Whte type of hedge material will it cut - i.e. Port Orford cedar?

I have used "regular" hand-held hedge pruners in the past on a Port Orford cedar hedge but found that the wispy branches will not cut as they are not stiff like privet or laurel hedges and will just be whipped back and forth or shredded. Will this product cut this type of material easily or at all? If not could you recommend another product that might handle this job? Thanks!

It should cut the cedar with no issue. As we prune various cedars specimens with ours. Privet and laurel are some shrubs we frequently prune and this does it with no problem. I find yew and wisteria very tricky to cut/prune and these will go through that as well with no problem. As with any tool-keeping the tolerance between blades in check as well as keeping blades sharp is very critical.

I check my blades and grease our gear housing frequently-this unit will have two grease fittings. Careful attention has to be placed on the blades as they will easily cut you. Im sure you will find this tool capable of doing your task.

Answer:
I would not recommend trying this. Rusted blades or water in the gearbox will ruin the tool.

Answer:
ECHO currently does not have a unit or attachment that can be used under water. ECHO would recommend to operate any unit under water as it may cause damage to the product.

Rated 4.4 out of 5 by 28 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Just what I needed to trim 6-8 ft. tall trees and bushes without using a ladder. Ability to angle the blade makes it easy to cut across the top of the tree. October 25, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Not just for Hedges This trimmer works effortlessly. It had no problem cutting down tall weeds around a pond. Tall hedges would be a breeze for this cutter. The only draw back is this machine is a little heavier than a normal weed eater, so you definately need to use thte strap that is included to help hold the weight and better control the cutter. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent product. Easy to assemble from the box. Functioned flawlessly. Another excellent performing product from Echo!!! August 30, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by echo hca 266 I never had a chance to use the tool. When it was shipped from home depot.com it was in poor condition. The box was torn and broken open. The tool was damaged and pieces laying loose in box. It has to be partially assembled. Echo tools are OK and we use a lot of the product line from Echo. They are making tools cheaper and cheaper-skimping on plastics etc.. This is common with all manufacturers. I took the tool back to a home depot store and they easily returned the item. I will reorder later but disappointed in this delivery. It may not have been home depot-maybe ups. I will say when I saw the box it made me think of Jim Carrey and the movie pet detective. This was when he dressed up as a package delivery person and was kicking and throwing a small box down the side walk. Hope future deliveries are better. August 11, 2016

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Garden Was a great purchase and my recommendation will be around May 3, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Powerful and balanced. Great trimmer. Our yardman doubled his price on hedging services so I bit the bullet and decided to try it on my own. Figured between my sons and I we could handle the job. Tried an electric handheld trimmer and realized pretty quickly 200 feet of 8 foot hedge would take forever. Did a bit of research and decided upon the Echo. Never looked back. Its a wonderful beast of a machine. Powerful, tough and still balanced and user friendly. Its not easy to tackle 200 feet of hedge, its hard on the back and shoulders, and your arms feel like mush with the vibrations and odd angles of work, but its certainly easier with the echo. If your hedges are high, don't skimp, buy the one with the articulating blade,. Your back will thank you. October 27, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Just What I needed I use this to trim around a large pond where the tractor mower doesn't reach. It is excellent for this job, much faster than a string trimmer. Like all my Echo products it starts easy every time. It is powerful enough to handle grass weeds and brush. October 20, 2015
