Customer Questions & Answers

Is there a horsepower rating for the 620p and 680 saw? I am trying to decide between the two because i would like to use the 27" bar.

Asked by: Sawman
620p is 4.6 h.p. You can find this info if you enter shindaiwa chainsaws on you web. Both the sx600 shindaiwa and the echo 620p are the same. Yamabiko corp. I am planning on purchasing one of these saws real soon. The best on earth right now and have always been! 30 yrs as a mechanic. Good luck! Choose the 620p.

Whats the difference between this saw and the CS-600P?

I was looking at the CS-600p and seen this one for almost $100 more. I couldn't really see a difference between the two.
Asked by: Will
The CS-620P has 13% more power than the CS-600P. The CS-620 also features a sprocket guard made of magnesium material vs. plastic which is used on the CS-600P.

What are the differences between this "professional" saw and the 680-24 which has a bigger displacement and chain?

I need a 24 inch saw but need something that will last for many years. I will never buy another Husky again. I already had to replace a scored piston on that one.
Asked by: pakerfan
The 620P has professional bar and chain which does not have the safety kick back feature. It also has bigger bar and chain options. The sprocket guard is also made of magnesium. The CS-680 has an improved piston design.

20 in. 59.8cc High Power Professional Gas Chainsaw is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 14.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Hands down the best saw for your money! I've never thought of Echo as a "pro" product, however after checking around and spending some time on the web I found I was wrong. I do quite a bit of logging and I own a Husky as well as a Stihl and the Echo is hands down a much better saw! I can honestly say I'll never own another brand of saw.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from never going back I have owned other two other major brands of chainsaws and an echo srm 230 trimmer so I chose to try the cs620p absolutely no regrets! Well built and plenty of power. My trimmer is going on 10 yrs old and runs like a champ I will stick with echo from here on out.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sixth CS-620P. This is our sixth CS-620P in two years. Replaced the Stihl 362CM. More power, better mileage than Stihl. And not as expensive.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great saw! Excellent preformer! I got my CS 620P last year, great saw, excellent power to weight ratio the best I've ever used in forty plus years. Easy start-up, I own other professional (3)saws from other manufactures, which are good saws, but I love my two Echo more! I've used/own other Echo products: Blower and hedge trimmers all preform excellent!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Saw I have a thirty year old sthil pro saw that has been a dang good saw. I decided to get a saw capable of handling a longer bar. I looked at the Sthils, Huskys, and Echos. I decided that the 620 P had features more comparable to the others pro saws and was priced much better. The sthil and husky farm/homeowner saws looked cheaply made. You won't find a saw with features like magnesium crankcase, sprocket cover, and aluminum handles in the price range of the 620. My concern was that a 59cc saw would struggle with a 24" bar. Our local dealer had an open house where customers could try the saws. I was highly impressed with the power to weight ratio of the 620. You could tell a big difference in it and the timber wolf and a comparable sized Sthil they had. I purchased the saw and I have been very happy with it so far. It can rip through white oak and post oak no problem with the 24" bar. So far it has been easy to crank and reliable. I'm sure you can find saws as good in its class but you will pay alot more for them. Hopefully this one will last 30 years too.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Runs like a striped ape! I live in the country on a chunk of wooded acreage. The old-growth trees that are compromising my house and outbuildings or are otherwise turning unhealthy feed my wood furnace. I have had a Stihl pro/commercial grade saw with a 28" bar that I have been felling and bucking with all this time. This late summer/early fall I began to get started on firewood for the coming winger as it looks to be another cold one in the Midwest. Long story short, the Stihl went down and was going to need lengthy and expensive repair at the busiest time of year for my Stihl dealer. So after I left it at the shop I stopped by my Echo dealer and decided to give this less expensive saw a try as a band-aid until my Stihl was up and running, thinking I'd get rid of the Echo later. Not only am I happy with this saw, running a 27" bar on walnuts, white oaks, ash, and elm, I sold my Stihl to the dealer for parts and have ordered a CS- 620w to go along with it so I always have a second. I got two for the price of one Stihl, and the Echo shop has unbeatable customer service. The CS - 620P has been through a lot of wood in the last month and a half and is going strong. They are built tough and run quiet with less vibration. Blow out the air filter every other tree, keep it full of bar & chain oil, good Ethanol Free fuel mix, and sharpened chains and you won't be let down. It changed a loyal Stihl owner. I hope for many pleasing felling and bucking seasons to come with these saws. It has even turned a few heads with my good friends and neighbors who I help with firewood who own Husky, Jonsered, and Stihl. If they get the same service I received they won't be hard to convert.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Value and Quality While I might not be a commercial contractor, I use this saw weekly maintaining my properties and cutting firewood. I run both a 24" bar and a 16" bar depending on what I'm working on. I quite regularly cut locust, hackberry, oak and ash trees. I haven't come across a job it couldn't tackle. The only negative things I would note about the saw is that it seems to be a bit thirsty, but my experience with saws this size over a long term is limited and that the factory bar nuts would come loose regularly. I switched out the bar nut to flange nuts and haven't had a problem since. I replaced my 8 year old Husqvarna with this saw and couldn't be happier with it's performance. It's also backed by the best warranty and my local dealer is fantastic. Some day soon I hope to pick up a second one.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Echo CS-620 is outstanding I've owned Stihl, Husqvarna, Makita/Dolmar all good saws! I was looking for a medium size saw in the 60cc range, the Echo CS-600P seem to fit the bill with the best value and performance. I then came across the Echo CS-620P, which is an improve version of 60cc/ CS-600 that Echo's claim puts out an extra 13% more power (I believe they're conservative). This saw is incredible! The performance of a 70cc professional saw in a nice smaller package! This is a nice sounding saw and very comfortable to operate. The CS-600P is great saw but the extra money for the CS-620 gives you get even more! durability and features like magnesium housing, full chisel chain, plus additional power etc. are worth the extra $ As for cutting its a real killer, an angry saw with attitude! plenty of power, nice high rpms, it cuts through a 70 ft oak like a hot knife through a soft butter stick! One of the best saws I've ever handle!
