Customer Questions & Answers

Why are people having trouble starting saw for the 1st time?

Asked by: plentyofwood
Echo's Quickstart instructions need to be improved ! Pull it more than twice with the choke on and it will be "flooded". On a cold start, push the compression release, set the chain brake, set the choke on, turn the run switch to on and pull the rope twice. Push the choke in and pull the rope as much as 3 times . . . usually starts on 2nd pull, Repeat sequence if not. The gas mix is critical . .. too much oil will foul the plug.

Can the saw be ordered with an 18" bar?

Asked by: fishonmomma
I don't know that it can be purchased with an 18 in bar, however you could switch it out easily. The saw is very compatible with Oregon products and the instruction manual makes reference to an 18 in bar at times.

Customer Reviews

20 in. 59.8cc Gas Chainsaw is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 493.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Its a Beast 35 years ago I bought a HOMELITE 360 PRO. This also was a beast, and I was very reluctant to replace it, but alas, parts no longer available. Bought the ECHO with skeptism, but after a couple uses I am very impresses. It is just as heavy as what I am used to, cuts just as well or maybe even better, and here is the kicker. I am just shy of 70 years ols, and it starts very easily for me. I cut with my youngest son often and we split a lot of wood also. Hope to enjoy it for at least 10 more years or untill heart attack, which ever comes first. LOL

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent value I had 2 large apple trees (26" bases) to remove from my yard and I needed an upgrade for my 25+ year old 18" craftsman saw. I first did a lot of shopping of the best 2 competitive brands, and then stumbled on forums that recommended Echo, so I took a look. The CS-590 was sized and featured similarly to the others, but about $100 less. On-line Reviews and you-tube videos were very positive, plus the 5 year warranty was very attractive. I bought it from a local dealer and never looked back. It performed excellent through the whole job and never failed to impress. Comfortable, balanced and easy to control. Great product design and features. I especially like the translucent fuel tank, the 20" bar, powerful 60cc engine and compression release for easy starting. A+ in my book!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Unbelievable power It took me about two years of research to finally decide on what chainsaw to purchase. I looked at all of the reviews, compared price to power ratio, and brand warranties. I couldn't be happier with my purchase. Ultimately this chainsaw has it all. Just try to compare similarly powered chainsaws to this price or manufacturer warranty and you will find nothing compares. If you are reading this review stop and make the purchase.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Just Ok I purchased this saw from recommendation of sale associate. I had walked in wish I g to purchase a Styil. I already own a 16 inch Styil easy start no problem. This saw was very hard to start had take it back in to get it started. When I have it running is ok and has power. But who wishes to have keep trying to start a saw

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good saw Have owned this saw for two months. I don't use it as much as I should, have only used around 8 tanks of fuel, as I use it as a low cost back up to my big husky. I am not sure what saws they are comparing it to, it is a good running saw with decent power, but seat of the pants tells me that it is not "more powerful " than competitors. They must be going on weight. My full time saw is almost two pounds lighter and is phenomenally more powerful. That said, the echo is not a tank. You can still swing it all day long, it has plenty of power with th twenty inch bar. It always starts with only a couple of pulls wether it has sat for two weeks or is on its third tank of fuel during a cutting frenzy. I have read the negative reviews. You should never buy a saw from a box store. A real dealer will set up your saw run it and tune it before you buy it. And if you have issues they will help you. One customer is just a drop in the ocean at box store. One customer is a big deal at a real saw shop. Just my two cents.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exceeded expectations Bought this saw Saturday before Memorial Day at local Home Depot. Was a return with nothing wrong so score for me. Evening of Memorial Day we had a strong storm come out of nowhere and blew trees down all over town, We had no trees down but our neighbor did and called me over to cut it up and put it on the street. This was my first time using the saw, and I was very impressed with the performance. Wasn't too heavy or too much to handle, cut through the tree like butter. Very pleased with my purchase, always happy with echo products. If you are thinking about getting one, or need to get one, go get a timberwolf, you won't be disappointed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very strong and powerful saw I researched this saw for some time before purchasing it. This was a top rated saw with the Stihl and Husqvarna. I purchased it from a local dealer. It starts very easily even without the decompression valve. This saw replaced my old reliable Echo CS-5000. I have put about five hours on the saw. The throttle response is instant. The saw has plenty of power and cuts right through green and dry hardwoods. This saw has been everything I've expected out of an Echo brand chainsaw and more. It sips on fuel and oil. The 20 inch bar is a perfect fit for this large motor. The five year warranty sets this saw and brand ahead of the competition.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to start, Good power, Easy to maintain. I bought this saw about a year ago. Since then it's cut close to 15 cords worth of wood with no problem. Recently my brother bought a MS311 which is Stihls farm saw and the Echo has beat it every single time the Stihl is harder to start and though it does cut good the Echo has a much smoother band of power allowing it to cut through with less work making what would normally be a 2 hour job might take an hour with the Echo with the stock chain I cut through a 42 inch dead oak twice as fast as the stihl side by side it makes it just too easy so if you're looking for a saw that out performs all others get an Echo CS-590
