Customer Questions & Answers

How many feet will a gallon cover using two coats

Asked by: AD
It varies greatly depending on the porosity of the surface. On a smooth-trowelled garage floor in good condition, a gallon was plenty for 300 sq ft. On a porous carport with some chloride damage, 100 sq. ft./gallon has worked well (rainwater puddles on the surface, and concrete remains dry), but it seems like it would have absorbed as much as I was willing to apply.

Will this product help to reduce the amount of dust from my concrete garage floor?

The floor is ten years old. I sealed it when I installed it but now it is starting to create a lot of dust.
Asked by: Tom
It does not, in my experience. This product soaks into the pores, and completely disappears from the surface, once it is dry. A surface coating would be a better choice to reduce dust - - but make sure to clean and vacuum it thoroughly first.

I used a different sealant on my concrete basement floors and it is peeling off. I was told to try this brand. Do I need to somehow remove the previous sealant before applying this? or can i just roll it over the current peeling sealant? Any thoughts are much appreciated!
Asked by: spurloo
You need to remove 100% of the old sealant, not only what's peeling, but also anything that is still bonded to the concrete. This product is made to soak into the pores of the concrete, and disappear. To the extent the old sealant is still present, the new sealant will simply puddle on top and be wasted.

Is there much prep work for this product? Please describe the preparation required. Thank you.

Asked by: Ted
I applied it 2 years ago on an outdoor concrete carport, with no prep other than hosing it down, and it seems to have worked well. But there was no mold or oil spots whatsoever - - if there were, pressure washing would be a must.

It is a thin watery liquid and applies easily using a one-gallon manual pump sprayer. It made for a fast job. It is early yet to know how it holds up. I used it on some MSI honey oak ledgerboard stone veneer. It is invisible once dried.

Worked well on our pool patio in south Florida that consists of brick-like stone laid down many years ago. Easy to apply with a roller and effectiveness readily apparent from the puddles remaining after rain storms.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from excellent value for a penitrating sealer Easy to put on. I used a paint brush because it was not a large area, they recommend a garden sprayer. Water clean up makes it easy to use. Water beads on the concrete.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So far so good First year applied it to the sidewalk. When rains, it protects the cement surface, no water leakage as compared to the ones not applying the product. It will last for two years for the protection as the manual says - that's the only cons.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Mostly Water The price looked good at first, but when I read the spec sheet the silane/siloxane concentrations were only 5%-8% and the rest was dihydrogen monoxide (aka water!). On a per active ingredient basis I would choose the S-40 (40%) instead. This product did work as advertised, but I fear I will have to reapply in a few years due to its diluted levels.
