Gas trimmer died and wanted to try a cordless. This seem to have the best features with dual 0.080" lines and 58v battery. It was well balanced. Then I used it. The bump feed worked once then I had to stop every couple of minutes and feed the string out manually, The string shortened to a couple inches very quickly. Even with full out, it has a 6" cutting radius compared to my 9" gas trimmer and wouldn't get under the fence. Had to keep the head too close to the walls kept bumping the guard. I don't have the time to deal with a product that doesn't work. I cleaned it up, boxed it up, and am taking it back to get another Homelite gas trimmer.

I had trouble starting gasoline trimmers. I love this. It makes trimming so easy!

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by TW Don't buy if you're short!
This string trimmer has a very long handle which makes it awkward for a short person to use. The string feeder does not work at all and I have had to constantly take it apart to unwind the string. I have two other products of this brand, the mower and blower and I really love both of them but I am so disappointed in the trimmer. My old corded trimmer that I only paid around $30 was much, much better at trimming grass!

Ever since I purchased this unit the bump feed does not work. I have tried putting the line in loose and then tighter but when you hit the bump it just doesn't feed. Battery life seems to be okay. But it is a pain to have to stop every so often and manually feed the line out.

This trimmer has many short comings. The string spool jams frequently. The bump line feed is inconsistant and it does not feel very powerful. The battery life is good. I am sorry I bought the 12 inch model, maybe the bigger one is better.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Northern Scout EGO weed trimmer
I bought this EGO weeder a couple of months ago. I was tired of using the very good corded machine I have which worked well but was difficult to use due to to the cord. I was cautious about my purchase but had already bought an EGO lawn mower and it worked very well. The EGO weed trimmer worked up to my hopes and expectations. It has an orange string which is .095" diameter like most of the gas driven machines and the string seems to last way better than my older corded one that uses .085 string. I use it around my lawns before mowing and then let the mower pick up the cuttings afterward. The included battery will do my lawns front, back, and sides and only needs a little charging to complete. If I use the battery from the mower the battery will easily do the whole job and more. Next month I'm going to invest in the Ego hedge trimmer that comes without a battery and I already have a battery collection. Oh, I find that the weed trimmer advances the string very reliably by bumping on any flat surface. Not too hard to load new string either. It uses about 15 feet of string folded in half. Instructions tell you how.

I'm disappointed with this trimmer. I used it for the second time yesterday and it started smoling and basically quit working. I'll be returning it today.
