Would I be able to use this in the winter to clear snow

Asked by: Scott
I am not sure, depends on how wet the snow it--we have used it to blow the salt on the sidewalks back away from the building after a snow event and it works great for that.

Asked by: Bill
It only come with the 5.0 AH Battery. You have to order the 7AH Battery and cost of battery over $200.00. FYI, I use it once and have to recharge more than 8 times to finish my backyard less than 1/4 acres. I owned the Husqvarna 580 BTS Gas Blower and it is much better than the the ECO 145 MPH 600 CFM Cordless Blower. The Husqvarna 580 BTS Gas Blower has 908 CFM and can blow away any heavy wet leaves below the grass level. I finish the job less than two hours and compare using the ECO 145 MPH 600 CFM Cordless Blower more than six hours. The ECO 600 CFM will not blower away the heavy wet leaves below the grass level. and I have to use the Turbo setting and if you use the turbo setting the 5.0 AH battery will only last for 15 minutes and again I have to recharge more than 8 times with multiple batteries in order to finish the job. Each battery will require over 45 minutes to finish charging. If you blow the concrete driveway, the ECO 600 CFM will do the job and not in heavy wet leaves back yard. Also, the ECO handle control is not user friendly, it will move left or right by itself and you will have hard time to control it to the direction you want it. The Husqvarna 580 BTS Gas Blower has a much better handle control. Overall, due to short run time battery, and time consuming to recharge the battery, and difficult to control the handle, I will not recommend this unit.

Can you use the 2 amp battery that comes with the string trimmer in this unit without damaging it? I have several batteries (2 amp) that I could use while the 5 amp was charging If it is OK to use them. I know that they wouldn't last as long but at least I could keep on working.

According to the specifications, this unit is compatible with all 56v Ego batteries. You are also correct in the lasting power versus the 5 aH. I wish it came with the 7 aH

145 MPH 600 CFM 56-Volt Lithium-Ion 5.0 Ah Cordless Backpack Blower is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 181.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from 20 minutes, that's all you get I really want to like this product. The battery gives you 20 minutes. 20 minutes! That barely puts a dent in a reasonable sized lot during leaf season. The product is good. Slightly under powered, but acceptable, right up until the battery dies at 20 minutes and you have a huge leaf pile you now have to rake and 3/4 of a yard left untouched. The product should sell at this price with a high capacity battery or at least 3 batteries and chargers to be at all competitive. It's really too bad. I wish this was not the case. Apparently the technology isn't quite there yet.

It has at least as much power as my gas-powered backpack blower, plus it's much quieter and lighter. The one drawback is the limited battery life. When I use it a full strength (without using the turbo), it lasts less than 30 minutes. I've got a little over an acre with lots of trees and a long gravel driveway. Thirty minutes doesn't even come close to getting me halfway through the job. I could buy a second battery to extend my work, but that's another $200! Funny how the blower WITH battery costs $300, but the same blower WITHOUT battery costs $200. Doesn't that mean that the battery should cost just $100?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Powerful and worthy gas replacement EGO Backpack Blower Review. Having used the handheld 480 and 530 EGO Blowers, I just knew that the new high powered battery powered backpack blower was for me. A little background on my yard. I have about ¾ of an acre. My front yard has a few trees, but my side and back yard are completely covered with trees. My cleanup can run into a 4 to 5 hour ordeal with leaves, 6 to 10 times a year. It’s a ridiculous amount of time which I fight with, because I do not enjoy clearing fallen leaves and debris. Unpacking the blower is a pain, but the reward is that it is put together rather easily. I was quite surprised with the benefit of a retractable and removable extension tube. This makes storing the blower really easy as it takes up a lot less space when the 2nd tube is removed for storage. On to the most important thing, using this blower. Ergonomics: 1st off I was a bit turned off at all of the safety straps. But they are on all the new blowers sold these days. I cut off the mid strap and left the bottom, as it’s only slightly useful. The backpack itself is weighty because it holds the 7.5ah battery, but nowhere the weight of a gas engine with a tank of gas. Once you get the height of the shoulder straps adjusted and get things at the height you are comfortable, the unit sits comfortably on the body. The handle can easily be adjusted up and down the tube so you can find a comfortable length, as easy as a twist knob, and it doesn’t come loose. Over all the unit is comfortable and doesn’t stress the shoulders or back, and when properly adjusted puts your arm in a comfortable and pain free position. Use: Ok, let me just say I’m still in awe at the power. Did I say it has a lot of power? Comparing to my Makita Backpack Blower, this unit puts out a bit more CFM and less MPH. What does this mean? It has no problem moving a LOT of debris! I can move larger piles of leaves and twigs because it simply pushes more volume of air. CFM is air volume, MPH is air speed. Speed is more helpful with little things like clippings and small things that tend to stick to rough surfaces. But, EGO offers a flat tip that takes care of that too. I had no problems moving a large amount of damp, clumpy old leaves and branches. Yes I said branches. When using the unit and you hit some really nasty clumped up stuff, hit that turbo, and off it goes. I kept my back yard completely clean for the first year in 20 years of owning this home, why? It was much easier. I didn’t have to go get fresh fuel for my blower, no problem starting a cold mower, only needed 2 charges to do my whole yard, and finally, I finish my yard in under an hour. Summary: The EGO backpack blower deserves 5 stars, and I’m not just saying this because I own it. If it was less worthy, I would say so. I only have one recommendation to EGO, put a cruise control lever on the unit. Pro’s: * Great power, easy to use * Easy storage * Much lighter than a gas-powered blower * Comfortable ergonomics * Grab it and go. * Great value when purchased with the 7.5ah battery Con’s: * Too many safety features (this is my opinion only on these) * Would like cruise control.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from disappointed I bought he 21in self-propelled mower and couldn't be happier. I decided to go all EGO and buy the backpack blower as well. It came with the 5h battery. The power is really not very impressive unless you use the turbo and then the battery only lasted about 15 minutes. As much as I love the mower; I wouldn't recommend the backpack blower. The performance just doesn't make up for the bulkiness while using, and the extra spaces needed when storing.

The battery takes about two hours to charge. The unit sits comfortably on my back. It takes one third the time to do my complete house and yard than it did with our gas powered blower. Just a couple of things I would like to be different. It would be nice not to have to hold down the buttons when doing the fall leaf blowing. It can get stressful on my hand. The other thing, the last extension tube piece was an extremely tight fit. It was difficult to get on and difficult to get off for storage. While a solid fit is necessary for best functionality, I would think it should be easier to assemble and disassemble.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Wish the battery lasted longer I like the blower, but I wish the battery lasted longer. I did read the reviews and knew the battery wasn't the longest lasting. It lasted about 35 minutes on medium and no use of turbo. This only allowed me to complete 2/3s of the front yard. I plan on buying other Ego products, so in the long run switching the battery out every 25 to 30 minutes should allow me to complete the yard with 5 to 6 battery swaps. If I weren't planning on purchasing other products, I might have returned this blower. It is heavy putting it on, but once on is every comfortable. This is easier to use, compared to my corded blower. I am under 5', and have no problem using this blower.

I held off getting an electric leaf blower for the longest time because people said it would not have much power. WRONG. This blower is fantastic. And it has a control to turn down the blast so that you can even blow leaves off of mulch without disturbing the pine or cypress. The pack is comfortable and the arm is easy to turn. The battery power lasts for about 40-45 minutes and then it's time to recharge. The charger is quiet and convenient. Great product! I highly recommend this for people who have lots of leaves to remove each fall.
