Rated 2.3 out of 5 by 4 reviewers.
Rated 1 out of 5 by not so good this is my second chainsaw. First was a Wild Thing and the oiler stopped working after very little use....(guessing the plastic cog inside failed as noted by many other reviews)This started easy and cut great. Restarting when hot very tough. Within the first hour, when the chain would bind, engine would shut off and there was no restarting. It would attempt to start, then just shut off. Did the same thing the next day. took it back to Home Depot and they refunded no problem. Bought a RYOBI from Home Depot....cant wait to try it. September 19, 2011
Rated 1 out of 5 by Bad Saw Had Poulan 14" - cut about 7 cords a year for 16 problems but small and now tired. Upgraded to Earthquake 16" 41cc Viper. Got a new gas can, bar oil, etc. First time it started nice. By 3rd tankful it was very hard to start. Cut a finger and bruised other hand trying to get it started. By 4th tankful had to take to shop as it would no longer keep running. Also gas filter keeps popping up so you can't cut with saw in several positions. Don't waste your time or money on this saw. Rated 2 out of 5 by NOT SO GREAT Chainsaw ran and cut fine the first day but after that the saw would not stay running during a cut. Returning for refund. March 22, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Cuts like a saw twice its price I haven't had this chainsaw long, but I read the instructions through completely as advised, assembled the saw just as described in the video on Earthquake's support site, slightly adjusted the chain oil level, and went to work on about 9 pine trees that had threatened to demolish my fence after the first snow this winter. The trees I cut were as small as a couple inches in diameter to as big as 5 and a half inches. That's not a tough task, but I have to admit, this saw cut them down so easily and quickly, it made me wonder why I second-guessed myself for not buying a more traditional name brand. I've borrowed chainsaws for just this sort of work on many occasions. I've used 3 different well-known brands. I admit up front that since I borrowed them, it's safe to assume each of those were older and used, but this saw far outperformed those, and I could not be more happy with my purchase! Also-- Read that manual. It's not long and it covers everything a casual user like me would need to know. The video is especially helpful, not just for assembly but for knowing how to start it properly. It took me 4 pulls to start it the first time. I've flooded a different kind not knowing how to start it right and had to wait an hour to try again and start it successfully. This one starts SO easy! The only thing I can add to what Earthquake has already provided is to watch the on switch. It's easy to accidentaly switch off as you go to grip the trigger handle (it will make you think it died and just won't start). Other than that, the only way this could start more easily is if it were a key start. If any of my friends are in the market, I'm steering them straight to this saw, and I'll even let 'em give mine a test run to prove my point. January 5, 2013
