Curious why Echo doesn't show horsepower ratings like some other brands? Regardless of cubic centimeters, I don't want a trimmer less than 1.25 hp

Answer:
Yes, this model does cut an edge pretty well. The trimmer can be rotated in order to cut a horizonal edge along walks or flower beds.

Answer:
The SRM-265T is designed for use as a trimmer only. However, ECHO does offer a Straight Shaft Edger Attachment (Part number #99944230001) which allows the end used to covert a standard ECHO SRM into a Straight Shaft Edger by replacing the gearbox, shield and cutting head with a straight shaft edger.

Rated 4.6 out of 5 by 67 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by EXCELLENT WORKHORSE My 20 year old Echo finally died. This high-torque model is heavier, But I sometimes have to deal with overgrown areas. The 266T is well built and starts easily. It runs smoothly and because of it's higher torque, it doesn't need to run at high rpm in order to keep from bogging down. I'm very pleased with this workhorse and hope it will also give me years of service. April 12, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Easy to start if you know how I have the 280T model and it absolutely rips, instant torque. Mine always starts on the third pull even when not used for 6 months. Here is how: unscrew the gas cap a bit to release any vacuum; prime well; choke ON; toggle trottle1-2; Crank 1-3, not more than 3x. You should hear an engine cough at this point. Choke OFF, primer, screw gas cap tight. Put pinky on trottle and toggle as you crank 1-2 times. Should start easy. Overall I only crank 3-4 times for an easy start every time. The trick seems to be to release the gas tank vacuum, and to not overcrank with choke on, then toggle trottle as you crank. June 16, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by A great string trimmer The motor purred like a kitten...very smooth, powerful, idled well, never died, and easy to start. It cut through high, tough weeds and grass nicely. Seems like a very high quality machine. A little less costly than the Stil product, but still a little costly...you probably get what you pay for, however. It would be nice, if a shoulder strap was included for long cut jobs. September 16, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Turns backward This is a serious, well-built machine, meant for heavy duty commercial use. The engine starts easily, the cutting head re-strings easily. Potential buyers should be aware that, for a right-handed operator, the string head rotates backwards. The head tends to throw clippings and debris back in the face of the operator. For this reason, this trimmer gets a four star rating, not a five. August 5, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by AWESOME Trimmer!!!! I bought this trimmer after my Ryobi went down. I had it delivered to my home, got it out of the box and it was preassembled! Filled it with fuel, primed it, pulled three times, and it was off to trimming. This machine has all the power you could ask for and more. Tackles all the tough weeds without hesitation! Very torquey as well!! I am very pleased with all aspects of this trimmer. Starts right up now with two pulls, and the pulls take little effort!! I don't even need to prime the bulb unless I run it completely out of fuel. Just pull it once on choke, and pull it once more off choke, and we are off!! I've never looked back since!! From now on, Echo it will be!!! SUPER HAPPY!!!!! September 16, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent Trimmer Worth every penny. High quality, easy to start and handle. I own a 1/2 acre mountain property with spring grasses and weeds. My other brand trimmer didnt last one year. The Echo works exactly as advertised. This trimmer trims heavy grass and weeds with on a tank and a half of gas and less that one spool of line. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Powerful tool for precise trimming This SRM-266T is the second one I have purchased. The first one I owned for a mowing business and I sold the trimmer as part of a package deal. I've been kicking myself ever since. So when I moved to an acreage and needed a trimmer I definitely bought one of these again. It starts very easily using the procedure in the manual. It has plenty of power and doesn't bog down when trimming. Other trimmers I've used would scalp because the trimmer would bog, slow down and let the line droop, but I've never had that problem with this Echo. It has a powerful engine and it has a larger gearbox at the trimmer head, allowing a higher torque gear ratio which keeps the line from slowing down even in thicker grass. July 24, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by This tool is awesome for big yards. I love Echo products. This one is just as good as the other. I'm not pleased about being forced into a California compliant model, but ok. The unit starts right up and has the power to get through the ground cover I have here. In addition the bump line feed works great and the balance of the unit prevents fatigue. It is a great tool.
