Customer Questions & Answers

Why are people having trouble starting saw for the 1st time?

Asked by: plentyofwood
Echo's Quickstart instructions need to be improved ! Pull it more than twice with the choke on and it will be "flooded". On a cold start, push the compression release, set the chain brake, set the choke on, turn the run switch to on and pull the rope twice. Push the choke in and pull the rope as much as 3 times . . . usually starts on 2nd pull, Repeat sequence if not. The gas mix is critical . .. too much oil will foul the plug.

Can the saw be ordered with an 18" bar?

Asked by: fishonmomma
I don't know that it can be purchased with an 18 in bar, however you could switch it out easily. The saw is very compatible with Oregon products and the instruction manual makes reference to an 18 in bar at times.

Customer Reviews

20 in. 59.8cc Gas Chainsaw is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 525.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good saw Have owned this saw for two months. I don't use it as much as I should, have only used around 8 tanks of fuel, as I use it as a low cost back up to my big husky. I am not sure what saws they are comparing it to, it is a good running saw with decent power, but seat of the pants tells me that it is not "more powerful " than competitors. They must be going on weight. My full time saw is almost two pounds lighter and is phenomenally more powerful. That said, the echo is not a tank. You can still swing it all day long, it has plenty of power with th twenty inch bar. It always starts with only a couple of pulls wether it has sat for two weeks or is on its third tank of fuel during a cutting frenzy. I have read the negative reviews. You should never buy a saw from a box store. A real dealer will set up your saw run it and tune it before you buy it. And if you have issues they will help you. One customer is just a drop in the ocean at box store. One customer is a big deal at a real saw shop. Just my two cents.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very strong and powerful saw I researched this saw for some time before purchasing it. This was a top rated saw with the Stihl and Husqvarna. I purchased it from a local dealer. It starts very easily even without the decompression valve. This saw replaced my old reliable Echo CS-5000. I have put about five hours on the saw. The throttle response is instant. The saw has plenty of power and cuts right through green and dry hardwoods. This saw has been everything I've expected out of an Echo brand chainsaw and more. It sips on fuel and oil. The 20 inch bar is a perfect fit for this large motor. The five year warranty sets this saw and brand ahead of the competition.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great saw I bought the CS 590 Timber Wolf about a month ago and finally got to use it this weekend. I had a oak stump, approximately 28" thick, that has been dead for several years and was seasoned to say the least. The saw had a 24" bar and chain and cut through the stump without any problem. Lots of power and well balanced. I have seen some reviews that said the saw was hard to start however mine started with no problems, 2-3 pulls, as I followed the instructions on the saw. Very satisfied with the saw. I have been cutting firewood for over 40 years and owned several Stihl's and feel the Echo performed as well as the Stihl's I have owned.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to start, Good power, Easy to maintain. I bought this saw about a year ago. Since then it's cut close to 15 cords worth of wood with no problem. Recently my brother bought a MS311 which is Stihls farm saw and the Echo has beat it every single time the Stihl is harder to start and though it does cut good the Echo has a much smoother band of power allowing it to cut through with less work making what would normally be a 2 hour job might take an hour with the Echo with the stock chain I cut through a 42 inch dead oak twice as fast as the stihl side by side it makes it just too easy so if you're looking for a saw that out performs all others get an Echo CS-590

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great chainsaw Bought it about 5 weeks ago. Let the chain get loose and ran it into some rocks while bucking a log. Replaced the existing chain with a hardwood cutting chain which was recommended by my local hardware store. I'm keeping the chain snug, and the saw really eats up oak as well as soft pine. Starts very easily when cold; just follow the instruction card. When warm--which means that you ran it since yesterday--pull a few times with choke in and run switch up and you're running again. Great tool. It's my first pick when slash or thick brush beckons.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Starter I recently bought a cs-590 and I love it. I registered the warrenty as a home owner for now but am in the process of starting a tree service. I was so impressed with the saw that I turned around and bought a used cs-303T. I love it as well. My plan with the tree service is to help out Military Veterans with or in need of Prosthetics. I Have registered the name A Limb for A Limb. I am gathering/buying equiptment as I can afford it. Literally starting from the ground up. Hope to eventually give employment to Military Vets with Prosthetics. I want to keep things uniform as I grow and plan on running with your saws exclusively. Thank You Justin V.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from CS-590 is a tree cutting dream machine No shortage of raw cutting power. This machine cut through my huge maple tree like a hot knife through butter. The Timberwolf dug right in and chewed right through the 22" diameter trunk. Here is a small sample of the tree. do not listen to those posts that indicate that the Echo CS-590 isn't a good performing machine. This machine will clearly take down big trees. Keep the chain sharp, perform the required maintenance and you will have this machine for many years to come. Thank you Echo for making one powerful chainsaw! Worth every penny.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from powerful but heavy I left my 450 Rancher out in the woods and it was stolen. I loved it, but had to replace it. I chose the ECHO because the Husqvarna bogged down on bigger Oaks. The 60 cc ECHO definitely has more power, but it is quite heavy. Too heavy for safe limbing. The 50 cc Husqvarna was a better overall saw for bucking and then limbing. the ECHO 60 cc is great for felling and bucking, but I have to use my Wife's 35 cc Stihl for limbing. I did like that the price of this saw. An equivalent Husqvarna would be over $100 more.
