I found out the standard color for bark in my community should be BLACK. I had purchased brown (not knowing this info beforehand) a year ago so decided to dye my bark black. I used the ENVIRO COLOR product (Black Forest) to make the change. I really like the result. The hardest part was it can be messy to use if you are not careful. You need to wear old clothes that you do not plan on wearing again.

Works fine if left un-disturbed. It only coats the top which is visible. Apply as directed when rain is not expected.

Not a dye, more like a paint. Use as directed and it works well, just don't disturb your treated areas. If you kick up the mulch or drag a hose across the treated area it will turn over the mulch, exposing the underside.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Gbartmi Great product to refresh your mulch color!
If you are like me, I have enough mulch in my islands and tree rings, but what I didn't have, is the nice new color. This product delivers. Follow the directions, please read and understand before you open it!
Some very important tips:
1) READ the directions! LOL!
2) Pick a NO wind day - it will possibly blow over everything.
3) Use a one gallon outside garden/landscape pump sprayer - best if it is used only for this purpose.
4) Mix outside, in a mulch area, stable board - wear old clothes, shoes, and rubber gloves (stains).
5) Spray close to the ground, on the mulch.
6) Spray lightly, don't saturate it, you can come back and touch up later, if necessary.
7) Don't walk on freshly sprayed areas. Keep pets away. Turn off water sprinkler for a day.
8) Cleanup carefully with water, flush out the bottle and nozzle/wand completely. If you are going to do more later that day, or the next, it can remain in the mix container, but rinse out the hose and nozzle or it can clog up.
I like it, works well, and after 3 weeks, still looks great.

My black mulch was so gray and dingy looking. I did not feel like going to the store and buying bags of mulch or going to the landscape supply and buy a truck bed full of mulch and then taking hours to put it all down. I thought there had to be a solution so I searched for dyes.
I came across this product. After reading some of the reviews, I was a little skeptical but I decided to try it anyway. I am so glad I did. This was so easy to do. It mixed up well in my sprayer. It sprayed on so easily. It took me less than an hour to do all of my mulch beds. The color was so dark and it looked so nice when I was finished. I am so glad I found this.
It is supposed to rain this week. If it does, I will let you know how the color stood up to the rain.

I ordered this product in hopes that it would "brighten" my dull black lava rocks. The manufacturer had never heard of it being used for that purpose so I gave it a try. I am happy with the results. It didn't bring the rocks back to their original dark black color, but it definitely made a difference in the look of the dulled and greyed rocks.
Be aware - it is a pretty messy endevour! I highly recommend clothes and shoes that can be thrown away afterwards. And be sure to keep every area you do not want colored covered in water and rinsed off immediately after any spillage.
