Customer Questions & Answers

where do you connect it?

I assume it must link the barrels by connecting in the back of them since that is the only place that is flat to get a proper seal. I would prefer linking them from the front but it is curved.

My barrels sit side by side mount a little higher in second barrel my barrels are round. Have had no leak in linking. Read direction

Where can I get a valve kit?

I have one barrel attached with DIY kit, but would like to link a 2nd barrel. I am considering this linking kit. But I would need to get a valve for the bottom. Or is it better to put the linking hose at the bottom?
Asked by: Im1Me
Users can either link from the top (as our linking kit does) or some have designed a linking at the bottom using other hardware. Our linking kit should have all the parts needed to link two Rainstations at the top. Linking from the top, the second barrel will begin collecting water once the first barrel is filled. Linking from the bottom will fill both barrels one water has reaching the point of linking. Hope this helps.

Linking from bottom - what extra HW needed

In your answer you say linking from bottom needs extra HW. Can you elaborate why and what extra HW would be needed? Thanks.

The easiest connection would be a short length of garden hose with female hose connectors on both ends. A washing machine hose will also work, but keep in mind this will link the barrels but you will not be able to use the drains to access water! EarthMinded has a new item that should be available in 1-2 weeks (mid-March 2016); a bottom linking kit. It includes the hose and a high flow "Y" valve which replaces one of the bottom drains so you can attache a hose and drain both barrel at once. Regards, the EarthMinded team

Rain Barrel Linking Kit is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 16.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect small rain barrel Because of space limitations, it was difficult to find barrels that fit under the deck of our house. This barrel was just the right size while still holding 50 gals. We connected 3 of them to the downspout easily with the additional kit. I am more than pleased and will probably buy a couple more before the rains begin.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from does the job I was linking two barrels with this kit. They direct you to link them at the top, probably because the rubber grommets and linking pipe aren't threaded or particularly tight. If you link them at the top, you loose all advantage of linking them and will need two spigots to be able to empty both barrels (I had only gotten one barrel diverter kit--and buying two would have given me lots of extra parts). I linked them at the bottom (risking a drip which would drain both barrels). I did smear some silicone caulk on both sides of the grommets. So far so good (2 weeks with 2 full barrels). Next time I might just get two spigots and "Y" diverter to screw onto the spigot on one barrel and link them with a short piece of hose.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent product, great price! This companion kit to the rain barrel kit made it easy to link two rain barrels together. I've been able to build a multi-barrel system using these parts, it was very easy and it works great. Saves a lot of money too-I don't need to use city water (very expensive- we get charged separately for water and sewer by the state, and now the city is billing us for water too-3 payments for the same utility!) to keep my garden growing. Thanks!
