11 lb. Concrete Cutting and Rock Breaking Non-Combustive Demolition Agent Type 1 (68F - 95F) is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 20.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Used for Precise Demolition Product came in a bag, not the pictured tub. There were no instructions for use with the product, so it was necessary to track them down on the Internet. My project was partial removal of some concrete stairs in an addition to my house. Scoring the concrete at the break edge with a diamond blade saw helped terminate the break where desired. A series of small holes were hammer-drilled at that edge, and larger holes drilled along the step to break up the concrete. It took every bit of 3 days for the product to expand and break the concrete, but it did. Mix it properly and have patience to allow the product to work. Would have gotten five stars for my application if the instructions for use were included.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product, wrong package Worked as expected to break a large rock in my basement, which I broke a hammer drill bit in and was unable to budge with a jackhammer, so I was happy when this product cracked the rock with ease. Unfortunately, I did not get the 11 lb of product that I ordered. Closer to 3 lbs in a plastic bag that made my wife nervous it would bust open at any minute. No instructions and sparse labeling came with the package, not even informing me what type of product I had (e.g. Type I). Good product, but poor package and delivery.

Product worked fine to break up portions of a concrete step while leaving parts I wanted intact. However, there were no instructions for use with the product, which necessitated tracking them down on the Internet. Also product was delivered in plastic bag rather than pictured tub. Didn't affect use, but remaining product may not store as well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product. Saves hours of back breaking work! Project was removal of foundation walls in back yard that were to be part of a garage. Reinforced concrete with rebar. Although I didn't exactly follow specific directions (only drilled a 1 inch hole not 1 1/2 inches), the product worked very well. Poured slurry at noon, left for the day and at 6:30 PM concrete was fractured. It fractured even more overnight. I was impressed because my walls were very solid. Used a sledge hammer to remove the pieces. I need to do this process again as walls are very deep and very solid, so another try in the near future to finish the job. I highly recommed this product. Be sure to buy the right type for the temperature range you will be working in (I used type 1: 68 to 95 degrees) and follow directions carefully. I will drill larger holes next time. I went about a foot deep the first time and will do the same next time. Without Ecobust this would have taken me all summer.....and then some. Not a fun project, but this will save a ton of time and effort.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from I hope it is NOT as misleading as the picture I purchased ECOBUST 11 lb. Concrete Rock Breaking Demolition Agent from the reviews I have read. I ordered and had it ship to store. When I picked it up and opened the box I was appalled to see a cheap bag rather than the bucket Home Depot advertises in the picture of the product. I have NOT used it yet but I sure hope it is NOT as misleading as the picture in the ad on the Home Depot’s web site

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing! Truly Works! We have an old house that had a poorly designed concrete steps into the back yard, so we decided to demolish and build new. I was somewhat skeptical that this would work. But I followed the directions and drilled a series of 1.5 inch holes in a poured concrete steps. In three hours the first cracks appeared and by morning a half inch wide fissure had split the steps into sections. A few whacks from the sledge finished off the job. The only problem that I had drilled two of my holes all the way through and there was no cracking at those holes. However, the product must have stressed the concrete so that a few swings of the sledge smashed it to manageable chunks.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A very forgiving product Used this product to break up a concrete footing for a 4" steel pipe that formerly had a C band satellite dish on it. the concrete probably weighed 800 lbs. or more and was not moveable without some heavy equipment. My options were to hire a back hoe or rent a big chipping hammer. Both of these options were fairly pricey. While roaming through HD one day I spotted this product. It seemed a little pricey but hey if it works it will be worth it. Well it worked even though I didn't follow the directions to the letter. I didn't have a 1 1/2" drill but I did have a 3/4" so decided to try anyway. Since I didn't have the larger drill I put the holes about 6" apart instead of the recommended 18" and I even just mixed the slurry by eye. After 24 hours no results but the next morning the concrete had split into 2 pieces. The process had to be repeated a couple more times to arrive at chunks that can be lifted by hand and to drill holes that are fairly vertical. If the holes are at an angle that allows the slurry to leak out it probably won't work. Recommendations; first follow the directions on the product if at all possible. If you do not have the 1 1/2" drill use as large a drill as you have, I would say at least 3/4", and space the holes closer together. I would also recommend mixing the slurry in small batches by weighing out the powder and adding the amount of water by proportion. I used 2 lb. powder to 1/3 L. of water. Mix the slurry well and continue to mix as you put it in the holes. It has a tendency to settle. Also make sure the holes are empty. I flushed the holes with water then blew the water out with an empty garden sprayer. The product isn't recommended for concrete slabs less than 6" thick but as before I decided to try it anyway. Well it worked again. Clean up is simple and other than the powder stage, like concrete or mortar mix, tends to get blown around during the mixing so do it outdoors. I found mixing in small batches the best approach since it's difficult to estimate exactly the quantity needed. This is a very forgiving product and for me it saved money and a lot of nasty work.
