My shindaiwa 488 worn out and I was looking for a replacement chainsaw. Read about echo acquiring shindaiwa, so I started comparing what Echo chainsaw would be compatible. The CS500P is light for it's class...which is a big plus for me. Also my bars and chains from the 488 will fit on the CS-500P. It has the CID and has always started in 2 pulls. Also it does not have the primer bubble, which always leaks at the wrong time---it does not need a primer --starts within 2 pulls. This saw is well balance--I have the 20 inch bar and have use the full length and it never pulls the saw down--awesome power. I have ran about 10 tank fulls and the fuel consumption is excellent. I am very happy with the saw and would buy another one if someone stole this one...cause I believe it's a quality saw and probably will last a long time

I own a smaller Echo at home in FL and purchased this one to use at hunting camp in WV. I removed the bar and put the saw in my checked baggage prior to it ever having fuel or oil in it. I re-assembled once I arrived at camp. I look forward to using it for some timber stand improvements on the property as well as for cutting fire wood.

I have purchased my echo chainsaw about 3 months ago and it works really good. I have made around 10 loads since the day I bought it and it still gets the job done. Thanks for a great product for our first winter.

This is a good saw, powerful, and easy to start. The price was high, but if it is reliable, it will be worth the money.

I was really surprised at how easy this saw starts and cuts.
Replaced a Stihl MS170 homeowner saw and this is by far a superior, professional wood cutting machine.

I have just put mine on order with a 18" bar, must say its not cheap! At $723 Canadian, but really looking forward to getting this saw! Using it for cutting firewood to sell and make money, would rate the quality and value but don't have the saw yet so I wouldn't be able to say what it's like but I bet if it's like the cs-4400 it's a saw that will last!

Going on my 3rd season and already have 10 loads cut. I go through a lot of firewood and this saw NEVER fails to start. It uses far less gas than the Stihl 025 model and cuts better. Its also balanced much better. I love my choice in the CS 500P.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Skilo CS-500P is the best 50.2 cc over the CS-490
The Echo CS-500P saw performs well, with lots of power once it gets broke in (after about one tank of fuel), feels great in my hands and is the lightest 50.2 cc on the market, whereas the Echo CS-490 50.2 cc wasn't as comfortable in my hands and is a cheaper venison of the CS 500P. I bought a MS 251 Stihl and returned it after reading their bad reviews and agreeing the company has cut corners on quality and warranty. My Echo CS 500P cut for hours and had plenty of power and its Japan background shined through in features and quality. For instance, its adjustable bar oilier, rubber coated aluminum handle, easy access to the washable air filter and a cold weather vent to keep the carb from freezing up in real cold weather, and it has a metal crankcase rather than plastic one making an engine repair easier. Echo oil is rated Jaso FD and exceeds FB which Stihl uses, some dealers say that using the FB oil would harm Echo products so I use the Echo's oil in all my 2- stroke engines. The Echo CS-500P is an updated 502s Shindawia now badge as an Echo. Echo and Shindawia merged a few years back making this possible. IMHO I believe the Echo CS-500P is the very best saw for the price on the market. It comes with a professional bar and chain. Echo, thanks for taking care of the details and producing quality at a fair price.
