Customer Questions & Answers

Will the articulating hedge trimmer really not work with the PAS-280? That's the tool I have and I have a job that I need the articulating hedge trimmer for.
Asked by: Rucksdaddy
ECHO does not recommend the use of any hedge clipper attachment with the PAS-280. The PAS-280's high powered torque and engine will cause pre-mature damage to the gear case on both hedger clipper, and articulating hedge clipper attachments.

can this be used to cut small brush / rag weed close to the ground?

Asked by: tomcat
ECHO does not recommend using the Hedge Trimmer Attachment on or near the ground. It may cause dirt ingestion in the gear case. If the blades also come in contact with dirt, it will dull the blades.

I avoid cutting more than 3/8 dia. twigs. I don't want to mess up the sharpness of the blades. Articulating has its advantage. I can change the angle of the blade to ease certain cutting angles. The only thing I dislike is the weight. It gets too heavy for a while. I got this 3 yrs. ago and ready as always when needed!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent I thought this was to expensive to purchase. However, as fall is now here I went ahead with the purchase and man am I happy I can trim all our 8 to 10ft bushes and never step on a ladder. I also do it in a fraction of time. Echo is more expensive but their reputation is why I went with them on the PAS system attachment

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works well. Gets heavy. Don't try to cut anything over a third of an inch thick, and be prepared to rest periodically if you are reaching to trim. The entire unit can get heavy. Due to its length, it needs plenty of room to maneuver around. It's not a replacement but rather a compliment to a hand held hedge trimmer.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great attachment Great for trimming taller bushes. Not ideal for shaping small bushes because of size. Glad I purchased this attachment.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Extreme Versatility I purchased the PAS 225 with the Articulating Hedge Trimmer to get a massive hedge row under control. I have really enjoyed the ability to adjust the cutting angle which allows me to attack most trimming challenges standing stright up and not being a Contortionist. It has demonstrated amazing cutting abilities and the extended shaft allows me to do most of my trimming from one side. I highly recommend this tool. A great time saver.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from high quality product I use this piece of equipment commercially. I'm glad I bought this one instead of the stationary hedge trimmer. It's far more useful. The blades have stayed sharp for 6 months and I've used it about 2/3 times a week. This is the tool you need to deal with blackberry bushes. One guy cuts and another guy uses a pitchfork to scoop up what's been cut as you go. I have it hooked up to the 266 and it has plenty of power.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Top quality but you need to be strong First the quality is top notch. The blades are ultra sharp and nothing about it feels cheap. But it is heavy so be prepared to get a work out when you use it. Since it is intended to be used with power heads that already has a pretty long shaft, it does and will add quite a bit of weight to the assembly. Also the PAS power head that I used it with had a standard small plastic handle and I think for something this heavy, a more substantial aluminum handle would've been preferable... Not the handlebar type you see on brush cutters but something else. I used this with a harness that came with my old craftsman brushcutter since the loop strap that came with the power head is a joke but found that for my purposes it hung too low to be of any use in shifting weight to shoulders.
