ECOBOND LBP 1 gal. Latex primer, a unique sealant and treatment formula for lead based paint mitigation, is now easy, safe, and inexpensive for both contractors and homeowners. The easy one step Paint It On and Leave It On formula readily adheres to most lead paint surfaces, providing an eco-protective sealant and lead treatment. When used prior to renovation, repair and painting (RRP) activities, remediation and demolition, or lead paint stabilization ECOBOND LBP creates a layer that binds lead dust, supporting final clean certification, minimizes health and safety hazards, and greatly simplifies cleanup. The flexibility of ECOBOND LBP allows for (1) the application of a top coat to leave in place or (2) removal and non-hazardous environmentally protective waste for disposal. The active ingredient of ECOBOND LBP that binds the lead will create a rough final finish. As commercial contractors have discovered nationwide, only Eco bond LBP provides a sealant and treatment solution for commercial and industrial LBP activities.

  • Easy to use, apply with brush, roller or airless sprayer
  • Average dry to touch is 2-4 hours, average time to apply top coat by brush or roller is 24-48 hours, high humidity will require additional time for drying before application of top coat

  • Low VOC acrylic interior/exterior latex base primer formula contains paint additives to provide good adhesion over lead based paint surfaces, assist with penetration into substrate and resist mold and mildew growth
  • Active ingredient of ECOBOND LBP creates a rough final finish
  • Prior to use, re-mix for 1 minute per gal., if desired consistency is not achieved, may add up to 2 percent water by weight

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Hybrid Worked Great We have an old Victorian in Louisville that we used this on and like many people I am sure were skeptical when I read that it "treats lead". We put this on with a very easy application covering both wood and drywall with one coat. In some areas where there was previous gloss paint was simply prepped with the use of a deglosser prior to applying and it worked great. HIGHLY SUGGESTED!!! August 17, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by still evaluating paint is encapsulating paint for lead paint that is peeling etc. it was much thicker than we has imagined, could not use in our paint sprayer. paint sprayer had been suggested. would have been helpful to have specifics regarding paint sprayer spec. necessary and otherwise good product, but needs more info before purchase. esp at the expense that it is. home depot was helpful in that it absorbed the high shiping rates otherwise would have been incurred in purchase form manufacturer or even amazon. Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Peace of Mind I have mixed feelings about this product. My house is nearly 300 years old. We have lead paint. We initially painted over everything when we moved in a decade ago, but we have a baby now, and I need to be certain that everything is solidly covered. Naturally we don't have the $$k to abate all of the paint in the house, so this sounded like a good plan. There isn't too much out there about this product, but what there is seemed positive enough, and we don't have anything to lose, right? It's pricey, but it brings peace of mind. The product goes on well. When it dries there is a grainy texture. I'm not certain why, or what this texture does to help encapsulate the old paint, but if you live in an old house there is already so much uneveness that this really doesn't matter. Putting latex paint over this I found I needed two coats, as opposed to just one coat where I did not use the EcoBond. I did try and flake off a piece of the old paint (that would have easily flaked before applying the EcoBond), and the paint wouldn't budge. So, all in all, I would have to say that the EcoBond did the trick. I gave it three stars, because I really don't know about the claims that are made. I just hope that they are in fact true and that all my sills and frames are safer than they were before. November 10, 2015

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by So Far, So Good Painting over a LBP tongue and groove porch ceiling. Had it color tinted, but will top coat with a satin (product is flat). So far so good... October 6, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great product. Goes on well. Bonds well. Fantastic appearance. This is much better product than I ever expected. It goes on as a thick, pure white covering. One coat was enough. It even looks good on its own without further covering. And it's easy to clean up after because it's a latex paint. Once the Ecobond LBP was applied and it dried thoroughly(24-48 hours), I put on a top coat of a premium latex semi-gloss white. It now shines and looks fantastic. I am using it to cover all the trim/moldings in my home.It bonded so well with the top coat, I think it could serve as a great primer for any paint job, even if you were not interested in just covering lead paint. I am definitely impressed with this product and would recommend it without reservation. December 20, 2011
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by did not work the color of the lead based paint that we were attempting to encapsulate kept bleeding thru. We put on three coats of the sealant and it still bled through. Attempted to call the company but was only frustrated after numerous attempts to contact them. have not had time to attempt to return product to home depot. August 11, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by This product worked great I used this product in a variety of conditions and found it treated the lead, I will use and recommend this product in the future for sure! August 1, 2011
