Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Guest So far, so good.
I've only used it a couple of times so far but it has performed well. It's fairly well balanced and has plenty of power. It also seems more fuel efficient than any trimmer I've used. If it lasts well and continues to perform as it does now, I'll be a happy customer.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by woody Best weed whacker I have ever owned
Excellent weed whacker with the exception of the dual string trimmer head. It pops apart and parts go flying while trimming for no reason.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by old sarge It's a monster buy one
We have 5 acres and a lot of oak trees with little saplings trying to grow around the big trees, lots of weeds, etc. and tall grass. This 280T is a monster, doesn't use a lot of gas, and I went almost 2 1/2 hours without putting line in it, incredible. If you hit something the size of a pencil or smaller, it shreds it, period. I have a metal blade for stuff bigger than a pencil. I use the .105 line and the store bought pre mix fuel.Blow the dust off your wallet and buy one you cheap skate. No, you don't have to ask your wife first just do it. She would spend $400 without asking you, I guarantee it pal.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by ArkansasBob Excellent trimmer!
I have always used echo in the past when I had a mowing service and loved them . I recently started my lawn care business back up after being out of the business for a little over 10 years. I started out with other equipment and they work ok but not quite to the level I expect from my equipment so I ordered the srm 28 and could not be happier! The machine starts easy has more than enough power to do any task you might ask of it and it runs so smooth! I would recommend it to anyone looking for a trimmer

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by lbdillar Great Trimmer for Tall Grass and Brushcutting
The SRM 280T is the ideal weed eater for users who want to tackle tall grass, vines, and even rose bushes. The trimmer has more than ample power, and never even pretends to bog down even in waist high grass. The speed feed head is essentially perfect and I bet that every other decent brand is trying to mimic it. The head is simple to load (almost to the point where you question whether you are doing it right), it dispenses line with a light bump, and it almost never wraps itself in tall weeds like other brands that I have had (stihl, craftsman, and even an older echo). Furthermore, the design of the trimmer is clearly to provide comfort for the user. The rubberized plastic grips on both the throttle and grip are soft in the hand, and the trimmer cranks with minimal pulling (so much so that my 55 year old mom can start it).
The biggest reason that I’m not giving the SRM 280T 5 stars is that it doesn’t cut lawn grass evenly, and that it is heavier than many other trimmers I have used. The if you are buying the trimmer with the goal of keeping a well-manicured lawn the SRM 280T is not for you, but I would however recommend a smaller echo trimmer. Everything I have ever owned produced by echo is top of the line and this trimmer was no different.
