what gauge string do i use for the GT225

the nylon stringers come out of the heads when i weed grass at high speed?

I use LoNoiz .130-Inch-by-150-Foot Spool Commercial Grade Spiral Twist Quiet. It is awesome trimmer line! I use needle nose pliers to remove it from the trimmer head when nit needs replacing, as it is usually tight. But inserting new line is no issue at all!

Is this product worth the money and has anyone had to use the warranty ?

Asked by: Anonymous
Purchased this two years ago. It's easy to use, light weight and starts very easily every time. However last week I noticed some gas leaking. Found that the fuel line to the PCV valve was splitting. The user manual indicates that warranty is for five years including the fuel lines. The manual also indicates that fuel with 10% ethanol is fine. Took it to an authorized service center and they claimed that fuel system not covered by warranty because use with ethanol fuel. My choice was to argue about it or buy the part myself and install. Service center also said 3 week wait for service. Clearly they did not want to handle this, and I couldn't wait 3-weeks, so I bought the 3-hose fuel line assembly for $18 and installed it myself in 10 minutes. This is a great trimmer but you can't depend on the quality or warranty.

Are these trimmers good for edging?

Asked by: Anonymous
no the curved head is difficult to get into position and you will have a hard time keeping string in it that's if you can get it started.

:Having trouble getting the gt-225 curved model started. Thought I followed directions. What could I be doing wrong ?

Asked by: Anonymous
My first unit would not start at all with the starter pack and regular unleaded fuel. Your better off to use a higher grade fuel or a 50:1 premix. I swapped out my first one for another and it started right up. I made sure to do it there at Home Depot so I did not become a traveler of multiple trips.

I replaced my old Echo. It was over 10 years old and had performed well for all those years. I never had to take it in for any reason. Because of that record, I purchased the new one. I really like this product and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Absolute satisfaction!! I am 80 years old and still take care of my 10 acres. This is the FIRST weed-eater I have ever had that was easy to start, easy to reload string and light enough to weed-eat around all of my Crepe Myrtles. I have about 100 . Love the weedeater.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Rapid-Loader™ I love my Echo product as I have in the past, that I bought a newer one. I thought I did the right thing by buying this new easy quick string loader, the rapid-loader. Come to find out there is a lot of waste of the nylon cord and time to reload. I find it to be very wasteful and time consuming! if you add the little pieces that are left on the head, you would find that it is not cost effective, not to mention the time to stop, pull out the ends and discard, then refit the new pieces. I rather have the spool, fill it and forget it about it! this head should't have even been made, not environment friendly, and costly to the consumer

Rated 4 out of 5 by from So far, so good I have a few ECHO products that I am very happy with. I own a mid-sized chainsaw that gets much abuse and it hangs right in there. I also have a small backpack blower that is probably my most reliable piece of yard equipment. So when it came time to replace an old weed trimmer, I chose the ECHO 225. I've only had it for about a week but so far it meets my expectations. The first thing that I did notice is that the line is thin and week. If you do any strenuous trimming at all, the line is pretty useless. I did discover however that this head will take a heavier line. That seems to have solved this problem for me. It starts very easily and runs well. I am pleased with it so far.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from You get what you pay for I needed a weed trimmer at the at the beginning of the season, but was on a tight budget because we just bought the house and were getting married in June, so I bought the GT-225 from Home Depot. Its an OK weed eater, but it lacks features like being able to change the head to an edger and it is really not made very well. The head is already spinning off balance like when you over load your washing machine, and the throttle has a sticking point right in the middle, where it clicks and hold the throttle open or closed. I had to bring it to a service center to see if they can fix it, and its barely 6 months old. I wish I had the budget to buy a higher end tool, but my funds were limited at the time. You get what you pay for...

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not a good buy! I bought a new Echo GT-225 thinking that I was getting a product that would take care of my weed eating needs which only consist of trimming after I've mowed. I was really wrong, the head that came on the unit is basically worthless. The string broke repeatedly no matter how slowly and carefully I progressed. I could trim no more than about 15 feet without having to stop and change the line. Even though the trimmer works fine this feature being the most important consideration makes it a "Do Not Buy". I had to do research online and found out this is a common complaint with the fix being to buy an Echomatic head that will work on this equipment. I bought the new head and suspect it will work fine but I shouldn't have had to spend more money to get satisfactory results.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great buy I bought this little Echo a year ago as a back-up for my main trimmer that is always in the shop. (it's a high dollar husqvarna) Anyway, the Husqvarna has been in the shop this Spring so I have only been using this little Echo. What a beauty it is! Starts every time and has enough power to do my yard. I don't buy the pre-cut string since it doesn't seem to last as long as the heavy duty roll. I just pre-cut sections out before I start with it and put them in my pocket. Going to replace my Husqvarna with a larger Echo straight shaft on my next trip to Home Depot. (i'm tall so the curved shaft is ok for a back-up)
