Can I use this door on a mobile home?

Can I use this door on a mobile home?
Asked by: Shelly
Thank you for your question. The EMCO 200 Self-Storing Storm Door can be installed in a mobile home as long as the door entry opening and the trim meets the requirement being required to install a storm door. Please be advised that the storm door can only be installed on a wood trim and should not be installed as main entry door. For more information, please visit www.stormdoors.com/measure. - Charmaine

I had no installation problems at all, it went smoothly. the only thing I do not like it the latching system of the retractable screen. it rolls down like a window shade and has good spring pressure. it grabs onto the lip of the window below it, it stays in place when the door opens and closes. but if you have children, know idiots, morons or drunks and they decide to be different and knock on or touch the screen it flys up into the door, like a window shade can do. this can damage the unit, I think this is a design flaw. i took away 3 stars for this flaw other then that is was great and is insulated with real wood

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Short-lived, aluminum coating disintegrates! I have had two of these doors. The doors are gorgeous on installation. However, on the first door after one year, moisture from condensation had gotten into the composite layer under the aluminum coating below the window, and the aluminum layer slowly disintegrated and peeled away. Emco replaced the door for free (yay Emco). I then completely caulked and sealed every seam on the replacement door before installing it...but to no avail as now another year later, the same thing has happened. The worst thing is that there are sharp, curled and jagged edges of aluminum exposed where sections of aluminum have dissolved, plus you have to deal with the powdery silver composite material that falls out - I have tried to patch the holes with epoxy, but the disintegration just keeps continuing. The composite material between the wood and aluminum is somehow chemically reacting with the metal to dissolve it when exposed to moisture. Eek!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not a happy camper. I purchased 2 of these Emco storm doors in June of 2013. I was asked for feedback via Home Depot a month later, it was much to early to tell how these storm doors would hold up to Mother nature. Both of these doors went on my back porch, one having a roof over it and the other a wind break cap over the top of the door. This door is never used, we use the one that has the roof over it every time we go on the back porch. That storm door is just fine, the other which is exposed to wind and rain is another story. About a year after the installation of the storm doors I used the other door with the wind break cap above it, I noticed the bottom left jamb was wet and rotted, thinking nothing of it I was able to patch the jamb with wood putty, sanded it and painted it, it looked brand new. That was the last time that door was used until last week, we are having our kitchen worked on and we cannot use the storm door that is covered by the roof. When I opened the other storm door my jaw dropped. This time both jambs were wet and rotted, the rot made it`s way to both bottoms of my brick molding. Looking at the storm door more closely the bottom right corner of the storm door was bellied out, the other side was no better. Whatever material that was used in these storm doors had turned into a white mush, the water was getting into the cheaply made storm door sweep and the storm door is not worth the hassle of trying to fix it. I had to purchase 2 new legs of brick molding and more putty for the jambs, these jambs are manufactured so you cannot just replace the wood in the jamb as they are made as one piece. Before doing anything I tried to caulk the door sweep back flush to the storm door so no more water can get in but it`s it`s beyond repair. If I knew I would have paid the extra money for a better storm door. I am disabled and tasks like these are more so difficult on me. If you plan on buying one of the Emco 200 series doors make sure you have a roof to shield the storm door from the elements or water will find it`s way in via the poor quality of the storm door sweep and turn your door into mush like mine. Now I do not have a storm door and I have to call a contractor to fix all the rotten wood, what really hurts were these doors were not cheap. I do not like to complain but in this case I had to, you don`t want to go thru this headache, pay a little more for a quality storm door.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from First time disapointment with Andersen I have owned this door for a little over a year. The screws included with the door are not stainless steel and all have rusted. Emco/Andersen stated the screws are not covered as a warranty item. I was able to purchase replacement stainless steel screws from a local hardware store. Also the glass on the door has become spotted, I used window cleaners and goo gone as suggested by a telephone Representative from Andersen. This cleaning did not work and the glass has remained spotted. Andersen states there is a 90 day warranty on the glass. Every window and door in my home are Andersen and the quality of those windows were why I chose Andersen for my new storm door. This storm door reflects poorly on Andersen, using inferior screws and possibly glass that were not used by Anderen in the past.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Really Great Storm Door! We have two of these doors in the Bronze and they looked great upon installation and they still look great. We bought and installed both a year and a half ago. We wanted the self storing mechanism because we have young children and we generally have both storm windows down at the bottom of the door and then still get great breeze through the screen at the top. We generally don't adjust them during a rain storm so both doors have gotten completely soaked and there is no rust or weathering showing. Also, the doors get a ton of sun and even though the doors themselves get warm/hot in the sun due to their dark color, the handle remains cool enough that it is not a bother and the doors don't show any damage or fading from the sun. I would highly recommend this door especially in the bronze color, in fact I am recommending it to a friend which is why I looked it up today. It has been really great because no kids or our dog have hurt the screen because you can just slide the storm windows down to protect the screen.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from EMCO Doors These doors disintegrate... after only a year, visible signs of damage were apparent. Corrosion and bulging due to inner door deterioration. after three years the door can not be used. Do yourself a favor and go with a better manufacturer.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Junk, Junky, Junkiest! Purchased 9/08 and that winter seams opened up and began to delaminate. By spring the wood had swelled and started to rot out the metal trim to the point that you could not open the door! At his writing 7/16 the door is in the trash with the aluminum rotted all around, wood warped, rotted and moldy. EMCO products "Suck" and are a disgrace to Andersen Windows!
