Customer Questions & Answers

is the level of the blade adjustible on the model PE 225?

Asked by: Anonymous
You can only adjust the cutting depth. Its done by loosening a knob and moving the wheel up or down and then tightening the knob.

This edger has an 8" blade, the difference between that and a 4" blade is the 4" blade is half the size needed. I would highly recommend the Echo brand replacement blade, they are not too terribly expensive and when I got home with a spare blade (when I bought my edger) I found that I got a 2 blade pack for around 10 dollars. I found that it has plenty of power for my yard, even did the neighbors yard which had not been edged in over 2 years without a problem. on heavy overgrowth it will take an extra minute or two.

What type of fuel does it use

Asked by: Anonymous
Find a gas station that sells ethanol-free gasoline and use that gallon in your mix. Most people buying this edger are residential users, so you don't want to have that single tank of 50:1 mix sitting for a long time if you're using 10% ethanol gasoline. Also, you don't have to use echo or stihl branded 50:1 mix. You can get a gallon of 2 stroke outboard mix as long as you read the labels and it meets Echo's requirements.

Motor is configured for righties with the exhaust on the outside for a RH person. To my knowledge, ECHO does not build specific motor configurations for lefties.

8 in. 21.2cc Gas Stick Edger is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 213.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from below average made cheap, not to last I would stay away from this edger. Both handles wander on the shaft needed constant adjustment during use. I had a heck of a time getting this edger to start for the first time. I pulled the spark plug after quite some time trying to get it to start and the threads on the head/spark plug were gummed up. I put a drop of fuel in it and cleaned the threads as best i could and got the spark plug back in with a sketchy amount of force needed to thread it in. It now starts cold in about 4 pulls. I have other echo lawn products and am VERY underwhelmed by this tool. On an up note i think it has enough power to get the job done. I also have a problem hot starting ALL of my echo 2 stroke items. I just start them, get the job done and don't turn them off. They always start again after they cool.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good quality and performance I purchased this edger, took it home, and put it to work immediately on a major edging job. The sidewalk by my house was seriously overgrown from months of neglect. It was St. Augustine grass, some of the toughest grass to cut. But the edger did a great job of cutting through it and, after cleanup, the sidewalk looks great. It took about 45 minutes of high torque running of the engine, but it never faltered or stumbled. I'm looking forward to being able to maintain the edge of the sidewalk for many years with this edger.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not effective It was a good idea from a good brand and the edger looks cool...however it is difficult to is awkward to hold .....the tool can lack power at are honestly better off just using a weed eater to edge....I went through my sidewalk with the edger and then went on the other side with my echo weed Eater and it was a lot easier to do and had a way better cut.....than the edger...they need to redesign this and maybe I'll try it again....don't listen to the reviews that say it has plenty of power it does not....

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solid product I've been using another brand for several years and recently decided to spend a bit more for a higher quality tool and have not been disappointed. I had no idea how much better Echo would perform! Also, the ergonomics of the edger are far superior for taller people. Cutting power was much better too. My only regret is I didn't make the change sooner.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Completely Satisfied I bought my Echo PE-225 Gas Edger around 2 months ago. The price was slightly higher than the other brands at Home Depot but I am so happy that I spent a little bit extra to get the Echo. It cranked on the second pull right after fueling up the tank and ran like a champ. It has plenty of power to plow right through the thick grass that had overgrown from the yard onto the driveway and the street. It didn't stall once. Ive used it several times since to service other properties and it always cranks right up. I also love that it comes with a 5 year warranty for no extra cost. THAT is what I call standing by your products. Since this purchase I went on and bought an Echo PAS-225 split shaft weed trimmer so I can experiment with Echo's line of attachments as well as trimming yards. I will be sticking with the Echo brand from now on. I can't say enough to show just how much I love these products. I have never seen their match in reliability and durability. I would recommend to anyone, homeowners and contractors alike.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from You want me to rate you a 10? I gave you a raving review last week, I don't feel like doing it again. Still love my edger, wish it came with a strap though. Had to buy one, but I am sure it is not as comfortable as one that would have come from Echo!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Products Now own a Echo edger to go with my blower and trimmer. Never a problem starting. A little maintenance on them like anything and they perform like new.
