I assume it must link the barrels by connecting in the back of them since that is the only place that is flat to get a proper seal. I would prefer linking them from the front but it is curved.

Answer:
The key is to install the linking kit at the fill line, so it overflows into the next container. The curve would not present much of an issue as long as you are not linking well below the water line.

Answer:
The easiest connection would be a short length of garden hose with female hose connectors on both ends. A washing machine hose will also work, but keep in mind this will link the barrels but you will not be able to use the drains to access water! I have one barrel attached with DIY kit, but would like to link a 2nd barrel. I am considering this linking kit. But I would need to get a valve for the bottom. Or is it better to put the linking hose at the bottom?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A very good fan The fan is very nice looking. It is very quit for moving that much air. All you to do is screw on the base to set up.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect small rain barrel Because of space limitations, it was difficult to find barrels that fit under the deck of our house. This barrel was just the right size while still holding 50 gals. We connected 3 of them to the downspout easily with the additional kit. I am more than pleased and will probably buy a couple more before the rains begin.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from does the job I was linking two barrels with this kit. They direct you to link them at the top, probably because the rubber grommets and linking pipe aren't threaded or particularly tight. If you link them at the top, you loose all advantage of linking them and will need two spigots to be able to empty both barrels (I had only gotten one barrel diverter kit--and buying two would have given me lots of extra parts). I linked them at the bottom (risking a drip which would drain both barrels). I did smear some silicone caulk on both sides of the grommets. So far so good (2 weeks with 2 full barrels). Next time I might just get two spigots and "Y" diverter to screw onto the spigot on one barrel and link them with a short piece of hose.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Rain barrel inking kit works great Perfect kit to link multiple rain barrels. This kit comes with the drill bit included which made it simple to install. Instructions were right on target. Will definitely buy another when I add a third barrel.
