Yes, it's normal. The type of battery used in the Ego tools gets warm while recharging, so the charger has a cooling fan to help extend the battery's life.

Yes, this is normal. I think it's kinda cool. The first time I put the battery in the charger, this threw me off too. But the noise comes from a small cooling fan in the charger. It dissipates the heat generated by the charging process.

Right now there's no vacuum attachment. When I'm using it on the higher settings loose leaves do tend to get sucked up to the intake grid. Since there's quite a bit of airflow into the unit when it's blowing, it looks like it ought to be possible to engineer a vacuum using an attachment and a slightly different configuration for the blower intake.

Can't comment on that one from personal experience, Dave. I live in Florida so there aren't a whole lot of leaves falling! I use mine mainly to blow grass clippings off the driveway after mowing the lawn. But I CAN say that according to specs it moves a large volume of air, which would seem to indicate that it would be good at moving leaves. Also, from my years of living up north I can say that just about any blower does a good job with leaves up to a point, until the pile gets too high and then it gets harder and harder to move it much more. But the air volume could help here, I think.
For what it's worth, I really like this blower. The variable speed settings are great to tailor the wind flow to exactly what the job at hand needs. And the turbo boost button is great for when that extra push is needed.
Plus it's much quieter than any other blower I've ever used, whether gas or corded electric.
The main reason for I bought this unit, however, was because I also have the Ego mower, and the battery that comes with the blower has come in handy many times when I just had a little bit more to go to finish the yard after the main battery ran out. So it was almost like getting the blower for free, inasmuch as if I bought a 2nd battery, albeit the 4-amp one, it would still have cost me $199.
Good luck! Read Less

Does a great job, enough power. The battery that is supplied with the blower will run about 15-20 minutes at full switch deflection. If that's all the time you need, it is great. I had to buy the 4 amp battery for an extra $150.00 to get enough staying power for my lawn.

I leave mine on the charger, and the book says it's OK. It seems to me that after they reach full charge the charger shuts off rather than keeping the batteries topped off. I've found that if I have a battery on the charger for a prolonged period of time, it seems to help if I remove it and reinsert it for a quick top-off before starting to use it.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by EGO BLOWER in action I have other blowers that are electric and gas powered but needed something QUICK and EASY to use for small projects and this was the ticket. On sale through H.D. it was an easy purchase and even used my Pay Pal money to buy it. Happy with the purchase. May 3, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Portable, Light Weight and Powerful Light weight and powerful. At full maximum power it will feel like a jet engine in your hand and will move the most stubborn wet leaves at max power setting. 56 volt battery recharges in half an hour or less, depending on how much charge is left. Don't expect to get any more than 45 minutes of run time on high setting and no more that 10 minutes of run time at the max setting. I Like the ease of use and its light weight. Cannot be used to vacuum and can not add any attachments e.g. for blowing out rain gutters, etc. Comes with 3 year warranty on the battery and 5 year warranty on blower unit. Paid eighty five $ on special. Would I pay full price? Not really. May 10, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by My fall was wonderful this year.... This is the most powerful battery operated blower I have used. It's so much more powerful than my cheaper blower I used previously. It's a bit more heavy than my last blower but worth the extra weight and money. My only concern is when the battery will degrade as the blower is more pricey as well as a replacement battery. This blower is quieter than a gas blower and made my leaf blowing this season very easy. In the past I could not clear off heavy leaf coverage which this blower handled fine for me. I'm just wondering if I can use it to clear my walkways this winter with it when we have a light snow. I recommend it although I've only had it for about 1 month. December 8, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Superb, Fantastic and Mind-blowing I have a wrong opinion about the power blowers, But this EGO blower proved me wrong and I think this is the most powerful battery operated blower in the market. Now I am in the process of get rid of my all other garden tools. After using this blower I become a fan EGO products and i have already sold my other brand new (1 year old) gas mower. Trimmer is for on sale. Next week I will be buying the new EGO self-propelled lawn mower and trimmer. My only concern about these products are very costly, but I think they are worth to own it. I recommend it although I've only had it for about 1 month. May 11, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Love This Machine I happened to get this on a Special Buy for $100. I bought 3...1 for me, 1 for my neighbor and 1 for my son. We all have used only a few times but we all love it. Plenty of power to blow debris ion asphalt or cement and grass clippings on sidewalks and driveways. Not powerful enough to blow heavy grass clippings on lawn but most diy blowers have trouble with that. I use my gas blower for that. Plenty of run time. And recharges in an hour. I absolutely love this thing. No priming, no gas and oil to mix, store and pour. Got job to do, just pick it up (it is light and not bulky like my gas blower), click the power button and it blows. Could not be easier or faster. May 3, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Unexpectedly powerful For the price this this thing is unbeatable. I was looking for a blower attachment for my Echo trimmer because I did not want another engine to maintain. I decided on this because they have a great reputation and I always look for something that is modular, efficient, and powerful. I normally get about 45 minutes on a charge (on low setting) and it takes about equal time to charge the battery. I recommend purchasing a second battery if you want continuous usage. I don't mind because except for fall leaves I only need this thing for a few minutes. I do like the boost for those stubborn situations. All in all I am happy with the power. Next I will be looking at purchasing the push mower that uses the same battery. May 4, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Highly desirable I purchased this product for under 100.00 dollars and am highly impressed with the performance. It has a lot of blow power especially on "boost', and is lightweight as well. The only drawback it has is when you are in boost mode, it uses up the battery charge quite quickly. I think it is 15 minutes. Sometimes I cannot finish my job. For small to medium jobs, it is ideal. If you are thinking about blowing a lot of leaves for fall cleanup, you probably will have to recharge. May 18, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by A toy. If you want real power and a long lasting battery. This ain't it. I bought this due to the glowing reviews. Well, my experience was quite different. It says the battery can last up to an hour on the "low" setting. Well, the low setting is for blowing a few grass clippings, not for leaf or even a moderate clean-up. You have to use the high setting which is still a bit paltry. The momentary Turbo mode gives it a good blast but will knock out your battery in ten minutes. So, if you want a toy blower that will scoot away some grass off you porch, this is good. If you want a god clean-ip blower, this is NOT it. I am returning it today. May 4, 2016
