Can I use other brand attachments with this power head?

No, they will not fit. Pretty much all brands have a different design attachment to prevent you from intermixing. Bad for you, good for them.

This is my power head for my power pruner and articulating hedge trimmer. This will serve as my back up trimmer and stick edger when I purchase the said attachments in the future. I choose this because it is lighter than other power heads and has commercial features. I had this for 3 yrs. now and doing great. Echo all day long!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Useful tool around the yeard We were on the market for a bunch of power tools for our newly purchased home, and a trimmer is a must have. We decided to go for a medium power and that you pay a good upgrade price for it. I read many reviews, googled, asked friends and Echo won on every category. It's easy to use, starts easily, it's light weight and the best about buying a power head is that you can add attachments for different uses. We purchased an edger and a trimmer. Was going to buy the blower but decided to have as a second piece in case I have help gardening. I'm very satisfied with my choice so far. Will update this review if anything happens.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Tool! I bought this product around 3 months ago and have used it maybe 15 times thus far. Changing the attachments is simple and takes about 10 seconds. I have three attachments at this point. I have the edger, the quick load trimmer attachment and the brush cutter attachment. The edger works great, the rapid loader works great and I've used the brush cutter only once. The edger makes a clean line along curbs and driveways. I've found that if I follow the edger for one pass and then drag it backwards for a second, quicker pass, it leaves a much cleaner line and throws the cut soil out of the cut. The edger is the heaviest of the three attachments I own. It can get a bit heavy with this attachment, so getting the sling will be helpful and will be my next accessory purchase. The rapid loader string attachment with the heavy (.095) line works great for grass and around shrubs. We have a flagstone patio with sharp stone that tends to cut the line relatively often but I found that if I run the trimmer at lower speeds and am a bit more careful, I can get a lot more time out of the line before it needs to be replaced. I have roughly 20K sf of lawn to trim and I can do it with 4 line changes. Sometimes the line gets a bit wedged, but I've yet to have to get a pair of pliers to pull the line free from the rapid loader head. Pushing from the outside and pulling from the inside simultaneously tends to do the trick for the most stubbornly wedged trim line. As stated, I've used the brush cutter only once. The only drawback I found is that brush that tends to hang over well outside the radius of the trunk of what you are cutting makes the job more difficult as you can't see what you are cutting. You almost have to trim the brush back and then cut the base with the brush cutter. I was able to prune tree limbs overhead as well. The brush cutter cut through 1" limbs and brush with ease. You'll want to focus your cuts on the left side of the blade or it has a tendancy to 'jump' to the right as it may roll around what you are cutting. Overall, I'm quite satisfied with the product. I elected to get the 230 in lieu of the 225 for the increased power and it hasn't let me down thus far. The final drawback of the system is that it is a bit expensive to load up with attachments. Thus far, I'd say I've invested nearly $600 between the power head and the three attachments I own.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works great for any homeowner. As owner of a residential lawn care and landscaping company, I have used several different types of equipment. I was skeptical about any system that has attachments yet still claims commercial quality and durability. I can tell you that I saved myself around 250.00 by buying the ECHO PAS with trimmer and edger attachments, versus buying each piece of equipment separately. I have noticed the motor bogging down a bit when edging along street curbs, but it has been everything I could need otherwise.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Thank you ECHO for making this product! All I can say is Thank You Echo! I had purchased a gas powered attachment from a different brand, and spent quite a bit of money, only to get frustrated at the fact that it was not only difficult to start, but it would cut off shortly after starting. I owned an ECHO trimmer and loved it! When I saw that ECHO had power attachments I was thrilled! I love the idea of just makes sense. I purchased the 22.8cc power attachment and the pruner attachment. It's on the heavy side, but the power and performance is outstanding! Love this purchase!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lightweight, powerful, durable, Reliable. .. As I stated in another review on the PB255LN. ...All my OPE is Echo. And for good reason! Purchased the PAS 230 a few months ago and couldn't be happier with my choice. Almost opted for the 266 but in reality, This machine has more than enough power to handle All attachments with ease... Being lightweight, it is easier to use on a day to day basis and IMO it's the best balanced powerhead out of the lineup...Although this machine is used only at my residence, as a commercial landscaper I have used many tools and almost every Make and model and the company I work with uses mostly ECHO OPE also....And in comparison, Echo is notorious for quality built, Reliable equipment. And has been proven time and time again...most of the equipment is running strong after 10 years. The PAS230 has plenty of power, is extremely well balanced with attachments, Starts 1st or 2nd pull even when sitting for a week and The updated rubber over mold grip and trigger made the machine 100 % more comfortable to handle. Another quality piece of equipment ECHO, Well done.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very Happy I purchased this unit approximately 14 months ago, after moving into my first single family home. I enjoy using this system for all of my yard work. I have several of the attachments, which cover a wide variety of uses and are easy to install and remove for storage. The only issue I had with the power source related to the air filter becoming saturated with fuel (air filter housing seems to be connected to carburetor). It only happened once and I'm not sure why, but the unit would not start until I removed the saturated filter. It started fine without the filter, so I set it aside to air out. No problems since. Love using this system!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Never runs right Bought this for the PAS system. Easy to swap attachments and attachments work good. Unfortunately you never know if its going to run or not. One day it runs perfect. Next day it will idle but die if you touch the throttle. Wait a day and it fires up and runs perfect. Using echo 2stroke oil, Shell regular gas. Replaced spark plug & filter. No help. Once it is hot and I shut it off. Forget about getting it to run. Any ideas on this issue, let me know. Very frustrating.
