Customer Questions & Answers

does it have a saw blade

At one time I had a weed wacker (gas) with a saw blade that coould be attached for trimming branches and stalks. Does this product do that?
Asked by: Anonymous
It does not have it with it but you can get a brush cutter kit for it that will come with the blade strap and other hardware. I think the kit sells for around $50 to $75 if i remember correctly. Here is the part number for that kit 99944200418 from Echos web sight. Hope this helps

With the higher torque how much less of a cutting speed will I get? How dirty if a cut will it make compared to a 21.1c

Asked by: Spenc
The gear reduction is the difference between engine speeds, and the attachment speeds. Gear reduction ratios are used when the high engine speeds need to be converted to lower speed torque. Torque referred to the twisting motion of the attachment which is used needed to drive the attachment under load.

Does the SRM 280 T run with same engine RPM's and same cutter head speed as the 280 without the extra torque?

Asked by: Othmar
The SRM-280T and SRM-280 feature the same engine displacement and performance. The SRM-280T has a high torque gear case that will provide 50% more torque at the cutting head. The advantage to the 50% more torque is the engine will not be put under as heavy of a load in demanding applications. The SRM-280 does not have the extra torque, but it has a faster head speed. The faster head speed results in a cleaner cut for lawn maintenance.

Horse Power

What is this rated at in HP ? THis needs to be made known to compare to other brands. The other major brands list this.
Asked by: catfishlee
ECHO does not do testing for horsepower ratings because there is no standard between companies or regulations on accuracy of the information that the companies provide. However, the EPA does do testing on all manufacturers for horsepower, torque and emissions. The results of the EPA testing can be found on the EPA website. The results are listed under "Nonroad Small Spark-Ignition Engine Certification Data" and the file is called "2007 - 2011 Model Year Engine Family and Models & Parts Information" Please click on the link below, for the EPA web site. http://www.epa.gov/OMS/certdata.htm#smallsi

2 Cycle 28.1 cc Straight Shaft Gas Trimmer is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 70.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Workhorse Trimmer This is my second SRM-280. I gave the first away to my daughter. This trimmer runs and runs. I was always buying the ones on sale at my local home center and they seemed to be under powered and would have to run at full speed to get the job done. I asked a local small engine repairman why I see lanwcare pros trimming with their trimmers seemingly at idle while trimming, and I have to have mine at full speed. He said it was the trimmer and pointed me to the SRM -280. It does cost more but it will outlast the others. I have 6 acres with fences, trees and low spots that need a reliable trimmer. That is why I bought my second SRM -280T.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It's a monster buy one We have 5 acres and a lot of oak trees with little saplings trying to grow around the big trees, lots of weeds, etc. and tall grass. This 280T is a monster, doesn't use a lot of gas, and I went almost 2 1/2 hours without putting line in it, incredible. If you hit something the size of a pencil or smaller, it shreds it, period. I have a metal blade for stuff bigger than a pencil. I use the .105 line and the store bought pre mix fuel.Blow the dust off your wallet and buy one you cheap skate. No, you don't have to ask your wife first just do it. She would spend $400 without asking you, I guarantee it pal.
