I purchased this plus the pruner and chain saw attachments for my large new tree covered yard. It has so far worked great. It is a little awkward to start with the attachments on (it is just very long), but it starts easy, has good power, and does a great job of trimming. Simple operation, seems strong and rigid. Very happy with the product.

My wife is very hard on our farm tools, however this machine is holding up even under her use. I am very pleased with it.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by BB1 PAS attachments only fit PAS powerheads
The only reason I didn't give five stars is only Echo PAS attachments work with PAS powerheads. I wanted a fixed line PAS trimmer that has been discontinued and other brand attachments don't fit.

A Little heavier than my little toro that I had forever but I'm doing more trimming and wanted more power.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Grassdog Did not start and I returned
Was excited to purchase this. Product arrived damaged. The knob that tightened the attachment coupler was bent. Called Echo, said they could not help and to call HD. Called HD and received replacement part a few days later. First few uses had difficulty starting. Believe it was flooding every time. Went throught every de-flooding procedure known to man. Could get it started eventually but was a 10 minute process every time. 4th or 5th time (and final time) I went to use it could not get it to start at all. Called Echo and was once again dissapponted by their customer support. The person on the other end of the phone seemed very inexperienced and sounded like he'd never even used a trimmer. After five minutes of him figuring out how to look up the de-flooding procedure his "insightful" solution was to push the purge bulb a few times and then pull the cord. Gee, why didn't I think of that? Guess what, it still did not start! Returned it immediately and to Home Depot's credit they did accept the return with little hassle.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by WLGef Works as advertised - which is saying a lot
Glad I spent the extra money for the Echo PAS power head. Very easy to start (if you follow the instructions), great power, easy to handle. I purchased it with the brush cutter attachment (blackberry and Scotch broom eradication) and felt it's perfect for the job. I also just purchased the high torque string attachment but haven't used it yet, but if it performs as well as the rest, it should be great. Definitely recommend Echo products, seem to be really well made and they provide a good, readable, understandable instruction manual.

Best thing since, sliced bread! Just makes it a lot easier to just have one power source to fill with gas and maintain. My garage has more room too. Plenty of power for all the attachments, no matter what job you are doing.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Superduper Good power but not easy to start
Not sure about durability yet since I haven't owned this that long but it is fairly lightweight which is a plus, especially if you use it a lot. Fuel tank is not that large and I found myself refueling more frequently than I'd like, which is a pain since you need to stop work to refuel and hope you don't spill gas on your hands in the process. Past reviews said you needed to buy some kind of setup to attach a shoulder strap but not the one I got. There is a ring that you just snap the strap to and maybe echo added that in later models in response to complaints? Power is excellent as this head has more power than a craftsman 40+ cc 4-stroke unit I have which is impressive since the craftsman motor is over 50% larger displacement. I never did observe any bogging down using trimmer head or hedge trimmer attachments. However if there is one beef, it is that this head is difficult to do cold starts. Not sure if it has to do with oil in fuel suppressing combustibility compared to straight gas in the 4-stroke motors but the 4-strokes start up almost always on first pull. This guy takes a bit of work to get started but once it does, it works fine and easy to restart. And when I say cold start, I'm not talking a cold January morning. I'm talking 70 degree weather and if the engine hasn't been used in a day or so. Or as new out of the box. I have seen reviews regarding these being difficult to start, or easy to start. All I can say is that I suspect that it varies depending upon the actual example in use and yes, I know how to start these things having operated 2 and 4 stroke motors for over 35 years (and an ex-mechanic).
