Customer Questions & Answers

is the level of the blade adjustible on the model PE 225?

Asked by: Anonymous
You can only adjust the cutting depth. Its done by loosening a knob and moving the wheel up or down and then tightening the knob.

WHAT SIZE BLADE DOES IT HAVE. IS THERE A BIG DIFFERENCE BETWEN A 4" & 8" BLADE

ALSO DOES IT HAVE ENOUGH POWER TO KEEP MY LAWN EDGED PROPERLY. I USUALLY EDGE EVERY 2 OR 3 WKS. SOME PEOPLE COMPLAIN ABOUT THE POWER. THANKS
Asked by: Anonymous
This edger has an 8" blade, the difference between that and a 4" blade is the 4" blade is half the size needed. I would highly recommend the Echo brand replacement blade, they are not too terribly expensive and when I got home with a spare blade (when I bought my edger) I found that I got a 2 blade pack for around 10 dollars. I found that it has plenty of power for my yard, even did the neighbors yard which had not been edged in over 2 years without a problem. on heavy overgrowth it will take an extra minute or two.

What type of fuel does it use

Asked by: Anonymous
Find a gas station that sells ethanol-free gasoline and use that gallon in your mix. Most people buying this edger are residential users, so you don't want to have that single tank of 50:1 mix sitting for a long time if you're using 10% ethanol gasoline. Also, you don't have to use echo or stihl branded 50:1 mix. You can get a gallon of 2 stroke outboard mix as long as you read the labels and it meets Echo's requirements.

DOES THE PE225 edger COMES IN LEFT OR RIGHT HANDED OR ONE SIDE ONLY

Asked by: Anonymous
Motor is configured for righties with the exhaust on the outside for a RH person. To my knowledge, ECHO does not build specific motor configurations for lefties.

8 in. 21.2cc Gas Stick Edger is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 227.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not effective It was a good idea from a good brand and the edger looks cool...however it is difficult to use....it is awkward to hold .....the tool can lack power at times....you are honestly better off just using a weed eater to edge....I went through my sidewalk with the edger and then went on the other side with my echo weed Eater and it was a lot easier to do and had a way better cut.....than the edger...they need to redesign this and maybe I'll try it again....don't listen to the reviews that say it has plenty of power it does not....

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Echo edger I use this product for my landscape business . I never have any problems at all with echo products from the Home Depot

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good quality and performance I purchased this edger, took it home, and put it to work immediately on a major edging job. The sidewalk by my house was seriously overgrown from months of neglect. It was St. Augustine grass, some of the toughest grass to cut. But the edger did a great job of cutting through it and, after cleanup, the sidewalk looks great. It took about 45 minutes of high torque running of the engine, but it never faltered or stumbled. I'm looking forward to being able to maintain the edge of the sidewalk for many years with this edger.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Underpowered Toy This is an underpowered toy. Echo made their name by selling commercial grade equipment to professionals who must rely on them all day long. However, they must have sold out to the big box boys and created a "price point" piece to satisfy the masses. This edger lacks heft and power to cut thru grass. It just bogged down and bounced on the grass I was trying to cut. After attempting just 20 feet of driveway, I gave up and returned it to the store.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not worth the $ Echo makes quality products however, this wasn't on par with what I've come to expect. It couldn't edge my driveway ( the blade would stop turning at even minimal resistance) that I edge regularly with an electric trimmer (without issue). It just doesn't have enough power to do even basic edging.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solid product I've been using another brand for several years and recently decided to spend a bit more for a higher quality tool and have not been disappointed. I had no idea how much better Echo would perform! Also, the ergonomics of the edger are far superior for taller people. Cutting power was much better too. My only regret is I didn't make the change sooner.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Does the job. I bought this edger to use for personal use. I opted for the smaller unit since I will not be using it frequently. It does the job, but could be stronger. If you plan on using frequently step up to the next model.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best easy start I own I bought this edger several years ago and it never fails to start every spring. I have a torn bicep and I can pull start this edger. That is why I bought a new ECHO chainsaw today.
