Do both the top and bottom widows go up and down to allow air etc to pass. I have a couple of small dogs and would like the top to slide down and keep the screen from being jumped up on.

Answer:
Yes. They can be both up, or both down, so the opening is always either half-open (both windows up or down) or fully closed (one window up, one down). The windows are removable if you want full opening with only the screen in place. Probably not what you want with your dogs around!

I am asking because the storm doors I have currently are damaged at the bottom. The Storm doors are Anderson/Emco. I have had these doors only a few years "not" the length of time I have been in my home, which I have been in my home for 10 years.

Answer:
after a long time (8-10 years) I find the screws that fasten the flanges to the door frame of the house will corrode a bit. The door itself holds up fine. I should note I have not installed any doors in an area having a salt-atmosphere, such as a beach house. I have not experienced anything like you show in your photos.

We are sorry to hear about what happened to the door. The rotting or deterioration of a wood core storm door with reference to the time is dependent on some factors. It may depend on how the door was installed, the environment or the location where the door is installed and how the door is being maintained. These factors contribute to the deterioration of the door. Modesty aside, we also have customers who have wood core doors installed in their homes for more than ten years, and yet their doors are still intact and not showing any sign of deterioration except for the wear and tear issue of some replaceable parts. We would like to assist you with the issue on your storm door. Please contact the Andersen Solution Center at 855-337-8822 from 7:00AM to 6:00PM CST on weekdays and 8:00AM to 5:00PM CST during weekends. Rated 4.0 out of 5 by 87 reviewers.
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Solid door but not square Good construction but not square. The window in the down position would not stay in the track since the track was wider in the middle of the door. The installation was clear but took time to install - about 2 hrs July 8, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by DO NOT BUY THIS DOOR! I bought three of these storm doors in 2008. Two them, which have a northern exposure, are now rotting. They look awful. I have read on several sites about the door itself being replaced under warranty due to rot (the white insides of the door bubbles up on the inside and outside near the bottom of the window - see photos - looks terrible) they were given replacement doors that also rotted. Also the sweep along the bottom of the north facing doors bowed outward after just a couple of years and debris, ice and snow accumulate in them. When I contacted Emco about a warranty for those, they told me those weren't covered under warranty. The doors were professionally installed and had to be custom fitted (cut off at the bottoms) because of the size of the existing doorway, so the installation cost is on me, again. (The third door is under a large porch so is not exposed to much weather.) Emco is Andersen and I am so very disappointed with my purchase. I have never heard or seen a storm door "rotting" before. ABSOLUTELY DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON AN EMCO DOOR. July 1, 2016
