Customer Questions & Answers

the window lock has broken

One side of the window lock has broken so now the window can't stay closed. How do I go about ordering a new part for it
Asked by: Robert
You can't. Besides the next lock will probably break within a few weeks anyway. I hope this helps!

I need a door knob set, to replace the one that is broken, how and where can I purchase one

The handle broke off
Asked by: Thomas
I'd contact Emco directly. I had good luck replacing parts for a door almost 20 years old. The knob/latch parts were not directly replaceable, but the parts the sold me were an upgrade. The fit fine and the door now latches like new. Emco will need the numbers on the 'Emco' sticker - look on the frame piece on the hinge side of the door.

Forever 36IN White Store-in-door Traditional Storm Door

My backdoor going out into my backyard has a 36x78 door opening. I know that the36x80 does not fit my opening. The installer said that it is too long and I would have to get 36x78 door to fit the opening. Is there any Forever Traditional Storm Doors that come in this size? I had the 36x80 installed in my front doorway & I really like this door. Or do you have anything similar that you can suggest that fits my opening.
Asked by: BooBooBear
Buy the 36 x 80 and use a Sawzall to make a nice clean cut on the top. Make sure that the blade is designed to cut storm doors.

Customer Reviews

36 in. x 80 in. K900 Series White Universal Vinyl Self-Storing Composite Pet Storm Door with Black Hardware is rated 3.0 out of 5 by 24.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Cheap Parts We purchased this door, spending a little bit more because we wanted the convenience of in door storage of the window and screen and the insulating properties. We've been very disappointed with the clips on the storm window - they're plastic - and we've now had to replace them twice because after some time they become brittle in the cold and snap off. Once that happens the window will not stay up AND it fell far enough down into the door to require us to disassemble the door to get it out again. It's extremely frustrating. The catches need to have deeper holes in the door to hook into and the latches need to be made of something other than plastic. I'd look further before I bought this door again.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Worst purchase ever The door was not too difficult to install. My problems came months later from use as we started having problems with the screen not staying in place, it seemed loose in its frame and would sag leaving a gap at the top of the door which allowed insects in. The inside handle wore out quickly and when I contacted the manufacturer for the warranty repair of the handle mechanism, they claimed that we needed to provide a serial number or the receipt. There was no serial number where they claimed it to be and the receipt had been tossed after the 90 days for return had passed. Overall I wouldn't recommend this door to my worse enemy much less a close friend.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Terrible instructions and broken parts Took 2 people 4 hours to install and then the door knob was broken and wouldn't turn. I called the 800 number supplied and talked to this Asian woman who I could barely understand. I gave her the stock # directly from the recent receipt and she said that that stock # was manufactured in 1982 and they would not honor the warranty even though I had the receipt dated May 5, 2015. What a joke! I had to go online and get the exact item # from the HD site because it wasn't printed anywhere on my receipt. Now I can spend another 20 minutes on hold and hope that the next person who answers speaks English.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Emco forever door with self storing screen I purchased an Emco 3000 series door with self storing screen and did the installation.Three of the screws provided with the door sheared away at the head when using a very low power baby screwdriver and the screws had to be dug out wasting a lot of time. The plating/heat treatment of the screws could be substandard. The Emco door boasts of very high insulation but the design of seals are very poor .The design of the seal which is a furry strip sliding in a groove has no compression property/elasticity and will provide no air seal in winter.Users will have to throw away the seals and replace them with rubber weather strips and innovate. This is not expected from a relatively expensive door and from a manufacturer like Anderson. The paper templetes provided to drill the latch holes somehow gave an offset if you use them on both sides of the door.It would be better to mark and drill from one side. The twin bottom rubber seals /sweeps at the door bottom were not much better than the other door seals and will not provide much sealing. There is a doubt whether the sealing of the retractable self storing glass is any better than the other seals. In general the door is very presentable, however in keeping with the publicity about insulation and energy saving the overall sealing is a let down. Another good feature was a pushbutton on the cylinder to held the door open at any position. A lot of improvements on sealing are necessary to make this door really useful.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not Pleased at all with this product, this time Had the door installed by a professional who does this type of work for a living. I've had the door for less than a year and having a lot of problems with the closure of the door. In extreme cold and extreme heat the door expands and will not close properly. Today the temperature was about 80 degrees and the door expanded about 1/4 of an inch and was impossible to close unless you slammed it real hard, I gave up and left the door open until the temperature dropped. I had two of these doors on my previous home and had no problems like I'm having with this door, that's primarily why I purchased this door again. I've lost complete faith in this EMCO product. Another occurrence I had with the door when trying to enter my home the outside doorknob came of completely, it's a good thing my wife was home to open the door from the inside. If it's at all possible for EMCO to replace this door with a better product or one that is reliable it would be much appreciated. Will look for your reply on the Product Review Detail.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not a Good Buy! This was not one of my better buying decisions. This door is an installation nightmare! In addition, in hot weather the door expands to be larger than the frame and won't close properly.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from If we had known..... Loved the looks of this door and the material it was made of. Thought it would compliment our new deck we had just installed . Door was fairly easy to install and at first we were happy with it.........until the temperature reached above 80. This happens between 3-7 pm. on our deck. The door swells and we can't close it until the temperature drops down again. Would never recommend this composite material to anyone.
