don't have a single regret buying the SRM-225 and I would recommend it without hesitation.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by BelieveInTheMostHigh Excellent & powerful
I owned 4 or 5 cheap weed eaters and decided to go with a better quality unit this time. The last unit I had was a Murray & it was a terrible ordeal when it was warranty time. They told me to go to the authorize repair shop & they said, "it won't be covered under warranty & it will cost more to fix it...yadah, yadah, blah, blah..." Looked online and it was the universal response to others! So, with that said, THANK YOU to Murray and the gang for being horrible because it prompted me to buy this wonderful machine. It feels premium and is powerful. I had to get used to the straight shaft though, but I am learning. A MUST BUY if you are serious about getting through the yard chores without a "cuss word" fest. Oh yeah, one more thing (like Columbo would say), learn how to use the auto string feeder properly and smile each time you do.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by MDBLC Best trimmer I've ever owned
I bought this product for my dad for Father's Day when our old Echo GT200 finally quit. It has been very impressive so far. The engine (like the old Echo) is very easy to start and it is relatively quiet. The exhaust doesn't smoke and the smell is pretty tolerable. The best features are the handles. Both the trigger and the handle are very well made and it reduces vibration considerably. The trimmer itself cuts like a knife. It slices weeds, grass, and anything else that gets in its way. It is pretty friendly on gas consumption too. Overall this has to be the best trimmer I've ever owned. Make sure you properly mix 89 or higher grade fuel with 2 stroke oil, 50:1. It will not run properly if you don't mix it 50:1 or use higher octane fuel. Also, let it warm up about a minute before using on cold starts. Definitely recommend this trimmer! P.s. Using Echo Powerfuel in the beginning is a good way to help break the engine in. After that, regular 50:1 mixing will do just fine.
