is the screen on the lower or upper half of the window? I am looking for the screen on upper half of door

Asked by: jif
the screen is on both the top and the bottom, if you want the screen on the top, simply lower the top glass or remove it.

Do the windows go up and down?

Do both the top and bottom widows go up and down to allow air etc to pass. I have a couple of small dogs and would like the top to slide down and keep the screen from being jumped up on.
Asked by: Randy
yes and they are removable for cleaning .

Hole for handles - Do I have to drill the holes for the handle depending if I want it to open from the right or left?

The associate at Home Depot told me that the storm door does not have holes for the handle but the customer has to drill them. Is this true?
Asked by: fishhook1
so, they actually give you an easy to follow template so your holes will line up perfectly. the template fits on both side of the handle side at the same time. Very easy to use

32 in. x 80 in. 200 Series Almond Universal Triple-Track Aluminum Storm Door is rated 4.1 out of 5 by 448.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from I have two of these doors. First one... I have two of these doors. First one installed about 5 years ago only issue is rain water will get into the bottom of the door and leave the wooden core wet causing the metal to oxidize(white like powder) to show through. On the new door I primed and painted the exposed wooden core to help prevent this. Also applied RTV Silcone over the exposed exterior metal areas. Other than this the doors open and close very smoothly. No issues with installation.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Corrosion in lower left corner My husband and I had two storm doors installed on each end of our breezeway three years ago, along with new siding, leders and gutters and Anderson windows. Last year my husband noticed that the paint was wearing off on the lower left corner on the outside of one of the doors. This fall I noticed that both doors have peeling paint on the lower left outside corner. I don't know what Emco/Andersen is making their doors out of but they should have lasted longer than this. They have a 10 year warranty. I called to put in a claim which involves sending Emco/Andersen pictures, a copy of the receipt or tax bill to show we are the homeowners. If the company agrees to replace the doors, we have to take the doors down, return them to the store to get new ones. We have to pay someone for the labor. Why can't they make a quality product in the first place

The only con I have is that the "catch" for the latch sticks out a full inch, so you can get loose clothing caught on it. My recommendation would be to move the handle template closer to the edge of the door and then trim the "catch" down a little.

It took two comfortable hours to install with good instructions. I will not testify to its longevity as I have only had it a few weeks. I do find the full screen and self storing windows to be preferable to the roll up screen in my Anderson door.

This door is for flush exterior installation only, not for inset, although the description doesn't say so. Considerable assembly is required. Very heavy. Good operation once installed, and probably durable, although hinge screws are surprisingly small.

I bought two of these doors, one 32" and one 36" for the exterior entry doors to my home. Installation was easy if you follow the directions. I'm fairly handy but the ease of installation was a pleasant surprise as I have never installed something like this before. The reason I gave it two starts is that I have had two issues within only a week of purchase and installation. The first is that the jamb bracket that came with the closer is flimsy and ineffective. Per the directions the jamb bracket is only supported by one screw. I would recommend purchasing a new jamb bracket with at least four screw supports. I ended up doing this for both of my doors after one of my jamb brackets bent from the door being opened too much from the wind. I called EMCO customer service but they do not cover wind and/or storm damage, so it was suggested to me to purchase a new closer from them (a week after I purchased and installed the doors). Like I said, I just bought a new jamb bracket for a few bucks with more screw support to go into the door jamb. Second, on this particular model there are two glass panels that can be moved either up or down (which I thought was pretty awesome at the time of research/purchase). However, due to the two glass panels rain will drip down the inside of one of the glass panels because the seal between them (when both are closed) does not prevent rain from getting inside the door. I'm already worried about how long these doors will last if water is seeping on the inside of them. After only a week of owning these two doors i'm severely disappointed in their performance so far. I would not recommend these to anyone. Maybe go for a full glass pane model instead?
