Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by GtAvalanche Great idea, but doesn't work w/ 5/4 decking treads
I had never built stairs before so I bought the EZ Stairs brackets, composite cleats, and spacers.
The EZ Stairs brackets are heavy duty and have a nice paint job on them. They probably work well with 2x12's for treads.
However, I wanted to use the same 5/4 decking for the stairs to match the deck. The brackets are only 7 1/4", or so, long, and would only support the second tread by 1-2". So this product did not work for me in this application. I returned it and got a refund.
Code requires treads to be a minimum of 9" deep (or 10" w/ a 1" nosing) and risers to be a maximum of 8 1/4" tall.
I would spend your money on a framing square instead and watch a video or two about how to build stairs.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by frustrated does not work for some rise and run combinations
I was building stairs to overhead shop storage that was on a 50% rise angle, called EZ stair to see if it would work, they assured me it would. It didn't and the gauge would not adjust to that is spite of the EZ stair calculator program showing it would. If you are in the normal household stairs range fine if not it is just a box of brackets.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by HandyBuilder EZ Stairs is a smart way to build stairs.
I have 150+ decks in the field using the EZ stair system and now do not build stairs any other way. What started as me offering a better alternative as an upgrade, quickly turned into incorporating it into a standard feature of my deck package. The first set you finish, get in the middle of it and give it a little bounce, you will feel why it is the best stair system on the market.

I've never built stairs before, and this product made it quite easy. The first stringer took a little while, but once I got the hang of it, the second one went quicker. Less cuts to make with this system. The stairs are rock solid, and they look great! Definitely worth it!

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by GDiaz Solid and heavy
First time stair builder - watched the video, followed the directions - pretty easy - however 4 steps, 42 inches wide is pretty heavy for one person to handle. I used Kreg pocket screws to attach the treads to the risers instead of nailing/screwing through the tread as directed.
Looks great - feels SOLID.
