Even further....will this work with the Ryobi Expand-it system handle that uses the 40 volt lithium ion battery? Any information regarding compatibility with the Ryobi Expand-it system would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

The drive cable is the same size on every brand I've seen. The difference with Echo is the shaft size. The shaft of the Echo attachments is slightly more narrow than the universal homeowner brands. This also prevents you from using the universal homeowner attachments in an Echo PAS power head unless you modify those attachments to make them "thinner".
This is designed, of course, to increase sales of Echo equipment. Proprietary accessories is one of the oldest tricks in the book. Most people probably just shrug and buy the higher priced Echo attachment, so it's probably not a bad business decision. However, if you are looking to upgrade your Ryobi cordless system with an Echo attachment, go for it.
One other point I should make is that of all the accessories that exist, the brushcutter is probably the one that you should NOT be using on a cordless system. I think that even the Ryobi brand brushcutter is explicitly listed as an attachment that should not be used on the Ryobi electric or cordless power heads. This is probably due to safety issues and the fact that a brushcutter can destroy your equipment really quickly if you're treating it like a chainsaw and letting it agressively bang into whatever you're trying to knock down. Use attachments for your system that require less torque like a trimmer or pole saw. Read Less

Answer:
I haven't used it on bamboo, but based upon how it works with Scotch broom which is a harder, woody plant, I would say depends on how thick it is. Guess maybe up to ½" stalks but don't have an exact answer. Definitely would have issues cutting the larger "timber" varieties of bamboo I believe.

Answer:
Yes it can. It will depend on the diameter (1 inch or less) of the bamboo, how sharp your blade is and is the bamboo green or brown. You can't hurry cutting the bamboo either. A fairly sharp blad will cut down a tree about 1-1/4 inches in diameter. Take your time be sure you have gloves, earplugs and safety glasses on before you use the attachment.

I have never tryed it on Bambo but I have cut small trees up to about 2" . The unit will cut better the more power your motor has. Just watch rocks and try not to hit the ground. The blade will get daul if it strikes rocks.

Rated 4.5 out of 5 by 82 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Works well Simple assembly and functions well. It will bog the motor a bit if you're running the smaller PAS motor head, you need to hold the throttle for a few seconds to let it spool up. Once spinning, it goes through tough woody weeds quite readily. Very smooth. There are all kinds of warnings about kickback, but I find it to be very smooth and easy to handle. Comes with a neat little storage hook with a dust cap for the drive shaft. Keeps detritus out of the drive end, and makes hanging it up out of the way simple and easy. My one quibble is the length. I am 6'4", and I wish the shaft was about 3-4" longer. I have to stoop to use it, so the ergonomics aren't great for taller users. August 3, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by powerful product-does as advertised. easy to assy, only problem is the instructions t failed to tell you that the blade nut is reverse thread. once i got passed that i had no more problems. August 9, 2016

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by PAS Brush Cutter Attachment Excellent attachment. Lack of clear instructions made it difficult to assemble out of box, spent too much time on this. So far I'm pleased with its performance. June 24, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Very useful attachment Missing parts to attach the brace over the shaft to the shield. Otherwise, I would have rated higher. One of the most useful attachments I have for my Echo PAS system. June 24, 2016

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Durable/Incredible Incredible durability and speed. Purchased with a ECHO25.4 cc Gas PAS Power Source. Nothing but power. May 24, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Just what I needed for clearing blackberries & brush I was delighted to find out that there was a brush cutting blade attachment like this. This drove my decision to by the Echo PAS power head (reviewed that separately). It was a little tricky assembling the guard, but once I got oriented to the way it needed to go on, it was pretty simple to do. The PAS assembly (attachment to power source) is a piece of cake to attach/detached. In operation (not used one of these before) it took me a little time to get the technique down, but once I did it really chews through the brush. Doesn't cut harder wood stems like Scotch broom but my main reason for getting it was to cut down blackberries which it does with gusto! I found the strap that comes with it to not work very well for me, just seemed a bit too long and not helpful, so I don't typically use it. I have about 5 acres of brush to clear, so this tool is going to get used a lot. Glad I bought it! April 22, 2016
