1/2 in. x 18 in. Flexible Auger Style Cable Installer Bit with 3/16 in. Diameter Shank is rated 3.6 out of 5 by 8.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very useful but can be hard to use I bought this drill bit to route electrical wires in a ceiling for a lighting project. For the most part, it worked very well, and made the task possible. However, it's not easy to steer it, and I did once come up through the floor above! Not a problem, as it's old carpet we're going to replace with laminate flooring one day. This drill bit is well made, and the little hole that lets you pull a fish wire back is very useful. I used a bent paper clip and a length of plastic string that's meant for a weed eater. :)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good bit! Bought this for a great price, delivered free at my local store! First time using anything like this and I was skeptical but it worked fantastic through base plates in two locations. Fished wires right through the back hole in the bit. Very convenient and hole size is perfect for a TV cable. Highly recommended!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice bit I liked the design of this auger style drill bit. It's a neat tool to help snake wire. It's flexible, and can go into a wall and up through top plates in a wall. I'm not the best at using it yet, but I anticipate I'll get better at it with more use. It's well made, and so far has stood up to a nail or two without too much damage. I'm not the average user, in that if I ding a cutting edge, I can regrind it, myself. All in all, I recommend it if you need one. This one will likely last a while.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from great idea, but the 3/16" shank snapped on first use First time I used this the shank snapped. I was trying to drill from a cut out in the wall through the bottom plate (12" from floor to bottom of wall cut out). I had the drill clutch set half way and worked my way up to find the spot were it wouldn't activate the clutch. It started fine and I knew I wasn't hitting any nails or metal and the bit caught, shaft bent/twisted and before I could let go of the trigger the shank snapped in half. I guess I can file the end down and keep using it, but if it breaks once it will break again. Caution when using this flex auger!!!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Broke after 1 minute of drilling The drill bit snapped off the flexible cable after 1 minute of drilling and was irretrievably lost inside the dry wall. An alternative that worked for me was a baseboard level hole drilled at an angle through the floor with the baseboard removed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A perfect hole every time I used this to drill holes in 4x4's that lined my driveway so I could reinforce them with rebar. It worked perfectly. We could drill several pieces of lumber at a time so lining up the holes was easier.
