I am going to dye my floors with Eagle dye and then put the Eagle water based sealer on do I have to neutralize the floor after I dye it?

Asked by: Dolly
You do not need to neutralize your floors after using Eagle Dye. Only after using acid stain.

How slippery is finish when wet or with snow. And is product effected by extreme temperatures.

I live in Fairbanks, AK. Temperatures range from 90 F (summer) to -50 (winter). The walk I would like to treat is outside under overhanging roof. I am concerned about slippery product in winter when snow drifts on top. Whether the product is effected be extreme cold. If the product does make it slippery, how does the acid stain effect the concrete if it is not sealed afterward?

i live in Oregon and i applied this right at the beginning of the rainy season. I did use an anti-slip product that one mixes directly into the can (you have to apply the sealer with a roller, if you use do this). I'd recommend you'd add this product to the sealer, if it's on an area like a driveway (like mine).

Before or after paint?

I am planning to pour a concrete slab for a patio/hot tub area, and would like to paint the concrete. Do I use this sealer first, before painting? Thank you!
Asked by: Jen
Definitely apply this sealer after you paint or stain your concrete. If you put this on before, your paint or stain won't penetrate the concrete and will be likely to peel off.

I would recommend mopping it on with a microfiber pad as opposed to spraying it. Spraying left a texture that wasn't what I was going for so I went over it again with a microfiber pad and turned out much nicer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Product Went on easy and looked great - I applied this to the driveway that had been stained. Nice glossy finish. It's only been a few days, but already after a heavy rain storm it's looking good. Will have to wait and see how it maintains over the Winter.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Easy DIY water cleanup. Overall happy. It came in a paint bucket instead of the jar pictured. This was a good thing because it made application easier. I could dip the brush directly into the product. It is very thin like water. I used 3/4ths of the gallon to cover approximately 100 square sfeet and thought I would have to order a second gallon for the second coat, but the first coat just soaks in more. I finished the second coat with 1/4 of the can, although I used a brush instead of a roller to make it go further and did not try to give the grout a second coat. I could have used another 1/4 gallon but did not want to spend the extra money. I did like the product. It cleans up with water. Once it cured, the cement pavers appear"waterproof" as water beads up on them. They don't have the wet look I wanted although they are a little darker. Maybe another gallon would give them a shine? Some pavers look blotchy even with an extra thick second coat where I was trying to cover the areas that looked like I had missed on the first coat. It wasn't a coverage issue, but could be that the pavers vary in composite consistency. The pavers are from the other big box home store. I chose them for the red and purple grays that went with a granite wall behind the new patio. I learned that this product does not cover blemishes in the floor. It goes on milky purple and dries clear, so if you have imperfections in the concrete beforehand, this product does not hide anything, but it may prevent further staining. I had a contractor tell me to use urethane on my carport after I grind off the old paint because it is exposed to the weather. I can see how the urethane would protect a stain on bare concrete and not have hot tire issues. It soaks into the concrete. Preparation of the surface would be paramount. That's my next project and I will be researching to be sure this product is right for that job. Is there's other urethane product I should know about? This seems to be what the contractor was referring to but I am not certain. 4/5 stars because I didn't get the wet look I expected even though I am not sure it didn't have something to do with the quality of the pavers.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from First Layer Really Soaked In I used this product after neutralizing the acid stain on my floors. I bought two gallons to use on 400 sq ft. I got worried when I had to stretch the first gallon to make it all the way across. Apparently only the first layer really soaks in. Once it was sealed, the next two layers went on very thin.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Eagle Armor Seal Eagle Armor Seal worked excellent on my newly acid stained concrete. I was in a quandary whether to buy a mineral based high gloss product or this water based matt finish product. The mineral based sealer will look like the concrete does when it is wet (darker more vivid) and the water based sealer will look like the concrete does when it is damp (more muted but nice). The product went on well with no roller marks when it was dry. It was glossier than I expected. Very pleased overall but only down 1 month- long term I do not know.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Thin coats required Easy to apply, sprayed on the sealer and back rolled with a 1/2" nap roller keeping each coat VERY thin. If you apply this sealer thick in any areas it will haze. This is a property of all acrylic sealers. The finish is more satin than gloss. I chose not to apply a second coat since there were some areas that were thicker than others and I did not want to chance fracturing or haze in the top coat. Excellent product. Will use again when I seal my sidewalk/driveway. Can't speak yet to the durability since it was just recently applied.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Sealer for Acid-Stained Concrete This sealer was easy to apply with sprayer and provided a low-sheen, durable finish that helped improve and darken the acid-stain color.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from GREAT!!! This product is easy to apply. Works better by applying with a paint roller versus the spray bottle, as it does not self stabalize. 2 costs works best. Was a little concerned when i first put it on. I stained my floors a dark rustic color, so when it went on it looked purple. No worries, within a minute or so it was clear.
