Hi, this unit is 13.3 pounds, there is very little assembly required.. the shield and top handle and possibly attaching the lower and upper shaft together. To start the trimmer you simply press the trigger after the battery is inserted.

Hi clueless,
Thanks for visiting our site!
This Echo 58-volt String Trimmer weighs 13.3 lbs. That compares to the Echo SRM-225 gas trimmer that weighs 12.1 lbs. without fuel.
No assembly is needed for this model, simply snap the two halves together in the middle of the shaft.

A 4 amp hour (Ah) battery will provide extended run time over the 2 Ah battery that this unit comes with.

Rated 4.6 out of 5 by 35 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great for Saving Time and Energy Wow, what power with the 58 volt battery. With the bump and feed head it is easy to extend new line, and reload is also simple. Best, is no gasoline fill-up and no loud noise. June 24, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent, dependable, and strong Excellent, dependable, strong, no fumes, no mixing gas/oil, press the button and GO! It's easy to use. I am a 62 year old woman that manages the weeds on my parents 10 acres. Commercial grade gas trimmers are temperamental, stall, hard to start, hard on the back and shoulder. Restringing this trimmer is a hands-down BREEZE. Battery takes about 40 minutes to recharge, and lasts a long time. Long enough for me to want a break, drink water, wash the muck off my face and arms as it recharges. It does an awful lot on one charge, no complaints here. This trimmer is very well balanced, and starts every time with a push of a button. You can control the "power" with a "turtle" or a "rabbit" speed/power setting, but I hardly found I needed this unless whacking through some small shrubbery. The variable button pretty much did a great job for all my needs which included cutting down some thick stocky weeds. I found it to be "safe" using some common sense. I found a few things that I would highly recommend: Always wear eye protection and a long sleeve shirt or gloves would be good. A fox tail impaled my arm, and rocks do fly (it is powerful!), A simple shoulder strap to ease the pressure on your back with long term use (they are cheap/under $10). Invest in thicker heavy-duty string, you will save on restringing as well as the "heavy-duty" string cuts through most things like butter, you save on effort/time/energy. May 3, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Never go Back to ANY GAS trimmer again I worked for sometime at a DOE site as a subcontractor running a Gas trimmer for eight hours a day. I was not interested n a trimmer that did not meet my expectations for power and performance and was not at all impressed with other electric trimmers, lack of power, operation time, and capabilities. My wife wanted me to get an electric because she did not want to smell the gas. I actually went into to buy an Echo Gas trimmer and saw this electric. I was impressed right away with it's construction, battery capacity, and the attachments that were available for it. The coupler that attaches the various heads was the best and sturdiest I have ever seen. I took it home charged the battery (1 hour ) edged my house, 1/2 acre back yard and other areas around the property. The battery still has at least half the charge it had when I started using it and it sliced thru some very tough thick weeds and grass. Echo is now and will always be my trimmer of choice. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent Trimmer My brother purchased one first. I was impressed and went out and got my own. It has all the power you could ever want and I get about 30-45 minutes of heavy use on one battery. I have ran a blade on it and it does a great job. Today I cleared about 1/2 acre of grass and mesquite with 1 battery using the blade. Everyone who has used it at work is planning on buying one. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by awesome trimmer!!!! I bought this cordless trimmer about a year ago, I chose it due to my previous experience with echo products. I must say I have been amazed at how much power this unit has. I trim three different yards weekly ranging from a half acre to two acres and still have half a battery left. This is a GREAT product!! Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Better than expected I bought this because I'm tired of trying to start my 4 stroke Troy Built. Performance is very comparable to that of a dual string gas, and being able to answer questions from my wife, without having to shut of the engine(who only seems to ask questions when I rev any machine) was a unexpected joy. I did 3 lawns that day to see how long the battery would last, I had 2 bars after I worked the machine for an hour. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] August 10, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent! Not missing the gas trimmer at all! I've had Echo gas trimmers for 15 years. When my last one started to act up, I decided to make the jump to this one. I love it. Personally, I run it on High Speed (the "rabbit" setting), with with larger core line, so that it cuts through equally as powerfully as the gas ones did (otherwise, it hopped around a bit on the little string, and it wasn't beefy enough on the "turtle" setting). It's a shade heavier b/c of the battery, but, I'm okay with that for how well it works, and how long it lasts. I trim and edge with it, and it takes me about 15 minutes to do my yard. I can do that 4 times over on a single charge. Now I'm just about ready to replace my gas mower with Echo's electric.... soon! September 12, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Exactly What I Wanted This fit my needs perfectly. Has about the same power at my older, curved shaft GT-200R but with none of the inherent problems that go along with gas motors. I also have the lawn mower and I so far love this line of tools!
