Customer Questions & Answers

does it have a saw blade

At one time I had a weed wacker (gas) with a saw blade that coould be attached for trimming branches and stalks. Does this product do that?
Asked by: Anonymous
It does not have it with it but you can get a brush cutter kit for it that will come with the blade strap and other hardware. I think the kit sells for around $50 to $75 if i remember correctly. Here is the part number for that kit 99944200418 from Echos web sight. Hope this helps

With the higher torque how much less of a cutting speed will I get? How dirty if a cut will it make compared to a 21.1c

Asked by: Spenc
The gear reduction is the difference between engine speeds, and the attachment speeds. Gear reduction ratios are used when the high engine speeds need to be converted to lower speed torque. Torque referred to the twisting motion of the attachment which is used needed to drive the attachment under load.

Does the SRM 280 T run with same engine RPM's and same cutter head speed as the 280 without the extra torque?

Asked by: Othmar
The SRM-280T and SRM-280 feature the same engine displacement and performance. The SRM-280T has a high torque gear case that will provide 50% more torque at the cutting head. The advantage to the 50% more torque is the engine will not be put under as heavy of a load in demanding applications. The SRM-280 does not have the extra torque, but it has a faster head speed. The faster head speed results in a cleaner cut for lawn maintenance.

2 Cycle 28.1 cc Straight Shaft Gas Trimmer is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 74.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from It's a monster buy one We have 5 acres and a lot of oak trees with little saplings trying to grow around the big trees, lots of weeds, etc. and tall grass. This 280T is a monster, doesn't use a lot of gas, and I went almost 2 1/2 hours without putting line in it, incredible. If you hit something the size of a pencil or smaller, it shreds it, period. I have a metal blade for stuff bigger than a pencil. I use the .105 line and the store bought pre mix fuel.Blow the dust off your wallet and buy one you cheap skate. No, you don't have to ask your wife first just do it. She would spend $400 without asking you, I guarantee it pal.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Workhorse Trimmer This is my second SRM-280. I gave the first away to my daughter. This trimmer runs and runs. I was always buying the ones on sale at my local home center and they seemed to be under powered and would have to run at full speed to get the job done. I asked a local small engine repairman why I see lanwcare pros trimming with their trimmers seemingly at idle while trimming, and I have to have mine at full speed. He said it was the trimmer and pointed me to the SRM -280. It does cost more but it will outlast the others. I have 6 acres with fences, trees and low spots that need a reliable trimmer. That is why I bought my second SRM -280T.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great powerful trimmer! I have bought many pieces of echo equipment over the years because they are always reliable and get the job done. I needed a more powerful trimmer for overgrown yards. This trimmer has performed flawlessly and has lived up to my expectations! It tears through tall weeds and grass without needed full throttle much of the time. If you need something powerful then I would highly recommend the echo srm-280t.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Cpenn00 I bought this one because I had a1100 curved since 1989 to present. Just wanted to up size. It's a great weed eater and very strong. I wouldn't have any other brand. Thanks for building such a great product. I have even bought a blower from you all this year and it is amazing as well. Thanks Chris Pennington. Justin tx

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Cadillac of String Trimmers The SRM-280T is Echo's most expensive professional-level line trimmer and for good reason. It will handle the toughest string trimming jobs easily with plenty of power and torque to spare. There is a reason why this is the string trimmer that you most often see on the trucks of landscapers and lawn care professionals. My unit was delivered quickly and arrived fully assembled - ready to go right out of the box. I filled it up with premix, pushed on the priming bulb the recommended 8 - 10 timers and then pulled on the starter cord with the choke on to get the engine to pop. Two pulls on the cord were all that was required - one more pull on the cord with the choke off and the engine fired right up! The extra power and torque enable the operator to run the engine at a much lower rpm than other trimmers. This not only saves on gas and engine wear & tear, it also reduces wear on the cutting string, which means saving even more money by using less string. Echo's commitment to manufacturing a quality product which incorporates the latest technology coupled with great safety features makes this trimmer well worth the up front investment.
