Customer Questions & Answers

what is the distance between the balusters?

what is the distance between the balusters?
Asked by: Skipper
Hi Skipper. The distance between the balusters is 3-3/4". This railing exceeds all national/local code requirements. Also, you can install intermediary balusters simply by drill additional fastener holes. This is quite common to create a "puppy barrier". Call or email us at 573.365.7085, support@ezhandrail.com for more information. Thank you for your consideration, Dan H. (EZ Handrail Dev. Team)

HOW DOES THIS WORK AS A HANDRAIL FOR YOUR STAIRS? WILL IT ANGLE TO ALLOW FOR THIS TYPE OF APPLICATION OR IS THERE A DIFFERENT KIT FOR STAIRS?
Asked by: Pack
This kit can also be utilized for stair runs by miter cutting each baluster to the slope (angle) of your stairs. For example, if the stair run is 34 degrees, cut the top and bottom of each baluster at 34 degrees prior to assembly. You will also want to purchase the EZ Pivot Mount Kit (EZPMB) which includes four pivot brackets to attach the angled top and bottom rails to the posts or walls. This is an advanced DIY or contractor stair rail solution. It also is one of the strongest aluminum stair rail solutions on the market. It code compliant for both residential and commercial (42") applications. Thank you for your consideration, Dan H. (EZ Handrail Dev Team)

Does it come with End posts for mounting on a concrete ramp?

Does it come with End posts for mounting on a concrete ramp?
Asked by: Joe
Hi Joe, This kit does not include any posts because it commonly is installed into existing systems where posts are present (e.g. wood, columns, etc.). For concrete ramps I recommend shimming our color matched EZ Posts (EZPRBZ-W) and Base Cover (EZBCBZ-LP). If the ramp is at the ADA compliant 1-12 slope (4.7 deg.) the included top and bottom rail mounting brackets will provide enough vertical "play" to fasten securely. For ramps steeper than 1-12 (4.7 deg.) you will want to purchase the EZ Pivot Mount Kit (EZPMB) which includes (4) two-piece pivoting brackets for mounting the top and bottom rails to the posts. As always, you we are happy to discuss your project in detail at 573.365.7085 or support@ezhandrail.com. Thank you for your consideration, Dan H. (EZ Handrail Dev. Team)

Straight runs are extremely easy. Stairs are more challenging and require all balusters to be cut at the stair angle. Invest in a chop saw and blade to cut aluminium; $140 compared to $1000's for railing is totally worth it. Also, there is an online recommendation for the 3x3 posts, take it. I purchased posts near 2-3" taller, because it wasn't clear what the railing dimensions really were. I may end up chopping 3" off the post's top to give a more uniform appearance. Someone else recommended an additional screw to hold the railing to the post mounts. If you do this, do it only on one side; thermal expansion can rip your deck apart.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good American made product The railings were put on a second floor roof deck 7'x18'x7', no stairs, and it took two people all day. They were pretty easy to cut to length and assemble, but be warned, you should download the newest instructions from the manufacturer website as the ones that came in the box were incorrect in a couple of details. 1. Holes to anchor the posts to the deck bracket should not be drilled one above the other at 3/4" and 1 1/4". There is not enough room to use washers and the bolt heads nearly touch. The downloaded instructions describe the bolts as installed at 90% to each other. A more secure approach. 2. Railing mounts do not have bolt holes in the casting to secure the railing to the mount. The only predrilled holes secure the mount to the post. They should be drilled and the railing screwed to the mount also, so the railings do no float between the posts.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice looking but not so EZ Nice looking when finished but took a lot of assembly. Posts come separate and several of welded plates were bent and had to be straightened. Angles are tricky and require separate hardware. Strongly recommend using a power miter saw with good fine tooth blade. Instructions not so clear - need more info on post-rail assembly on stairs and odd angles.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quality USA Made Product Product material and craftsmanship are outstanding. The material has strength and style. It was packed well and arrived in a very short time. It was easy to install and the instructions were easy to follow. I would purchase more of this product in a heartbeat.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Misleading The picture show the posts on either end, however when the part was shipped we learned that these NEEDED parts are not included. VERY VERY VERY misleading. This was ordered online then we had to drive over 50 miles to return it to the store to find they don't even carrry these parts. Very, very, very poor.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Bronze REALLY???? This handrail is not bronze!! It would better be described as a charcoal or deep gray. Maybe they labeled the box wrong, but beware!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exceeded Expectations This purchase exceeded my expectations. I was looking for a rust-resistant solution to my balcony railing. This product shipped quickly, was very easy to install, and looks great. You can find cheaper options, but I think this was worth the money.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not the Best The Instructions aren't very good the Docs told me to use a 3/4 Concrete drill bit but you have two different size concrete screws. The system is ok also long as you use it for straight ways and no Stairs. They call EZ but you will have to do a lot of angle cutting for pickets and railing top and bottom if use it for stairs. None of the Wholes line up . I bought a similar system from 84 Lumber 4 years ago and it was much better.
