Very glad I purchased this as it's my first attempt at using rainwater in my back garden. I was so tired of filling gallon jugs from the sink and pulling a 100-ft. hose to the back. I did buy the mosquito prevention tablets after the first several days as I could see tiny little bugs flying around when I lifted off the top for my first inspections. We did put the water barrel on a raised hard plastic platform so it wouldn't sink into the ground. This helps to raise the faucet and the hose connection a bit also. No problems with overflow. Guess I'll see how it holds up during the first winter but as I got it on sale and with free (fast) shipping, I'm really happy with it.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Matt Awesome Rain Barrel!
I set this rain barrel up the day before a storm and I was thoroughly impressed! After just one rain storm in Lansing, MI, this barrel filled to the diverter level as designed. I couldn't be more pleased with it. I set it up on two cinder blocks which set on pavers. The installation instructions were really easy to follow and included everything necessary. The spout is made of cheaper plastic, but no leaks so far. I have a full length hose with sprayer attached, but there's just not enough water pressure to be useful. Will need a shorter hose for it to be effective. Overall, very impressed. I bought it on a Daily Deal day. Otherwise, I think I'd pass as it was still expensive in my opinion, but will get a lot of great use as my garden is going in right next to it.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Sanders Good barrel, didn't use the diverter
I live on the top floor of an apartment building, and didn't want to drill into anything to install the diverter. However, the included pieces and instructions appeared of very good quality, and I kept them for future uses. The barrel itself seems well-made, the including faucet attachment fits snugly. If you're keeping it on the ground level and using the bottom spout hole for the faucet, I'd recommend turning the faucet 90deg so the hose doesn't kink, but I'd definitely recommend raising the entire thing to get better water pressure if watering over long distances.

Great product! Easy to unpack and put to use. Comes with the tools needed for drilling the holes for set up and very simple and easy to understand instructions.
The only thing I wish was a little different was that the rain barrel top was a little deeper so that when it is inverted you can put in plants that require more depth for their root system.

Overall, it's fairly easy to install and looks nice with the flowers we put on top. We put ours in this weekend, so we will see how it holds up.

This package has all the parts and tools (except a screwdriver) you need to make it work, and the first rainfall filled it with no leaks. The directions were easy to follow and complete. I had to cut a hole in my wood fence, but by measuring carefully and checking with a level, I made it work. The downspout diverter is an outstanding design because you don't have to cut with a hacksaw, and it removes for the winter, the hole covered with a supplied part.
There are a few things to use extra care on. After drilling thru the barrel as directed, take time to remove the burr left by the drill and smooth the edges a little. Perhaps this is why some of the commenters had trouble with leaks. Make everything perfectly level and recheck as you go along. Be aware that the tube connecting the downspout to the barrel is not that long, so the barrel needs to be fairly close.
And the bonus is the large planter lid, what a way to brighten up the whole project!

It was easy to install and is full of water but the spigot stopped working after the first 2 weeks. It does look flimsy. The planter top is a nice feature but does not quite fit - too big. I will be contacting the company for replacement parts.
