does it have a saw blade

At one time I had a weed wacker (gas) with a saw blade that coould be attached for trimming branches and stalks. Does this product do that?
Asked by: Anonymous
It does not have it with it but you can get a brush cutter kit for it that will come with the blade strap and other hardware. I think the kit sells for around $50 to $75 if i remember correctly. Here is the part number for that kit 99944200418 from Echos web sight. Hope this helps

With the higher torque how much less of a cutting speed will I get? How dirty if a cut will it make compared to a 21.1c

Asked by: Spenc
The gear reduction is the difference between engine speeds, and the attachment speeds. Gear reduction ratios are used when the high engine speeds need to be converted to lower speed torque. Torque referred to the twisting motion of the attachment which is used needed to drive the attachment under load.

Does the SRM 280 T run with same engine RPM's and same cutter head speed as the 280 without the extra torque?

Asked by: Othmar
The SRM-280T and SRM-280 feature the same engine displacement and performance. The SRM-280T has a high torque gear case that will provide 50% more torque at the cutting head. The advantage to the 50% more torque is the engine will not be put under as heavy of a load in demanding applications. The SRM-280 does not have the extra torque, but it has a faster head speed. The faster head speed results in a cleaner cut for lawn maintenance.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beast trimmer Clears heavy brush like a champ! I'm very happy with this 2- stroke brute.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing Machine! What a pleasant surprise to get to work and have the trimmer do all of the hard stuff. I was able to dig out old growth from around cemetery stones without hardly any effort from me. The power of this echo trimmer is outstanding. I am a big fan of Echo and am happy that Home Depot carries such a fine product. Almost perfect. The slight con is with the style of head. The string head is a little difficult to access and does not close completely without some strong force. I'll be reverting to an older style for familiarity and comfort.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good power, reliability Trimmer has tons of power and really does its job, cuts through just about anything with the trimmer line. The only beef I have with the trimmer is the loss of power when you place it vertical to edge along a lawn. It just doesn't seem designed to handle that position. Other than that it's great.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best trimmer ever! Upgraded my SRM-225 because I own a small lawn service. Wow what a difference! Like all my other Echos it starts in no more than 3 pulls, has tons of power while being super efficient, and is so comfortable. I put on a high capacity speed feed head and just trimmed 3 foot tall grass with no bog down and I didn't even get dirty! Stick with the best, stick with Echo!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excllent Trimmer I made the switch to Echo with the purchase of the PAS kit about 7 years ago at a smaller home - for the last 2 years the same kit has helped me manage my 1/4 acre lot beautifully, but it was time to upgrade. I ended up going with this trimmer and could not say better things about it. The speed loading of line is great, the engine starts easily and powers through thick weeds, and i especially like how when idling the head does not spin. My only grip would be it has more vibration than the PAS it replaced, but I expected that given the larger engine. I bought the matching edger as well and am just as happy. Worth the extra money by far. Be sure to register!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Top Power My 3rd Echo trimmer in 7 years but please read on, this isn't a negative review. I've been in commercial landscape/lawncare for over 25 years and I've used and tried everything out there. I demand quality for my own personal tools. After years of purchasing one-season "throw-away" trimmers I stepped up to the Echo SRM210 in '05. I was skeptical and it didn't have the power of a previously stolen $300+ trimmer but for 5 hard years of use it was utterly unstoppable. Once it got past the warranty it started to get a little finicky but still serviceable. For roughly the same asking price and same 5 year warranty I decided to get an SRM225. Most every componant from the old 210 is interchangeable so I'd have a nice supply of back-up parts should I damage the new 225. For the price, quality, and warranty the 225 is hard to beat. After the first year I considered how hard I'd run the 210 and decided I didn't want to do that to my "new" 225 and started shopping for a larger unit for heavier use. I decided on the SRM280 and I couldn't be happier with my choice. Heavy Duty! Easy starts and absolute power, I've never run (much less owned) a stronger string trimmer. It does weigh more and consume more fuel but those are trade-offs I can easily live with. No need for saw blades or gimmick trimmer heads, raw power cuts through the tough stuff with ease. I'm more than satisfied, I'm impressed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome! The trimmer works great. Starts right away and the power is incredible. When going thru thick or tall weeds it cuts them down with ease.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Trimmer Very powerful; rips through the toughest jobs easily. A bit loud and drinks the gas, but very good tool.
