Product was as advertised, perfect fit for my tool. However, the quick advance bump feature does not function consistently, causes excessive wear on base of trimmer head!!!

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by AngryDrumGuy Great product, but bad Info from store associate- returning item.
I've used these trimmer heads on several brands with no problems, although I'd like to see a less invasive universal conversion system and maybe a thicker ABS plastic on the bottom of the head (I've cracked two after bumping landscape stones).
After inheriting an old Craftsman trimmer, a store associate assured me the head's universal mount system would accommodate the trimmer with no trouble. After opening the non-resealable clam shell packaging, I discovered the trimmer head doesn't accommodate any craftsman models, via the installation manual.
Since the package was open, I attempted to match parts with no luck. Now I have to hope the customer service folks are kind enough to return the item and let me purchase one which actually fits. It's a shame too- these heads are nearly flawless in operation.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Saki It saved my GT-225 Echo grass trimmer
I was ready to return my GT-225 Echo grass trimmer because the 2-line Rapid Loader trimmer head made what should have been a fast and easy job instead a long and difficult one. I had to replace my trimmer lines three times to mow my yard! I would have returned the trimmer except that I liked everything else about it except the trimmer head. So instead I purchased this Echo Speed Feed 400 bump feed head. This is what Echo should have made standard. It does exactly what it is supposed to do. I would have given it 5 stars except that the instructions are not very clear. So far I've only tested it...haven't actually used it for a regular job.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Mechanic Echo Speed Feed 400
I recently purchased the Echo Speed Feed 400 for a commercial trimmer that it did not fit and I just thought I wonder if this fits on my Toro commercial string trimmer with the Expand It straight shaft trimmer attatchment that I purchased from HD.......and it does. I then tried it on my Ryobi 40 volt trimmer with the Expand It Attatchment and it fit also. So far it seems to be a nice upgrade over the factory installed trimmer head.
There are some questions about the product where the answer says it won't fit the Expand It straight trimmer attachment so I have included a few pics to verify the fact that it does. It loads and feeds the trimmer line very smoothly and as far as the reviews that say it doesn't last and it wears out fast .......I guess only time will tell. If that be the case I will post an update. I am honestly posting now for those who want to purchase the Echo Speed Feed 400 for the Toro or Ryobi and I can only guess but it is almost a 100 percent positive guess that it will also fit the Homelite Expand It straight trimmer attatchment also since all are made by Techtronic Industries
To get the Echo Speed Feed 400 to fit on the straight shaft Expand It Trimmer attatchment. You will need to remove the factory installed adapter bushing (see pic) using two16 mm wrenches or a wrench on the bottom hex and a socket.on the top adapter. They are left hand threads so loosening is turning the adapter in a clockwise manner. Clockwise and counter clockwise are determined as you are facing the bolt or adapter bushing looking at it from the top.
After removal of the factory adapter ( see pic) you will see the threaded shaft that the Speed Feed 400 adapter bushing must thread on to. You will need to remove the installed adapter pressed into the Speed Feed 400 trimmer head since that is not the correct one for the Expand it attatchment. You will have to disassemble the Speed Feed 400 head to remove the factory installed threaded adapter. No worry it presses out with just fingertip pressure but it comes factory pre installed to fit Echo Shindaiwa products and not Expand It attatchment trimmers. Take pics of the Speed Feed 400 on your phone or some type of photographi device or video as you disassemble it to help with reassembly if need to. It will be easier to reassemble the trimmer head without the trimmer line installed plus it will give you an idea as to how it works also. Also the trimmer spool can be installed backwards if disassembled and the reassembled incorrectly. It comes pre installed for straight shaft left hand rotation trimmers but it can also be reversed for curved shaft right hand rotation trimmers as well so make sure the L is facing out. A piece of tape or mark on the trimmer line spool on the side facing out or the ground side as you are trimming with it will help with the correct orientation as you reassemble it. As long as you see the L however meaning for left hand rotation straight shaft trimmers you have installed it correctly. If you see the R then you should be installing the Speed Feed 400 on a right hand rotation curved shaft trimmer.
Find the adapter bushing in the Speed Feed 400 kit that fits the Expand It attatchment threads and press this one in place of the factory installed adapter bushing installed in the same way as the one you removed. Reassemble the Speed Feed 400 without trimmer line after installing the correct adapter bushing and thread it onto the Expand it shaft. it threads and tightens in a counter clockwise rotation. Remember they are left hand threads and loosening and tightening are opposite the more popular right hand threads. Now you will also see how easy it is to load the trimmer line and as you use your new Echo Speed Feed 400 trimmer head on your Ryobi Toro Homelite Expand it straight shaft trimmer hopefully your experience will be a pleasant one also.

replacing string is a pain and then it feeds sporadically. Don't buy!

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by saruman Very convenient, but a bit over-priced
A little pricey, but worth the money. The only issue I have with it is that the original locking piece from the original head is necessary should you need to remove this head. This unfortunately made it a multi-day attempt at removal/changing the head that I had bought 2 years ago and was worn out. Otherwise it was great.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Dick For my Echo weed eater.
This is my second one. I bought one of these several years ago and since nothing lasts forever, neither did this. I hit a curb with it and it came apart and then I never did find the spring, so since I thought it had already paid for itself and it was time for a new one. I did just that. I bought a new one and now I am ready for several more years of use with this handy line holder.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by MowerMan Best replacement trimmer head upgrade
This is the best fast-load trimmer head I've ever used, even better than previous Echo speed loaders. After you're familiar with the process, reloading line takes 60 seconds at most. When the head cap eventually wears out, Echo offers replacements at a reasonable price vs having to purchase an entire new head. All of my commercial trimmers have been fitted with this head, regardless of brand; the time savings is worth the investment.
