Frequently Bought Together

Product Overview

The EZ Screen Room Kit contains all the components required to frame and screen an existing 8 ft. wide x 10 ft. tall (or smaller) opening. This kit is best utilized when framed between existing deck posts or walls. Please note, an existing ceiling or roof is required. Using multiple kits together, you can quickly build a screen room for hours of outdoor relaxation without insects and other pests. The screen wall frame is constructed using an extruded aluminum channel secured to your existing wood posts or concrete walls using the included fasteners. After constructing the screen frame, fiberglass screen material is rolled and locked into the frame's channels with flat spline. The flat spline locking technology ensures your screen stays in place even in the windiest environments.

  • Includes high quality phifer pool and patio screen with an 18 x 14 mesh for large openings
  • Aluminum extrusions are easily cut onsite with a miter or circular saw with a standard 60-80 tooth wood blade
  • Requires screen spline rolling tool with rounded wheel. Recommend ez roller (part no ezsrsrdeh)
  • Powder coat finish with 10-year warranty
  • Available in white and bronze
  • Perfect color match with ez handrail aluminum railing system
  • Compatible with most screen doors

Answer:
There is one 8' 2x2 Post included in the kit. This 8'x10' kit is intended to be installed with an 8' max width and 10' tall max height. The 10' height is achieved by splitting the vertical perimeter 1x2's with the horizontal 2x2 ("chair rail") usually at 36". This creates a "H" configuration where the horizontal piece touches both sides of the existing structure and the 1x2's are cut to fit in between. Read More

The reason for this design is so that the kits will ship on UPS and FedEx small parcel service. As you suggest if your are wanting to span 10' widths or greater, an additional 2x2x8' post is necessary.

Are the outside corners to be mitered at a 45 degree angle to allow the spline and screen go around the corner? If so, what is done at the mid-rail to achieve this same result?

Answer:
Although mitering the corners will work, our recommended method of installation is to butt the corners as shown in our instructions and installed photos. The spline ends at the corner and then another piece is applied into the next extrusion.

Customer Reviews

Rated 4.0 out of 5 by 1 reviewer.
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Fills the need Used this product to complete a screened porch. The porch has 6x6 PT timbers on 6ft spacing to hold the roof. Installed this product between the posts. Turned out a very nice installation. Pros: The screen tightens very nicely, there are no waves even with 6 ft by 6 ft clear openings. The screen is easy to install once you get the hang of it. My PT posts warped, but the 1x2 ez screen open back channel bends enough to accommodate the wood movement. The overall installation looks very nice. The 2 x 2 box channel and the L clips make for a surprisingly strong installation. Ordered online and received it shipped to my home crazy fast. Had to return one excess unit, went to the local Home Depot and they took it no problem. Cons: By the end of the project, I had placed three separate orders for either the full section kits or just additional 1x2 or 2x2 shapes. The last two shipments of shapes, the ends of the boxes were wet and a couple of the shapes were damaged at the ends. Luckily with the dimensions I needed, I was cutting off the ends anyway. They apparently try real hard to wrap and protect the material for shipping, but don't expect the finish to be flawless. They provide plenty of fasteners and screen, so you should not have any shortages. I would be nice if they provided Stainless Steel fasteners for use in PT wood (as they recommend). I was unable to separately find SS fasteners painted to match, so I just used what was provided and am hoping for the best. Working with aluminum is a little time consuming - I used a DeWalt chop saw which cut very nicely, but then I had to hand file the ends to remove burr material. August 2, 2014
