is it tackey or like water

i had some that was like water and it didnt seem to have a lasting finish l liked the tacky type
Asked by: n8bmz
Somewhere in the middle - water like enough to be used with a sprayer, but thick enough to know it's going to do an awesome job.

Is this product self leveling?

Is this product self leveling?
Asked by: Barthead
Yes,as it is a very liquid product, not quite like water but not a syrup like liquid either. I used a 1/2" nap roller with excellent results. Note that this product is for the old "river rock" surface normally found on patios and sidewalks in Florida, thus the surface is flat so that is it will seep down into the small pebble crevices in addition to the top of the stones, giving a high gloss finish.

Can this be used on wood

Looking for something thick and clear to cover my deck
Asked by: eddie
No, this product is specifically formulated for chattahoochee a/k/a "river rock" stones. In my opinion it would not work well on wood. FYI: "river rock" was a popular surface in Florida in the 1980/90's. River rock usually consists of fine (1/4th" diameter) stones initially applied in an epoxy mix applied over fresh concrete approximately 3/8th thick for patios and/or sidewalks around homes.. The product here in question is for routine maintenance in keeping the stones intact since it works a bit like epoxy and provide a shiny to semi shiny surface appearance, making the river rock look like new.

Use on pea gravel

I was searching for a way to seal a pea gravel walkway and this product was mentioned. Obviously I cannot use a roller and was wondering if anyone knew if I could use something like a watering can or sprayer to spread this on the walkway.
Asked by: hhistone
YES YES YES!!! That is exactly what we used it on and it sealed it like a charm. We did put 2 layers on to ensure that no rocks were going to be popping off, but yes, this stuff works great for pea gravel!! Sprayer is the method we used and it worked great - definitely the best method for applying to loose rock.

Customer Reviews

5 gal. Clear High Gloss Oil Based Acrylic Chattahoochee Sealer is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 9.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Easiest way to go I went through two gallons that I purchased at my local HD. It barely made it around my pool. I ordered 10 gallons of this to be delivered and had to wait for a few dry days to apply it. It was so much easier using the 5 gallon jug with its pour spout. I rolled it over my pebble deck and it covered nicely. Immediate and lasting shine really brought some life back to the flooring. I resealed the second container and expect to finish my entranceway when I return to Florida next month.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works fine, but be forwarned! Good price, its a little thin, but does the job. It seems to get harder and harder to find sealer as everyone has pretty much gotten rid of Chattahoochee stone patios in favor of pavers. And if you want to hire to seal someone to do it, good luck. I know many people who have pavers, and the maintenance is much more work if you keep up with your stone patio and don't let it get in really bad condition. It should be maintained every year. The one caveat I have about this product is the descriptions says it covers 1000 sq feet. It DOES NOT cover 1000 sq feet of Chattahoochee stone. For that it is rated 100 sq per gallon. The 1000 sq foot coverage is for other hard non porous surface application. This is misleading, so make sure you purchase enough. If you have not sealed your stone in many years and it's in bad shape I would figure even less coverage, perhaps, 50 sq a gallon. So clean the surface good and apply enough product or your basically wasting your time and money.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exactly what we were hoping! Our pearock walkway went from spraying rocks all over every time we stopped on it, to a solid sealed walkway that looks beautiful. GREAT product and was exactly what we were looking for not to simply waterproof the walk way, but to really seal those rocks under a good topcoat.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good coverage, no smell and easy to apply. The sealer worked well, giving me enough coverage for a 15'x 40' patio and area around pool. I was able to get a second coat. I used a 1" roller, so it took a little longer. You need to make sure that the surface is DRY or it will turn hazy. There was not much odor associated with the product. This product was a great value, since I was able to get it delivered free of charge.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Serves the purpose ! It's thin and it will gloss. If you are looking for a thick gloss this brand is not for you, but if you have sealed it before this serves the purpose . The trick here is how long it will last .. UV rays usually peel away the sealent after some months. This is why it's best it's a thin coat and it should last as it should for 2 years or so. The product is smooth and easy to apply and not sticky and messy at all.
