9/16 in. x 24 in. Flexible Screw Point Cable Installer Bit with 3/16 in. Diameter Shank is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 10.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Snake This bit can be a bit unwieldy to handle because it is long (you need enough room clearance to comfortably operate), but it works well to maneuver through blind cavities. As others have commented, it has the right balance of rigidity and flexibility to reach the target area for drilling effectively. I experienced no drag or stoppage when drilling, as I sometimes got when using a spade bit for instance. The holes in the tip were great to use for fishing, after the hole was completed, making it unnecessary to jerry-rig a line using electrical tape. This is a well-thought out tool design. It is awkward to store this bit, but if you do a fair amount of remodeling involving wiring/CATV/Ethernet, this is a valuable tool to have.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from These bits are a lifesaver... For anyone who needs to run wiring through existing walls, these bits are irreplaceable for getting the job done without having to damage or deconstruct things. The augur tip is aggressive enough to start and pull the bit into the work without much effort, which is important at the end of the flexible shaft that drives it. The shaft is quite flexible, yet it is rigid enough to easily guide the bit to the desired location, even when working "blind". The hole just behind the tip allows easy connecting and pulling of a fish tape or line. The bit cuts well and seems to retain its edge, even after hard use.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from GREAT PRODUCT AND A MAJOR TIME SAVER This screw point cable installer drill bit works flawlessly and is a real time saver. The shaft has just the right flex to it and the screw point feeds into wood at a steady speed without binding up, while also making a nice clean hole. I tested out bit by drilling thru two 2x6 floor joists to run cable TV coaxial cable across floor and up wall. A second Ethernet connection on wall in home office had to be added so I stuck drill bit into original outlet box hole and drilled holes thru 2x4's to second location, connected Ethernet cable to hole in tip of drill bit and pulled wire thru holes in 2x4's. I connected cable to wall plates at both locations and finished installation.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Long lasting, clean drilling, versatile cable installer bit The Eagle Tool 9/16’’ x 54’’ flexible cable installer bit has worked well thus far. The threaded pilot tip grabs material and feeds the rest of the bit into the material. The bit itself has a good balance of rigidity and flexibility allowing for clean drilling and accurate guidance. Holes have drilled cleanly and the bit is still functional after drilling several holes through ceiling joists and wall plates. Once holes are drilled removing the bit from the drill and attaching cable to back of the bit makes for an easy fishing job. I would definitely recommend this bit to anyone running / retrofitting cabling into any structure.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fits the need I used this to run wires for recessed lights. At one point I used this bit to go through 3 floor joists in the ceiling eliminating the need to knock out access holes. I was able to only drill the holes in the ceiling for the recessed lights and used this bit to go hole to hole resulting it no need for patching. The bit also has a small hole through the drilling portion which you can hook the 14/2 wiring to and then pull the bit and the wire through the drilled holes. Using this $42 bit saved me $1200 that the electrician quoted to install the lights.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works great! In the past I purchased a different brand installer bit that I didn't even get to make one full hole before the screw tip broke making the bit useless. This Eagle Tools bit is holding up great after making a few holes. It has good flexibility to get it into a standard size single gang hole and the screw bit grabs on strong, feeding the bit through the framing. There are two small holes, one at the tip and one at the back of the shaft, that you can use to attach your cable to feed it through the hole using the bit. Wrap the cable through the hole then use tape to secure it and you can use the bit as a fishing rod. It's much easier to attach the cables to the back of the shaft than to the tip because with the tape on the tip it's very difficult to squeeze it back through the hole without knocking the tape off. If you use the back of the bit, it goes through easy. These bits aren't cheap but they save so much time and effort if you have to run wiring through an existing wall. With this 9/16" diameter bit you should be able to get about: 7 - Cat3 2P, Cat3 4P or Cat5 4P or 4 - Cat5 6P or Cat5e 4P or 3 - Cat6e 4P or RG59 coax 1 - RG6 Quad Sheild (but a 3/8" or 1/2" bit would also do a single RG6 quad sheild coaxial) For non metallic sheathed cable (Romex) you should be able to get up to 2 10/2 or thinner gauge or 1 10/3 or thinner. Double check with your actual cable sizes and local codes but the above should give you some idea of what you can fit through a 9/16" hole.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice for fishing wires to inaccessible areas Needed to run a wire to a thermostat I was replacing. Needed to have a common wire when i didn't have one. This worked out nice that i only needed to put one hole the drywall and small enough to make it an easy patch. It drilled through old framing pretty easily. I don't know how it will hold up is you hit a nail. It has a hole in the tip to help snake the wire. There was a little whip in it when drilling but if you go a little slow its not dangerous. getting started is awkward but once started it's easy going. The only downside is it's not the easiest thing to store.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great product This drill worked very well overall. The screw style tip pulls the drill into the wood quickly. However I did find once the screw exited the other side of the wood the drill lost momentum and it took longer to bore through the last part of the wood. There is some minimal tear out on the back side of the wood but the hole itself is fairly clean. Once through the wood you can attach your wires to the drill and pull them through the hole. Overall a welcome addition to my cabling toolset
