Answer:
This mower will pick up dry leaves if the mulching plug is removed and the grass bag is connected to the mower. Keep in mind, the leaves will be cut into smaller pieces when they come into contact with the mower blade, prior to entering the grass bag.

Answer:
With mulch kit attached, when you run the mower on top of the leaves, it will chop them and most of the leaves will end up in the collection bag. It will not pick them all in a vacuum fashion though.

I have thick St Augustine grass and cuts fine in morning dew / mist. Would not want to cut after a hard rain and would wait to dry out if grass is very wet

Thank you, Amy. Please keep in mind that wet grass puts more of a work load on this mower. We do not recommend using this mower for wet grass.

Answer:
Thank you, Bill. From a fully dead battery to a fully charged battery, it should take anywhere between an hour and a hour and a half to charge. Please note that the run times of our batteries are based on work loads. We have to way of measuring the exact run time since it would depend on what kind of grass you have, how thick it is, how tall it is, and even if it is wet or dry.

The question was not very clear.
The battery was supposed to be charged overnight at the first time.
After the first full charge, the battery should have worked at least 40 minutes

I usually can time my mowing to about twenty minutes and I still have enough juice to use the leaf blower. But my grass is not too thick at all, and I never let it grow fully out of control. If you have thicker grass, or will be mowing for more than twenty minutes, you might need that extra battery to pull you through your job. I hope this helps. I love how quiet and light weight this mower is; just takes a little learning curve to get use to one that runs on batteries.
Good luck. Please give this mower a little time; you will love it in the long run.
Sincerely,
M.C.

Thank you, TheWalkingMan. It should definitely cut Bermuda lawns. This is one of the most powerful battery operated mowers available. Please keep in mind that if it gets up to about 8" or above, you may encounter some resistance.

Works find on mine. We just had a month of rain and my Bermuda was about a foot tall by the time it dried out enough to mow. Just keep your blade sharp. Also. My personal preference is to not cut the grass short. My mower is set on nearly the highest cutting setting.

Customer Reviews

Rated 4.5 out of 5 by 233 reviewers.
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by This mower is so quiet it should be a crime. My only complaint is the mower is not strong enough to pick up kindling or other random items in the lawn. It mows the grass perfectly, is quiet, does not pollute like a gas mower. It met me needs in all areas except the twigs, leaves, and other small debris it does not pick up well. Purchase the 2nd battery, you will need it if you have a decent size yard. The 5 year warranty makes the battery purchase worth it. NO ONE warranties a battery 5 years, this makes the product really standout. Just make sure you register your product on Echo's site. Also, the mower comes set up in the Mulch mode, make sure you pull out the Mulcher device if you want to bag right off the bat. Wheel height adjustment is very easy to adjustment unlike most mowers on the market. October 25, 2016
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by internal electrical problem I have purchased the trimer, blower, and the mower. First of all I really like the trimmer and blower. I had problems with mower right out of the box, the mower would keep shutting off. I managed to get my yard mowed but mower shut itself off multiple times. The problem seems to be the switch that is attached to the handle bar, every time you move or wiggle the right red lever, the moter stops and you have to restart in order to continue mowing. After two calls to Echo customer service, they suggested that I take the mower to an Echo repair facilities where it would take up to 5 weeks for repair. Since I had only owned the mower for less than 2 days, I returned it Home Depot for a refund. I am trying to decide whether or not I will repurchase another mower. October 20, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great mower The light weight and large wheels make this mower really easy to push. The hills in my front yard are easy to maneuver, even compared to my previous self-propelled gas push mower. I really like how easy it is to turn the mower back on after I turn it off to pick up sticks in the yard. Also the folding/locking handle bar and the handle behind the engine make this mower easy to move around my small shed. June 19, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Downsizing Choices - this is a must! Traded in the JDeere and one-acre for 1/4-acre and this Echo model. One battery charge lasts 1-1/2 mowings. Light weight housing is plastic and the mulching does not create any undercarriage accumulation. This means the clean up is efficient. Couple this with the collapsible handle feature and the ability to stand it vertically means little garage floor space is used. Each wheel requires the height setting which is the only downside I can find. Think of a loud fan as the noise level. Subscribe to the email feed and wait for the seasonal specials. Other Echo lawn care products use this same battery so I can envision myself chunking the gas trimmer as well. September 20, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Acceptable The mower bogs down easily in southern lawns. Our St Augustine grass is thick and does not mulch well. The side discharge attachment is a special order and I had hoped that it would be included. I have not tried bagging the clippings. In heavy grass clumps gather at the ends of the blades and stop them against the side of the deck. The unit is light and the deck is made out of plastic which should outlast any stamped steel deck that our previous gas mowers have had. It is very quiet. The battery lasts about 45 minutes with about an hour's time for charging. October 11, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great mower I first bought the 16' Ryobi mower, but when I got it out of the box it was comical how small the bag was and how narrow the cutting width was. It looked like my kid's toy mower. I knew at that time that I couldn't go as cheap as I'd like and had to upgrade. I ended up getting this mower, which looked like a normal mower, but was way lighter. I have a 8800 sqft yard, and was able to cut it all on one battery charge. Checked at the end and there was one bar (out of 4) left for power. It was no problem pushing the mower due to how light it was, and it maneuvered fine, too. Also, the mower is easy to start up and fairly quiet. Nothing bad to say about this mower, I'd highly recommend it if you don't mind spending a bit more! October 3, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Better than Expected I bought this mower for my daughter and her new house. I ran it through the paces on our yard to make sure it worked ok while waiting for her to close. Sit on a just under 1/4 acre lot with Bermuda grass in front and St Augustine in the back. Battery went through about 3/4 of charge to complete. Back yard is really thick and mower never bogged down. Front is a lot of cutting and mower did shut down multiple times but after a few seconds of pause it would start right back up. Liked the light weight so my daughter shouldn't have any issues pushing it around. One drawback in that respect is there doesn't seem to be enough weight over the front wheels so mower doesn't cut well when pulling back on lightly rough terrain. The front wheels bounce quite a bit and leave the grass uneven. So far that is the only real drawback. October 16, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Best mower!! This is the best mower I have owned. Powerful enough to cut heavy grass. Lighter and easier to push than gas mowers. Added benefit is that when done it can be turned on its side to rinse off without worrying about gas leaking. No spark plugs to change. No gas and oil to worry about. Now for the clincher. I had an issue with the charger. Called Echo and was immediately talking to a girl in South Carolina headquarters. Issue was immediately resolved to my complete satisfaction. Great customer service is as important as great product quality and Echo has both. October 7, 2016
