The most likely cause of low engine power is an obstruction within the exhaust system. All ECHO engines are equipped with a spark arrestor screen located within the muffler. If the spark arrestor screen becomes clogged with debris such as carbon or stale fuel deposits, the debris prevents the exhaust gases from escaping properly. This lack of exhaust prevents the engine from "breathing" providing a low power symptom. To check the screen, first remove the plastic housing that is covering the muffler. On the muffler assembly you will notice a rectangular plate towards the bottom of the muffler. 3-4 Phillips head screws hold on the plate. Remove these screws, and lift off the plate, and remove the screen. The screen should be completely clear, however, the chances are the screen is just about completely clogged. If the screen is clogged, the screen must be replaced. The Second most likely cause of low power is a faulty spark plug. A spark plug may look clean, and may even allow a unit to run at idle or at mid-range speeds. If the spark plug is faulty the spark will not be sufficient enough to completely ignite the fuel mixture under high compression and engine speeds. The third most likely cause of low power could be an obstruction within the fuel system. If dirt, water, or stale fuel has entered the carburetor, the debris can clog the jet that causes fuel starvation and low power. Read Less

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by One stop solution Easy one package solution and cost effective. Just be careful when you pull out the fuel line to replace the inline gas filter. Follow the package directions as you could pull off the line from the carb pickup. Real pain to reattach. November 11, 2014
