This chainsaw is no joke, and is an awesome purchase!
I did plenty of research when my old Husqvarna Rancher 455 chainsaw died last weekend. My old saw was struggling to get thru the main part of the tree, perhaps because of an older chain, or just the wear and tear on it. It had always been a good saw. I stopped to sharpen the chain, and refuel, and it never started again... The repair guy told me it wouldnt be with it to try to fix, so i started looking for a new one.
I compared the standard brands and models in the cc engine I was looking for. I read plenty of reviews comparing the Stihl, Husqvarna, Echo and a few others. I was a leaning towards the first two brands, until I went and checked them out in person, and wasn't overly thrilled with the new way the Stihl saws start. I liked the Husqie but it was the most expensive in the comparison, so I ended up getting the Echo for a few reasons. Im not going to lie, reading all of these excellent reviews was part of my decision. These reviews aren't wrong. This chainsaw is awesome!
This is the best bang for the buck, since its got the most power per dollar, in my caparison. The operational features are simple. yet effective. I was able to finish cutting the down tree, that I was struggling with using my old Husqvarna, in about 2 minutes. Im not kidding, using this saw was like a knife thru hot butter. It ripped thru the trunk in so little time and effort, that I felled the second oak tree and cut it into pieces before my girlfriend even got home from grocery shopping. Even she was amazed out how fast the progress was when she got home, and I was already stacking the pieces. Since it was so efficient, I used much less oil and gas in the 1 cutting session than I did in the hours I was cutting the day before.
I am completely satisfied with this saw, and would easily recommend it to anyone. It comes with a 5 year warranty, and its always comforting that you can get Echo parts at any Home Depot. 5 stars and happy about this purchase!

I had originally bought the smaller 40cc Echo chainsaw at HD and was very unhappy--I brought it back to the store and they accepted it as a return with no problem, and based on the reviews I spent the extra money and got this one instead. What a difference between the first one and this one! I live in the Northeast and this chainsaw rips through hardwoods like maple, oak and ash with no problem. It's very powerful, maybe a little heavy, but that's to be expected with a bigger engine. I have about 15 trees I plan on taking down across my property, some of them 12" or 14" inches in diameter at the base and I have no doubt that this beast will be able to handle it.
It can be a little tricky to start but not if you follow the starting directions, which are really simple.

35 years ago I bought a HOMELITE 360 PRO. This also was a beast, and I was very reluctant to replace it, but alas, parts no longer available. Bought the ECHO with skeptism, but after a couple uses I am very impresses. It is just as heavy as what I am used to, cuts just as well or maybe even better, and here is the kicker. I am just shy of 70 years ols, and it starts very easily for me. I cut with my youngest son often and we split a lot of wood also. Hope to enjoy it for at least 10 more years or untill heart attack, which ever comes first. LOL

Assembly was quick and easy with well written instructions. I did tension the chain again after I ran the saw a couple of minutes.
The engine starts easily. Just don't forget to push the compression release button. Hard to pull if you don't.
As for cutting, the saw will almost cut by itself when you lay it across a timber. It makes effortless cuts and the saw is remarkably smooth due to isolation in the saw frame. I tested the saw on 10" oak and 6" maple. I am not exaggerating when I say the saw went through them like a knife through hot butter! Outstanding performance for the serious user.

So far I've only run 3 tanks of gas through this saw but I'm convinced I made the right decision with Echo. It's amazing the stack of wood I've piled up with only 3 tanks. I've run chain saws my whole life and this is by far the best I've had the pleasure to run. It's well balanced and powerful enough to take on the toughest wood.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by HanktheTank Great chainsaw and easy to start "if" you do it correctly
The Echo CS590 is a great chainsaw that is a real workhorse, probably too much for a typical suburban setting.
Now for the important part, how to start it. Pull the choke out, make sure the button behind the brake is in the down position. Pull the cord no more than (2) times. You should hear the motor rumble a little. Push the choke in completely and pull the cord a few times and it will start.
This thing is easy to flood, if you are not careful and it will drive you nuts.

I checked several brands of Chain Saws before deciding on Echo. After comparing apples to apples and watching videos using various chain saws I purchased an Echo CS-590 Timber Wolf with the 20" bar. I'm not new to using chain saws. I also own Stihl and Jonsered saws. The Echo CS-590 is replacing a Craftsman saw that recently "blew-up". My first impressions are very positive, excellent power to weight and well balanced saw. If I have anything that I would change it would be to shorten the choke switch which sticks out a bit. So far I am impressed and glad I bought Echo.

I actually was planning on buying a Husqvarna 455 Rancher but after researching reviews on different saws I was impressed with the Echo CS 590. It got great reviews and was actually cheaper than the Rancher. I purchased the Echo and I have never looked back. This is a great saw and better quality than the Husky. Starts great, idles great, and cuts like a demon. You won't regret buying this saw.
