Customer Questions & Answers

the window lock has broken

One side of the window lock has broken so now the window can't stay closed. How do I go about ordering a new part for it
Asked by: Robert
You can't. Besides the next lock will probably break within a few weeks anyway. I hope this helps!

I need a door knob set, to replace the one that is broken, how and where can I purchase one

The handle broke off
Asked by: Thomas
I'd contact Emco directly. I had good luck replacing parts for a door almost 20 years old. The knob/latch parts were not directly replaceable, but the parts the sold me were an upgrade. The fit fine and the door now latches like new. Emco will need the numbers on the 'Emco' sticker - look on the frame piece on the hinge side of the door.

Forever 36IN White Store-in-door Traditional Storm Door

My backdoor going out into my backyard has a 36x78 door opening. I know that the36x80 does not fit my opening. The installer said that it is too long and I would have to get 36x78 door to fit the opening. Is there any Forever Traditional Storm Doors that come in this size? I had the 36x80 installed in my front doorway & I really like this door. Or do you have anything similar that you can suggest that fits my opening.
Asked by: BooBooBear
Buy the 36 x 80 and use a Sawzall to make a nice clean cut on the top. Make sure that the blade is designed to cut storm doors.

The EMCO Forever White Store-in-Door Traditional Storm Door is no longer being manufactured but you may check with Home Depot stores if they still have the door in stock. - Dan

Customer Reviews

36 in. x 80 in. K900 Series White Universal Vinyl Self-Storing Composite Pet Storm Door with Black Hardware is rated 2.6 out of 5 by 61.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Cheap Parts We purchased this door, spending a little bit more because we wanted the convenience of in door storage of the window and screen and the insulating properties. We've been very disappointed with the clips on the storm window - they're plastic - and we've now had to replace them twice because after some time they become brittle in the cold and snap off. Once that happens the window will not stay up AND it fell far enough down into the door to require us to disassemble the door to get it out again. It's extremely frustrating. The catches need to have deeper holes in the door to hook into and the latches need to be made of something other than plastic. I'd look further before I bought this door again.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Quality an abomination - and effectively no waranty at all. We purchased three of these doors at home depot in 2010 and had them professionally installed. The hardware has failed on two of the doors, one of the doors is so badly warped that a mouse could crawl into the gap. On one of the doors the plastic hardware that holds the glass in place has broken, making it usable only with the screen. On the other, a door we almost never use, the glass is separating from the housing. Nothing is covered under waranty after a year. A very expensive door for one year of use. I'm going to take these down and buy the old school wood ones. I really thought for $269 per door which is what I paid I'd get a decent door. Avoid these doors like the plague.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Terrible instructions and broken parts Took 2 people 4 hours to install and then the door knob was broken and wouldn't turn. I called the 800 number supplied and talked to this Asian woman who I could barely understand. I gave her the stock # directly from the recent receipt and she said that that stock # was manufactured in 1982 and they would not honor the warranty even though I had the receipt dated May 5, 2015. What a joke! I had to go online and get the exact item # from the HD site because it wasn't printed anywhere on my receipt. Now I can spend another 20 minutes on hold and hope that the next person who answers speaks English.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from If we had known..... Loved the looks of this door and the material it was made of. Thought it would compliment our new deck we had just installed . Door was fairly easy to install and at first we were happy with it.........until the temperature reached above 80. This happens between 3-7 pm. on our deck. The door swells and we can't close it until the temperature drops down again. Would never recommend this composite material to anyone.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Worst purchase ever The door was not too difficult to install. My problems came months later from use as we started having problems with the screen not staying in place, it seemed loose in its frame and would sag leaving a gap at the top of the door which allowed insects in. The inside handle wore out quickly and when I contacted the manufacturer for the warranty repair of the handle mechanism, they claimed that we needed to provide a serial number or the receipt. There was no serial number where they claimed it to be and the receipt had been tossed after the 90 days for return had passed. Overall I wouldn't recommend this door to my worse enemy much less a close friend.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from heavy but flimsy The wheight of the door will fool you thinking you are getting a good solid door, but it is poorly constructed this door bows and shows a gap where the window and screen slide down into the door. 1/2" plastic stripping that covers the screws was bent and useless had to call for replacement stripping and may take up to 10 days. If you move the door back and forth it shows how flimsy it really is. If my wife had of read these reviews she probably wouldn't have wanted this door. I know that I wouldn't have but didn't see these reviews untile it was too late, guys do yourselves a favour read reviews before purchasing. I will probably end up returnning and taking a loss (restocking fee) due to poor quality. By the way we got the door with black and white hardware and paid the same price. Highly disappointed in this product Thanks for reading, B

Rated 1 out of 5 by from No support for product warranty I emailed and called Anderson (they now own Emco) and they refuse to support the warranty on this door. The EMCO FOREVER door warped and swelled to the point of damaging our door jam. Anderson wrote that the damaged door jam must have been due to wind damage which is not covered. Heat and direct sun cause the door to warp and swell. The lack of clearance due to the swelling caused the closer to crack the wood where it was attached. This is a STORM door, which by definition should withstand the elements.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Forever Door I bought 3 Forever Doors and they swell with the heat, shrink with the cold. Our handle broke and you need to special order for between $65 - $80. So sorry I paid almost $300 each for these doors. Instead of replacing the door handle, I will replace the door! Do not buy Forever Doors...they are a "Forever Headache"!
