Customer Questions & Answers

can this auger be used horizontal?

can this auger be used horizontal?
Asked by: tbruce
This unit is a 2 cycle engine, so it is capable of running in any postion, However as the manufacturer this is NOT a reccomended use as this could result in serious injury if not used properly as stated in the manual. Drilling horizontal is very dangerous and could result in serious injury.

Took off the air filter and I literally squeezed out 2 tablespoons of oil or more. I've heard of spraying foam air filters with a lil WD-40 but to literally drench it in oil? Runs better now but still not 100 %

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Satisfied so far. I went with this powerhead because it was larger than most of the other one-man units. We have heavy clay soil here and I knew it would be tough going. I was careful to clear the auger repeatedly so it wouldn't jam. Wish it wasn't a two-cycle engine, but I can work around that. Based on the opinions of my friends I run it with store supplied premixed fuel which contains no ethanol. It's expensive, but I want this thing to last because I have big plans for it. It is big, but manageable for a single man. I'll admit, though, it would have been a lot better if there were two of us running it.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from works as advertised Starts easily but sometimes dies when lying it horizontal and then challenging to get it started. Learned to lay it down and pick it up slowly. This seems to help with the dying problem. So far seems to work fine.
