Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by FLRetiree Good quality and performance
I purchased this edger, took it home, and put it to work immediately on a major edging job. The sidewalk by my house was seriously overgrown from months of neglect. It was St. Augustine grass, some of the toughest grass to cut. But the edger did a great job of cutting through it and, after cleanup, the sidewalk looks great. It took about 45 minutes of high torque running of the engine, but it never faltered or stumbled. I'm looking forward to being able to maintain the edge of the sidewalk for many years with this edger.

Works well as long as you are not cutting thru semi heavy grass areas

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by TexasAggie9 Good power, but frustrating
Have only used about 10 time. It has good power and starts easy. My complaint about it is that as you are using it the handle will slide around the shaft. It slows you down having to constantly adjust it. I have tried tighten the bolts more and they are tight as can be. Other than that it gets the job done

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by ThumbsUp Underpowered Toy
This is an underpowered toy. Echo made their name by selling commercial grade equipment to professionals who must rely on them all day long. However, they must have sold out to the big box boys and created a "price point" piece to satisfy the masses. This edger lacks heft and power to cut thru grass. It just bogged down and bounced on the grass I was trying to cut. After attempting just 20 feet of driveway, I gave up and returned it to the store.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by er0924 Disappointed--should have listened to the previous reviews
I purchased this ECHO edger after my 6 year old (also ECHO) edger died. I usually conduct extensive research, and did compare this ECHO to the more expensive model (NOT sold at my local Home Depot--WTH?) and also the Stihl. My edger just failed to start one day, and I didn't have time to order one and my local Stihl dealer wasn't open (Brunswick, GA) A lot of the reviews I read said that this edger was slightly underpowered.
When I went to my local HD store, the salesman in the department assured me that the reviews were wrong, so I purchased it.
My first issue was that when I got it home, it would start! I probably pulled on the cord 100-120 times over the next two hours. I've operated and maintained lawn equipment for 35+ years, and I've NEVER had something just not start.
I returned it to my local HD store, where at first they refused to accept the edger, because it had been a little more than a week since I purchased it. I had my receipt and advised the desk person that it wouldn't start and that I wanted to replace it. At first I was told that I would have to take it to their designated repair facility. For a brand new edger! I advised her that that was a non-starter, and that I wanted a new one or my money back. She finally relented, and I got the last one in stock.
I brought it home, where it started in 8 pulls (new motor, no problem).
As soon as I got it warmed up per directions, I started edging my yard---highly displeased--it was under powered for my St. Aug yard in southern GA. I would return it tomorrow if I could get my money back and buy the next model up (+100.00) or just buy a Stihl..
What happened to ECHO quality?? Its not in this edger.
NOT a happy customer...

The edger starts easily. It's not too heavy so it's easy to handle and you can zip right through in a short amount of time and it does a great job.
